When I first saw Jenica's comment above I thought Megadeth was calling us out. Glad to see she was looking for us to get inspired instead. I left a comment on the blog. Personally, I'm not a futurist. I don't find it that interesting. But what should the LSW do? A blog post on thelsw.org asking for "provocative statements?" Ooh, how about "deadly obvious statements?" "Libraries will probably still have a lot of books in five years because ARL will still rank libraries based on number of volumes held."
- Your Neighbor Steve
How about, "In five years...ARL will rank libraries based on the number of librarians fired."
- John Dupuis
"In five years...there will still be people bitching about policy changes made five years ago today."
- Your Neighbor Steve
"In five years...librarians will find cats fascinating and amusing, if not a higher form of life."
- Your Neighbor Steve
Is it just me or is the name 'Taiga' hilariously funny? Try a search of friendfeed at large for 'Taiga' :: http://friendfeed.com/search... (and scroll below the recent posts on this teacup tempest)

Taiga is the main character in the anime "Toradora!" which just finished. It's great. :)

PS, don't judge the show by the fanart, which is often.... um.... disturbing.

Nobody mentioned anything about "chocolate librarians" being a major position in five years.
