All this stuff is for naught when the stuff I talked about today becomes more widely accepted. oAuth is just a temporary solution.

I linked to your story in the article. I understand that your suggestion is part of the broader scope. But you can see people are getting quite frustrated about getting the authentication solution solved.
- Louis Gray
Thanks for the link. Yeah - the need is definitely there. I think these guys will continue to fight while the Information Card issue becomes more widely accepted. I think I'll do a blog post on why I think oAuth will be dead in a few years when you can control authorization on the client.

How did I miss this? I am subscribed to him. I track SocialToo mentions in Google alerts, yet this is the first time I saw the article. Odd.

Except he's not SF Bay area so that might not work according to your definition
- Jesse Stay
Jesse, why do I need to e-mail you when you have the data right here and you have my e-mail address? As for locality, a friend of mine is asking. I will pass over qualified folks.
- Louis Gray
It's not for me. It's for someone who specifically asked for an SF Bay Area referral. If I pass along what I have, we will find out.
- Louis Gray
You seriously don't know of any? I know it's wayyy up there for ya :), but they're ubiquitous in SF. May wanna try posting that here --> http://friendfeed.com/bay-area [FWD to]

"The series also highlights the difference between the pursuit of engaging television and the sometimes frenzied efforts of contestants to win, perhaps at the risk of their own health. Doctors, nutritionists and physiologists not affiliated with “The Biggest Loser” express doubt about the program’s regimen of severe caloric restriction and up to six hours a day of strenuous exercise, which cause contestants to sometimes lose more than 15 pounds a week. At least one other contestant has confessed to using dangerous weight-loss techniques, including self-induced dehydration. On the first episode of the current season, two contestants were sent to the hospital, one by airlift after collapsing from heat stroke during a one-mile race. New contestants are entering the show more out of shape. Each of the last two seasons has broken the record for the heaviest contestant ever, at 454 and 476 pounds."

I've always wondered about this - how it could possibly be healthy to lose this much weight so quickly.

Even that Jillian woman - who apparently is the winning coach every season? - has said that on her new show, her contestants will be held to a 2-pound per week standard, which is safe.

"JD Roth, an executive producer of the series who created its current format, said that while the show was extreme, “it needs to be extreme in my opinion.” “For some of these people this is their last chance,” he said. “And in a country right now that is wrestling with health care issues and the billions of dollars that are spent on obesity issues per year, in a way what a public...

"2009 was a big year for you. Highs. Lows. BIG HIGHS. BIG LOWS. I am glad I was able to be part of it. All of it. Because you are a complete individual - well-rounded, smart, friendly, sensitive, handsome... :) ... uh... geeky, silly, and an awesome babysitter. I am happy to consider you one of my best friends. You are part of the extended Gray family. Good luck in 2010. No more cancer!!!!"

Ouch. I didn't even notice. I've only had a few problems with them and it was very recent. The tone of that email for such a serious issue would really bother me.

The only problem I've had was that someone wasn't able to leave a comment sometime late Sunday night. I haven't noticed any other downtimes myself. Interesting.
