"These rules were originally tweeted by Emma Coates, Pixar’s Story Artist. Number 9 on the list - When you’re stuck, make a list of what wouldn’t happen next – is a great one and can apply to writers in all genres."

"I've learned that if you want to get out of the box thinking, you need to literally get out of the box. When you step outside, you give yourself over to nature, respecting its cycles and unpredictability. It keeps me more awake to what is happening around me by experiencing the extreme heats of summer, or the frigid power of winter. It makes me present to the world around me instead of being insulated from it."

"1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. "This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.""

Anne, we would like to move past the sordid details of the previous 24 hours and instead focus on the glorious future.

Nah. Windows. I forget the version. It wasn't mine, t'was at college. It was the only machine outside of the CAD suite attached to a laser printer. Plus it was the only pc that could compile turbo pascal. The other machines were all quirky 80186s (the 8086s lesser-known, not-quite-compatible cousin).

I ran OS/2 desktop and server. I remember upgrading the server using diskettes. From 1.3 to 2.0.

Totally did all my college work on a sweet 16MHz PS/2 Model 80 running OS/2 with TWO (yes TWO!) 70MB drives. Wow, that thing screamed, especially when I upgraded to a 486DX2. It was almost like 32MHz! 1024x768 256 Color!

Did I mention it had a Token Ring card? Yup. All our dorms were wired up for Token Ring, so I was on the campus network RIGHT IN MY ROOM!

Right now, Mark Zuckerberg is sitting in a dark room, looking at monitors on the screen. A big red button marked "Kill Friendfeed" sits on the armchair to his right. As he giggles menacingly under his breath, his finger hovers ever-so-gently over the button...

++ Fleagle. "And suddenly, a question pops his head. How come, why not here on my own developed turf? He sips the last of his milk glass, raising the finger off the button, and decided to give them another day." -The book of SocNet, 12:10

"In the name of codes, town officials say they have to rip up most of it. In the name of sanity, we say sign a petition. Goethe: "There is nothing worse than aggressive stupidity.""

What a shame that they require a Facebook app to sign the petition. Some people aren't Facebook and not all those who are want to hook their FB account up to petitions.

How big of trenches are you putting in? And I feel your pain on the dirt work... put in my last 13 fence post holes today. Some of them in very rocky soil. And got very small trenches dug for our chicken coup varmit abatement program.

about 30 feet main trunk 8 foot feeder lines (3) 16 inches deep at far end 6 inches deep at beginning. To be filled with rock and a perforated pipe.

Yes Sam laying .25 mil plastic in trench then adding round stone then wrapping drain pipe in fabric then covering with stone. (this assumes I ever finish digging)

After putting in many many fence posts over the years (some in hardened gravel driveways) as well as digging numerous trenches for gas lines to serve deck hot tub heaters, deck gas grills, etc. I can say with conviction that "it ain't the dirt... it's the damn rocks IN the dirt."

We've been in our house for more than 5 years now, and we still get phone calls for at least 2 different sets of people that had our phone number before we did.
