Verizon boots 1938media over previous mistakes, boycott call - http://video.knbc.com/player...
What's not clear: were the videos in question ever on the phone, and second, surely if this was an issue, they would have done due diligence before the deal. - Duncan Riley from Bookmarklet
From the news report: "Verizon said the controversial video was never shown on it's vcast service, and was never intended to be made available." - Ken Sheppardson
The video in question was posted A YEAR AGO! Didn't Verizon see this coming? - Pat Hawks
Pat, my question exactly. Ken, I heard that bit, but then what were people protesting about? the context doesn't fit, how can you boycott something that wasn't there? - Duncan Riley
Someone found out about the video, a huge public protest happened, it would become a media circus because someone used a keyword "racism". So Verizon went nuts and said "Ohh we need to make a statement and do something now! Who cares what?" - Candace
Maybe people are just upset Verizon would do business with Feldman? - Pat Hawks
Verizon is full of shit. Loren is not a racist... I'm not going to stand for this PC crap! - Noah David Simon
ok, is it just me or did Channel 4 News spell "activist" wrong? acctivist? just sayin' - Christine Lu
Now, THAT's funny. - Michael Markman
It doesn't matter when the videos were made - much like it doesn't matter when a scandal arises over someone else's past behavior - like Obama's pastor & McCain's association w/ Gov. Williams. The behavior may be in the past - but the "guilt by association" is always in the present. Verizon clearly decided not to get behind Loren in this. Sometimes, your past does come back to haunt you. Even if it's not 'fair'. - Lucretia Pruitt
Lucretia, the thing that doesn't make sense is why Verizon didn't think about this BEFORE making the deal, sense the videos didn't just pop up. - Pat Hawks
Too bad the social media doesn't have the power of the mainstream media yet. Verizon could get a load of us calling "bs" on the whole thing. Though I doubt that will make them panic as much as this story did. ...It's terrible but, I'm laughing. Because this...this is funny. - Candace
fuck Verizon. ...bunch of pussies this is for @1938Media ...kiss it http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips... - Noah David Simon
I like the Rev Wright angle. That's double groovy with one and half twists. - Oldengrey (Jay)
I think video is racist. Verizon and 1938 is a different story but the video is racist. - Akshay Dodeja
Verizon is just a bunch of dolts wearing suits. If they didn't see it before it's because they didn't look for it. In other words: they didn't do their job. When they awoke from their slumber they were being pushed around by a bunch of hysterical PC ankle-biters. - William, CPU Media
Media Circus time-Loren gets to follow the elephants and clean up. - Mark Forman
this is for @1938Media ...kiss it http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips... - Noah David Simon
hahaha this is great. I feel like 'internet people' have a much healthier conception of racism. Taking tech nigga out of context could easily make Loren a racist. But it really started a conversation, which is what I think what Loren originally hoped to do. - Daniel Morgan
"Hello LA Humanity? This is Dave Winer. Did you know..." Have to say, glad to see feldboy getting nailed. Yep I am. - jeneane sessum
@daniel morgan . I'm sorry but your comment "internet people" I find degrading to those of us who use the internet. I am afraid I am going to have to begin a public boycott of Friend Feed since they are allowing you to be on Friend Feed spouting such degrading stereotypes of people on the internet. ...I guess the internet is serious business after all. - Candace
It appears things flared up over the weekend. I would just guess that in the wake of the announcement, the public started browsing Loren's back catalog. The video is linked to and/or embedded on a number of sites over the past few days. The earliest references to the boycott by Najee Ali, Project Islamic Hope, that I can find are from yesterday: http://tinyurl.com/5k4bxq and http://tinyurl.com/6s86yh. - Ken Sheppardson
damn it... time to kiss Jesse Jackson's ass! ...kiss it http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips... - Noah David Simon

There's a difference between the state quashing free speech and people using free speech to influence the financial dealings of a private actor. Just sayin', 'tain't censorship. Loren owes his success to controversy, but that's a double-edged sword. - Madsimian
Thanks for sharing this, Duncan, since I wouldn't have seen it otherwise, inasmuch as I'm ignoring Los Angeles local TV news, VCAST, and Najee Ali. Not boycotting, ignoring. - Ontario Emperor

