So, I help run a blog for a non-library org & unfortunately we started the blog before deciding on audience, goals, etc. :0/ So, a bit of everything got posted. We should've narrowed down our audience. Want to do this now but don't want to start another blog--do we just make an abrupt u-turn with explanation on this one?
yeah, I think that's how I'd do it. do whatcha need to do, but be transparent about it.

I would probably just make the changes with no hoopla. Another route would be to announce the new exciting changes: "From now on, we'll focus on these three areas! Get the feed for just the area you want or continue to get all blog updates with this feed."

Maybe use a narrower set of tags or categories, so that people can write in a set of relevant topics?
- OMG 404 Joe
@Joe Do you mean only allow posters to write posts that fit with certain tags?
- Yvonne
What Joe is suggesting is similar to what I was thinking of, though with categories rather than tags. If you are narrowing the content, it might make sense to be explicit about it, like "we are doing posts on 'events,' 'updates from the Chair,' and 'success stories.' If it doesn't fit in those three categories, we probably don't want to publish it on the blog."
