With everything I am into digitally - photography, scrapbooking, blogging, - I need to develop a plan, systems, or instructions for those after me on how to access my work.
- Lynette Batton
I really need to get into the habit of using mindmaps all the time to be able to make connections and links to stuff I do.

I even liked your article back then Allison - but this time I Stumbled it :-) - (and left you a comment.)
- SteveH
Allison, that is a killer article. New to the whole SEO thing. I love the tips on making something into a video without having to go right out to buy the camcorder. Love it! (and stumbled it too)
- Bridgett Raffenberg
Great Article Allison, I posted a trackback to you from my site.

I am always trying to remember what I thought would be a great idea to try out when I get to a location. this notebook could solve that problem. All I would have to do is remember the notebook.

Great idea - 'specially including the miniprints.

My attitude toward notebooks is that they're mainly just for segregating things I want to share with other people. I organize everything for me by tags. So I only have 4 notebooks right now, 2 private (Private and Addressbook) and 2 public (Craftiness and SharedStuff). I made my Addressbook one just so it's easier to browse addresses only, but I could have just made a saved search with the tags... I might make a Music notebook too but haven't decided yet.
- Lindsay
I started out with a notebook on each subject I was interested in but that is getting to be too many notebooks. I then tried to follow sort of a GTD system with 1)Inbox 2)MasterLists 3)Actions but I also want a Notebook for Quotes and then one for Tutorials for using different software like photoshop and lightroom so they will be accessible when I'm not online. I really like the "Addressbook" from Lindsay Donaghe. Will be watching this thread close.

Lynette, I have a tag called "collections" and underneath it I have things like "quotes", "graphics", "receipts", "poetry", "tutorials" and a bunch of other general categories of stuff. Then I have more specific tags for the type of stuff like "graphic design" > "photoshop tutorials". Tags just give me so much more flexibility than notebooks.

I have different clients notebooks, a Personal Notebook and a tech notes Notebook where I capture all tech related websites that I find interesting for search at a later date.

@Todd - I actually have a separate Evernote account for my work notes. I figure that when I eventually leave this employer I'll just hand over the credentials.
- Lindsay
I just discovered this room two days ago in a Evernote newsletter of all places.. Good stuff here.

I have been trying to figure out how to blend my del.icio.us account with Evernote... maybe I'll create a public Links notebook and import all the links into that one... then I can still share them with other people. Hmm...
- Lindsay
Welcome, Russell! Yeah it's cool that they're linking us now!!
- Lindsay
I put everything in the main notebook. It's just faster.
- Rubin Sfadj
I've got a couple of notebooks. Some for specific projects that I can publish. Also notebooks for account info, invoices, research material, actionable etc.
- Peter van Teeseling
I've been just piling everything into my Notebook folder..Oops
- Terence
If you're familiar with GTD, I just treat my notebooks as contexts and tags as folders. I also make it a habit to tag a notebook entry with the notebook name.

I have six: Personal, Addresses, Business, Science, Delicious, Buy Me and tag like crazy so it's easy to find things
- Sally Church
I didn't even think of using GTD type ideas. Thanks for some great ideas. Looking back I realized my tags, like my tags on delicious, are all over the place and need some reorganization :)
- Todd Eddy
Reading through this some more I just noticed Lindsay mentioning nested tags. I didn't know that. Definately makes things more manageable
- Todd Eddy
I couldn't live without my nested tags! Much easier and less limited than the notebooks.