Even though I follow your logic, I recently said down with a guy running an ad platform and he said business has never been better. We talked for a few hours, but he was pretty emphatic about the fact that display advertising will continue to be a booming business. He's seeing a lot of companies reallocating their advertising dollars away from print and tv and opting for online instead. - Jennifer Van Grove
I honestly can't be more raw and honest than this. This is the story you're NOT seeing reported on your favorite blogs at the moment, but as much as I hate say it, it's very much true. If you like me or not, ask the question: why aren't you hearing about this on more blogs. The answer: because all of them are affected. - Duncan Riley
I am seeing it even worse than Duncan. I'm just hoping it's a Q1 thing and not all of 2009. - Paul Montgomery

Massive Australian News: Crikey has launched a blog network! big names, big buys! http://www.inquisitr.com/3087...
thanks to Scoble for the like. Big news here. - Duncan Riley
Well I'm not too posh not to like it either. Considering how surprisingly far behind Australia is on many tech items, this is a big step. - Dennis Bjørn Petersen from twhirl
Is this good or bad for you Duncan? Side note, Crikey is a word that only Australians should be a allowed to use. - Toby Graham
Toby, if the question is was I offered a job: no, although I had lunch today with the coordinator of the effort (and yes, she paid). In terms of what I do, no affect at all: the problem in australia is numbers, not enough of them, which is why Australia's best bloggers write for overseas audiences, and there's never been a Drudge, Kos or Sulivan here. Any effort to target a local audience is welcome, because it helps us all in Australia - Duncan Riley
It helps us legitimize blogging locally. - Duncan Riley
It's certainly a very interesting development. - Toby Graham

So, in light of this, was Mark Day's anti-blog screed the other day just a coincidence, or a pre-emptive strike? ;-) If the "Heritage media" weren't worried on Monday morning, I sure as shit hope they're worried this Friday night. - Warren

The Five Big Mistakes That Changed My Life and How I Moved Past Them - SmartNow.com - http://www.smartnow.com/page...
I stopped taking care of myself. I had gained weight over the years and stopped exercising. When Pets was collapsing, I started exercising again and the pounds had started to come off, so my physical health had started to improve. What I didn’t realize is that my emotional health was deteriorating. I did not recognize my own depression. For at least two years after Pets shut down, I didn’t care if I lived or died. I never actively tried to kill myself; that would go against my Midwestern upbringing. I just didn’t care if I lived. I was also just starting to experience the first symptoms of peri-menopause, so I had to come terms with my own childlessness. I had curiously decided that if I was meant to have a child, then I would have gotten pregnant during my marriage. Not having children reinforced my indifference to life during this period. I didn’t have children to take care of, so what was the point? I was also angry. The anger came in waves. - ben barren

FSG has the power to bring blogs back from the dead?? - Cyndy
Guys they have only been around for like 60 days and had 50,000 uniques according to Compete.com... I wish I had that kind of traction. If they hadn't used the TC brand someone (me and a group) would have picked it up for sure. That was a great start. Why did they not continue I wonder? Duncan help me out you know how the big man thinks more than any of us - Roger Kondrat
Roger, you would have that kind of traction if TechCrunch crosslinked with every article you wrote. ;) - Cyndy
Two problems. Nik + SG would have been paid...well Nik definitely but both were named editors so presume both. Say 80-100k yr for an editor, maybe total if they split it + other writers for the site (allocated expenses, even if they were shared between sites). 50k uniques over 2 months doesn't even come remotely close to covering expenses. Arrington is a tight arse who hates spending money. My guess is that the site wasn't growing quickly enough and they decided to cut their losses now - Duncan Riley
It's also not a space Arrington would want to necessarily own either, after all there's no magical pot of gold nor any competitor he wants to destroy, so where as CrunchGear was sustained at a loss for a long time (and could well still be losing money) there was no reason for TCIT to do so. Pure business decision from him. - Duncan Riley
also there's the sucker aspect. My guess is that it wasn't his idea to start with, that Nik cooked it up and sold it to him, with SG's support. Arrington has always had poor judgement with investments and happily spends money to support friends. Maybe charity would be the better definition - Duncan Riley
It's redirecting back to TechCrunch again - Glenn Slaven
Completely gone from all the menus too now - Glenn Slaven
bizarre, it's like ZOMG, someone noticed! What should we do! - Duncan Riley
TCIT is an idea that has been floating around for some time in Arringtonland, I was even involved with some very early discussions (nixed when Gillmor noticed I was being included in group emails). I wouldn't be quite so quick to deadpool it, but one wonders if any such closure might be related to acquisition discussions which are coming to a head. - Paul Montgomery
Does this mean the TechCrunch Tablet is deadpool'd too? - Paul Montgomery
Paul, interesting question given the initial drive came out of TCIT. - Duncan Riley
With all due respect to Duncan, I think it opens a spot for Cyndy .... (he ducks) - Charlie Anzman
it is again redirecting. Duncan any informed guesses on the reason for closure :-). Bye the way I posted about no new articles on techcrunchit on friendfeed about 3 days back. - Sidharth Dassani

