As much as I love that photo, I don't want LSW to be a cult of personality around certain individuals. "Put the 'you' in LSW!"

I take it back -- it should have Ceiling Cat in it, actually.

In the course of being a smartass, I didn't actually mention that I like the design (and picture) a lot.
- Jason P
I liked the design -- and I have the most assed-ness pose. :) I think there's alot of merit to the design -- and it should have people there somehow -- cause that's what it's all about. I added it to the repo anyway for people to take down and play with.

You could have it rotate through several masthead images.

On second look, one tiny comment -- I find the orange a little tough to read where it overlaps the lighter colors of the photo.
- Jason P
I think it's pretty cool, but the orange is a bit hard on the eyes.
- Matt
While I adore that picture with an limitless passion, I agree with Steve. Also, not so fond of the orange and black, which makes me think of a) Halloween and b) my high school team colors. Maybe rotating pics, as Wicked suggests?
- marthalib
There's the portraits done by @Cindi and (if I do say so) myself that could be used in a rotating fashion to show "members".

I have some ideas to deal with the orange on the picture. I find black to be a hard colour to look at in the long run. I can't think of any "black" sites that I continue to go back to on a regular basis. There's something cavernous about them.
- ɥsıuɐʎɹ
It'd be really nice if people could add their own pictures to any hypothetical rotation, though that could have unpleasant results if abused.
- Jason P
My black/white/orange site. (The author likes it so don't bitch ;-)

No picture rotation please! Whatever this website is, it should be immediately recognizable for what it is. Picture rotation detracts from that. That said, there's a big of cart-before-the-horse here. The design should align with a theme/idea/message, not the other way around.
- ɥsıuɐʎɹ
@kendra do you have an example of something subversive and biblio in mind?
- ɥsıuɐʎɹ
I'm changing my vote again to side with Kendra.
- Jason P
I just laughed at the idea of Calvin peeing on hipster librarians, but I don't have graphics editing stuff on this computer to make something.
- Georgie Bestie
Could have picture rotation and immediate recognisability if (for example) the pictures were converted to b&w and same size and lined up in two rows of half a dozen.
- Deborah Fitchett
Being really subversive would being a tattoo of a naked ~man~ riding a book with the flaming skulls in the background. IMO.
