Android: If you're an Android user that likes to delve deeper into system settings Elixir 2 might be up your alley. The app tests and displays metrics for your accelerometer, gravity sensor, magnetic field sensor as well as many other system properties and can even create skinnable widgets so you find relevant data on your home screen. In addition to the plethora of settings Elixir 2 monitors, it also allows you to check Logcat and Dmesg logs so you can check the process log for debugging and print your kernal's message buffer. The generate report feature creates reports for your Android device and installed apps which can send via Bluetooth, email, or SMS. There are three optional add-ons for Elixir 2: Custom skinnable widgets that can monitor system settings, turn services on and off, give a count of running applications, and many other functions. Personal Add-On enables Elixir to access personal data and create widgets using personal data; you can create a widget displaying photos...

Astronomers and gold diggers were excited when scientists discovered a planet littered with diamonds. That's just okay now. Why? Because a new planet just took bling to the next level: it's one massive diamond the size of Jupiter. The planet is super dense and is made up of carbon. With the kind of density its pulling, scientists figure the carbon must be crystalline aka diamond. According to Matthew Bailes of Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne: "The evolutionary history and amazing density of the planet all suggest it is comprised of carbon — i.e. a massive diamond orbiting a neutron star every two hours in an orbit so tight it would fit inside our own Sun" Astronomers speculate that the new diamond is probably a remnant of a once gigantic star that's lost its outer layers. It now "only" has a little more mass than Jupiter, the BFP (biggest fucking planet) in our solar system but is 20 times more dense. Sadly, for the diamond loving citizens of Earth, the planet is 4,000...

I always thought elephants were afraid of mice. But scientists and farmers in Kenya have found that the best way fend off a herd of passing elephants is to erect a fence covered in bees. Talk about creative. Elephants have been enjoying a resurgence since they were nearly poached into extinction back in the 70s and 80s. But now, somewhat ironically, they've become a burden on the growing number of farmers who grow crops the elephants get all trample-y over. And it's serious; both people and elephants have died in this land conflict. So what to do? Desperate landowners, with the help of scientists at Save the Elephants, built beehive fences surrounding their farmland. And, after a two year period of observation, it was a success. The bees served as a natural deterrent for the elephants. Plus, the bees provided honey as an added bonus. Think of how this discovery could be applied elsewhere. Annoying neighbors? Bee fence. Bill collectors? Bee fence. The possibilities! [Wired, Image...

Here's a handy quick reference with common things you should know about Google+, like how to prevent a post from being shared and hotkeys for more quickly navigating conversation streams. We love shortcuts and cheatsheets, and have been digging Google+ lately, so this reference created by Google+ user Simon Laustsen is pretty neat. It's already been translated into a dozen languages. As the cheatsheet says, you can help add more tips and tricks by sending Simon a message at his G+ page. Windows: For some reason, a large number of apps leave their shortcuts behind after you've uninstalled them, leaving your start menu cluttered and confusing. Bad Shortcut Killer finds broken shortcuts all over your system and deletes them in one fell swoop. You could sift through your Start Menu every few weeks trying to find these shortcuts yourself, but honestly, who wants to do that? Bad Shortcut fixer makes cleaning out old shortcuts a two-click affair. Just start it up, and it'll automatically seek out broken shortcuts from all over your system. Then, you can just hit Select All and Delete. We kind of wish the app were portable instead of an installation, but it was useful enough that we'd probably use it again—after all, those shortcuts will accumulate again later. I even found a few shortcuts I didn't even realize were broken, even though I'm pretty compulsive about uninstalling apps and keeping my system neat, so you might be surprised at what it finds. Bad Shortcut Killer is...

Admit it: You have no idea what happened in Inception. Maybe you should have a viewing party and see it again. I've got just the chair for you to plant your ass in while you watch. Vivian Chiu, a furniture design student at Rhode Island School of Design created these remarkable Inception Chairs. It's like a dream within a dream within a dream within a dream. Except you can sit on it. Delightful! Via This is Colossal