I'm going to side with Brian here. What is right: Comet McNaught was that bright in WA (I use to live there), but I checked my attempted pics, they predate this by over a week. I'm sure the comet was only that bright for less than a week. Second, the main Australia Day fireworks occur in Perth City...which isn't near a beach . Maybe it's Leighton Beach with Fremantle to the left...but it doesn't seem right. I did check the weather records though, there was a storm that night, and it's in the right direction - Duncan Riley

Duncan, last year both Fremantle and I believe Hillarys held their own fireworks for Australia Day. I myself was trying to guess the location this morning. I also use Talkshoe for my weekly podcast, co-hosted with a bloke 100km away. It's pretty solid, good for getting guests on from the crowd. Technically, it's not bad at all, as long as you spend a bit of time getting levels right. - Paul Montgomery
@Bjorn: it's not a holiday here in Australia! - Paul Montgomery
Paul, help a n00b to Talkshoe out... do you mess with levels after it's recorded? Because Hodson was teetering on sounding like a whisper. - Cyndy
No Cyndy, you have to get that fixed before you start, I'm afraid. You get 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the show to work stuff like that out... although of course you can just not start the show on time. Best to get an independent listener to give you feedback in the live chat on levels, can't trust your own ear. It's tricky and there's no guarantee from week to week that everything will be perfect. Just part of the challenge! :D - Paul Montgomery
Thanks Paul. I'll experiment with the settings for next week and I reset my PIN last night so at least I will be able to get IN to the admin settings 15 minutes before, unlike last night. - Cyndy

New policy -- when I want to post a link and Twitter is down, I'll post it on FF instead.
I have been using FF more and twitter less and I am liking it more - Dave Gray
cool... i've got FF set as my start page right now - Adam C.
if I could import from FF to Twittet it would be a perfect solution. - Johnny Baker
JB, that would be easy to do. - Dave Winer
Dave, why not skip Twitter entirely. With FriendFeed you can choose a cool graphic to go with your link. You can't do that with Twitter. Really FF is a superior platform. - Thomas Hawk
I actually prefer to post links on Friendfeed. On Friendfeed, I don't have to use a URL shortener. - Morton Fox
jump to the end: post to FF first. these days it seems you'd be right more often than you are not... - Russell Holliman
Thomas it's the people. There are a lot of people who use Twitter who don't use FF. It's only geeks here near as I can tell. I don't think the people here are all that interested in some of the things I'm interested in. And there are a lot more idiot Republicans here. I like intelligent people and there aren't too many smart folk who are willing to admit to being Republican these days. So you're pretty much left with the slimedogs. Present company excepted of course. :-) - Dave Winer
I'd go FF first. Most conversations of value based on the link will happen here anyway. - Duncan Riley
I'm using FF differently than Twitter. I follow many fewer here and am being followed by many fewer. I like the intimacy, talking mostly with people I actually know in most cases. At Twitter I have many followers and use it to get more viewership of a new blog post. - shelisrael1
You can always post on twitter first, and import it in ff. - Jacob
why would you want to post to twitter directly? - Sean Savage
Duncan and Thomas have it right. You always have the option of using Twitter but participating in Friendfeed returns more. I use both as many do (but hide and just occasionally look at the Twitter posts to avoid overload). It's getting better each week. Simply a matter of how YOU choose to set it up. - Charlie Anzman
I have advanced degrees and an IQ of 135; I've been a highly successful educator at both the secondary and collegiate levels. But because I identify with the Republican party, I'm an idiot according to Dave Winer. - Gregory Pittman from fftogo
Gregory... That extra 4 points I have on you in the IQ stakes must be the part that accounts for sarcasm, humor and the ability to know that generalisations are rarely accurate... - Johnny Worthington
@John - or the part that does reading comprehension, since Gregory obviously failed to parse "a lot more", "not too many", and "pretty much". - Jeremy Raines
watch out, this policy made me fell in-love with FriendFeed... - Orli Yakuel
Cool. That way Twitter can stay up. ;-) - Vic Podcaster
idiot republicans? slimedogs? Even though I'm a democrat I find broad sweeping statements like that to be problematic. I'd like to think that I'm more open minded than that. I also think that politics are not the only thing to talk about in the world and think that gauging someone's intelligence or the value of their conversation by their political party affiliation is, well, pretty idiotic. - Thomas Hawk
Getting back to the subject, why not start posting here first anyway? - David Weiner
Thomas is one of an ever-decreasing number of people from all points of the political spectrum for whom disagreement on issues doesn't degrade to personal attacks. Thomas and I might disagree on what the problems are and what the solutions to those problems are, but we would be able to have a valuable conversation. I appreciate that very much. - Gregory Pittman
I usually do it on both. - Thejesh GN
it's funny how Americans can feel in their stomach being part of Rep or Dems, when the whole world knows deep in their stomach that there is not a glinch that diferentiate both parties a part from the color of the tie, i'm not saying we are better in Europe or elsewhere, i'm saying we're all screwed, - Ben Borges
@Ben yeah democracy sucks that way... naturally breeds moderate points of view - Rubin Sfadj
Good policy! I'm starting to followthat too. - Shannon Low from twhirl
is it still democracy ? i'v seen bush with a "christian cruz" on his back while speaking on tv, (terrorist) for me it's middle age democracy. - Ben Borges
I am trying to do this too, but my friends aren't actively using FF yet. - Michelle Lentz
Starting on FriendFeed today. Put me down as an AFTU (Another Frustrated Twitter User). - Michael E. Rubin
I'm using ping.fm to do this. - Gary Walter (gwalter)
that's been my policy of late...i can't even follow ppl on twitter today - Sarah Perez
I actually prefer to use Twitter for less important messages and FriendFeed for stuff when I want to generate conversation. The idea behind my logic is that some people, to reduce the noise, block all tweets, as they consider tweets less important. I agree with these folk, so I use Twitter for stuff that they're probably not interested in. - Rishabh Mishra (p248) from NoiseRiver

