What's your favorite representation of librarian awesomeness? Think Conan the Librarian, the Nancy Pearl action figure, "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear" movie, etc...
Yup, Hepburn's my fave. But The Librarian is a close second (Oook!).

Yes, I just got Rex Libris on loan from another library and he looks awesome. Also the dude in the Time Traveler's Wife (the book; I haven't seen the movie) But I think Jessamyn West is my favorite representation of librarian awesomeness, and she has the advantage of being a real person.

steve: helen loved time traveller the book. she hates the film with the burning fires of a thousand suns. oh and rex libris does, indeed, rule.

Nobody has mentioned Rupert Giles yet? Shocking.
- Jason P
I was going to say Giles. But Jason beat me to it.

Honestly? It's the bulk of the LSW that got me to realize the awesomeness. Hmm, maybe Cliff Landis too.

:) So excited to read Rex Libris! Thanks for the link. Has anyone else ever read the book "The Dewey Decimal System of Love"? (not my favorite awesome thing, but cracked me up!) http://www.amazon.com/Dewey-D...

Alicia Hull, played by Bette Davis in the 1956 movie, Storm Center, which I've never seen but have read about enough to want to see. You can read about the real Alicia Hull in Louise Robbins' book, The Dismissal of Ruth Brown: Civil Rights, Censorship, and the American Library. http://openlibrary.org/b...

The Librarian and, I have to admit, I am fond of the monks in A Canticle For Leibowitz. I might just have a thing for fictional monk-librarians, though, because I also like The Name Of The Rose even though it ain't all positive awesomeness going on there.

Iris. With her indispensible Gal Friday Martha and Impeccable Butler Steve (who are also undercover Librarian Superheroes when The Going Gets Tough)
