What's your favorite representation of librarian awesomeness? Think Conan the Librarian, the Nancy Pearl action figure, "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear" movie, etc...
Something I just purchased: Rex Libris graphic novel! http://www.amazon.com/Rex-Lib... - Dana Longley
Yup, Hepburn's my fave. But The Librarian is a close second (Oook!). - Kirsten
Yes, I just got Rex Libris on loan from another library and he looks awesome. Also the dude in the Time Traveler's Wife (the book; I haven't seen the movie) But I think Jessamyn West is my favorite representation of librarian awesomeness, and she has the advantage of being a real person. - Your Neighbor Steve
steve: helen loved time traveller the book. she hates the film with the burning fires of a thousand suns. oh and rex libris does, indeed, rule. - Pete
Ditto to Steve. - laura x
Marion, Madame Librarian - RAPatton from iPhone
Nobody has mentioned Rupert Giles yet? Shocking. - Jason P
I was going to say Giles. But Jason beat me to it. - ellbeecee
Honestly? It's the bulk of the LSW that got me to realize the awesomeness. Hmm, maybe Cliff Landis too. - Derrick
:) So excited to read Rex Libris! Thanks for the link. Has anyone else ever read the book "The Dewey Decimal System of Love"? (not my favorite awesome thing, but cracked me up!) http://www.amazon.com/Dewey-D... - Laurelaura
I have a Rex Libris statue on top of one of the cabinets at work. http://www.slgcomic.com/Rex-Lib... - Betsy
Also, third vote for Giles. - Betsy
Alicia Hull, played by Bette Davis in the 1956 movie, Storm Center, which I've never seen but have read about enough to want to see. You can read about the real Alicia Hull in Louise Robbins' book, The Dismissal of Ruth Brown: Civil Rights, Censorship, and the American Library. http://openlibrary.org/b... - Stephen Francoeur
Giles! - Laura H.
(That reminds me: I need to find my Giles action figure and put it up next to Rex.) - Betsy
I have a Giles action figure, for he is my hero. I should bring it to work... can sit next to Serenity... - Jenica
I might even have a Wesley action figure somewhere. Must search for it. - Betsy
Bat Girl - awd
omg Batgirl. I can't believe I didn't say that. - Jason P
Also, Gaal Dornick (though was he really a librarian or more of an archivist and or indexer?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - awd
The Librarian and, I have to admit, I am fond of the monks in A Canticle For Leibowitz. I might just have a thing for fictional monk-librarians, though, because I also like The Name Of The Rose even though it ain't all positive awesomeness going on there. - Katy S
Any love for Dream's librarian, Lucien? http://comic-academic.00server.com/lucienB... - Your Neighbor Steve
+1 for Jessamyn - marlene
Katy: so you like both monk-librarians and monkey-librarians? - Deborah Fitchett
Deborah - Don't say the "M" word!! Ape or orangutan! He gets angry when you say the "M" word. - Katy S
Tossing it out there merely for the mention: Casanova! =P - Andy from BuddyFeed
The Librarian Knights in The Edge Chronicles. - Pete
Another just to mention: Henry in the Time Traveller's wife. Not sure if being naked in the stacks qualifies as awesome - Megan F
I was going to say "Iris." - rochelle rochelle
I think you should go ahead and say that, Rochelle. - Your Neighbor Steve
Iris. With her indispensible Gal Friday Martha and Impeccable Butler Steve (who are also undercover Librarian Superheroes when The Going Gets Tough) - rochelle rochelle
Aw, Rochelle, giant Internet hugz for you :) - marthalib
You are too kind, madam. </butler> - Your Neighbor Steve
Oh, Steve! I believe it's time for Iris' mid-morning nosh. OH, and could you crush some nebulous evil while her tea is steeping? - rochelle rochelle
*blush* - lris
Yes, madam. Crushing as we speak, madam. - Your Neighbor Steve