Ever notice how new products almost never make it on TechMeme these days. They don't even appear. This is loop back to why I started blogging. The industry press was ignoring the interesting stuff and only paying attention to what the BigCos were doing. Time for a new route-around coming soon?
FriendFeed, for now, seems to working well as long as you don't only follow the a-list. - Ray Grieselhuber
There is a risk in Friendfeed that you will only ever see the comments of a small subset of the FF population - interspersed with the odd Friend of... who may make it "In" - Rooms has the potential to widen the gene pool but sticking to the friends tab can definitely limit the number of names you will see... - David W
I don't feel a need to reinvent the web inside of FF. However it is part of what I do, in the same way Twitter is. I like FF better, but only marginally better. It's very far from the ideal. None of these guys have managed to combine all the elements the way plain old HTML does it so well. It's nice in some ways but a big step backward in others. - Dave Winer
oh don't you worry the "BigCos" and slooow media will always end up being displaced; it's a law of nature, soon to be documented and displaced - Billy Shipp from twhirl
Yeah. It's a big old loop we're in. And watch for the moments when new products don't get any air. That means the routearound is just about to begin. - Dave Winer
BTW its weird but Techmeme is down now. What a day! - Dave Winer
reinventing if needed is fine but to get a new look I guess, it's like starting over again a little bit. - Jack
Dave: I disagree to a point. If you look at Techmeme stories from my blog in May and June alone, you can see stories on Loud3r, Feedly, Disqus, Sezwho, FFToGo, and Shyftr, for example. It could be that Techmeme is accurately monitoring the most discussed blogs, and that the vast majority of these blogs are talking less about new products. Link: http://tinyurl.com/4nscbe - Louis Gray
Dave, I don't disagree, but having said that I don't believe its Technemes fault, it is designed to follow the peak noise and ultimately thats around the big players. What we need is a techmeme like service that blocks techcrunch and any mention of a defined list of companies such as google, facebook etc so we can cut through the noise - Duncan Riley from fftogo
Nah, I think the blogosphere and devices like Twitter and FriendFeed show me cool things all the time. When you rely on one aggregator/editor for information... things you are interested in slip through. If you leave it up to crowdsourcing, you see what you want. - Andrew Ruess
Louis -- that's kind of the point -- those products didn't launch well, and with no slight to you -- I haven't heard of them because I depend on TechMeme to tell me what's important in the tech world. TechMeme does what it does well, but it has some real limits and the industry has shaped around those limits, just as the industry shaped around the limits of the press in the pre-Internet era and during the browser and Java wars in the 90s. - Dave Winer
Dave, what are you thinking about? - feedlyqa
I think there needs to be a website where people can list the new products and services, that way its very easy to find out and support new services like SocialBrowse and A.viary that I would have never found if it wasn't for the invites friendfeed channel - Tyler (Chacha)
Feedly, generate a daily RSS feed (archived) of the user's posts. Here's an example. http://twitter.scripting.com/daveRss... - Dave Winer
are you thinking of a parallel twitter system based on RSS and an associated XXXmeme? - feedlyqa
Dave, I guess the answer is on your website http://www.scripting.com/ (note: permalinks on the website seem to be broken). how do you envision people creating http://twitter.scripting.com/daveRss...? SwitchAbit? Friendfeed? (or the point is that you do not care?) - feedlyqa
@Chacha i made a new product/software category @ http://www.socialmedian.com/ try *solacetech* as an invite code and tell me if that's what you had in mind - Anthony Farrior
I would find it interesting to hear less breaking news and new startups. Instead more analytics on the guys that are doing it right. Why are they successful? Nine out of 10 new startups don't seem to be launching something that addresses an actual need, instead they launch a technology. We have enough technology already, so that fails. And providing us with next gen social ad business models ain't going to work either ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
I really liked Fred Wilson's suggestion to make a TechMeme that was for individual bloggers only. No branded blogs like TechCrunch, Engadget, VentureBeat... just Scripting, AVC, Scoble, etc. This would cast a much more individual net, which I think would really increase diversity. PeopleMeme - Jason Calacanis
Jason, a good idea:-) BTW TechMeme could be improved vastly if it could ignore 3 types of post: 1) any posts that say "Breaking News" 2) posts that copy the exact content of another post and add 1-2 lines to them (echo echo) 3) Anything, and I mean anything that discusses the performance of Twitter at this moment. Removing any of those would make TechMeme probably 100% more interesting and diverse already. Is Gabe listening? ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
Alexander, Gabe always listens. He's one of the best I've seen for monitoring his service online. He's out of town until July 8th, so may be checking things less. - Louis Gray
Well they sound like easy fixes, so I hope he has the time to implement them. Come to think of it, it would be great if each of us can have it's own TechMeme algorithm ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
BTW Louis, it seems YOU are always listening too ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
I have been reading TechMeme less and less lately. I guess that means it's about to go mainstream! :-) - Robert Scoble
My route-around is to read Louis Gray. That's for sure. But he'll be slowed down by two new babies. But I have a lot to say on this topic. The thing is that the early adopters are way ahead of most of the world and the rest of the world needs to catch up before we can see a ton of new stuff again that'll be successful. In the area of work, for instance, on the Office 2.0 database there are more than 800 services. How many of them have any of us tried? I bet a VERY SMALL percentage. - Robert Scoble
Can't slow me down. My Thursday/Friday gap was as we were at the hospital, fattening up Sarah, but my bet is that's a blip. Two new services, never blogged about by anyone ever on Techmeme, hit the blog today. :-) - Louis Gray
I have to disagree. Been seeing more new sources as relatively unknown sources appearing on Techmeme all the time (possibly not this past week?) ... but I read Louis ... and sometimes Robert too :) - Charlie Anzman
I hope Sarah gets fat enough to release louis from fear so he can help us again :-) - Francine Hardaway from twhirl
dont forget http://emilychang.com/go/ehub ! all new products there - Marshall Kirkpatrick from fftogo
Yep, I'm listening, and appreciate the ideas. But I'm in disagreement with many people here. I can't give alot of weight to requests for coverage of new products from people who provide coverage of new products (or the products themself). And I can't give undue weight to requests for more personal blogs from personal bloggers. These suggestions are somewhat helpful, but don't speak for... more... - Gabe Rivera
It would be interesting to see if someone were to calculate a success/fail ratio on these new products AND relate that to the amount of hype created in some breaking news blogs. I could tell you the outcome, no correlation at all. You either execute right or you don't. The power of the "Hype Blog" review isn't sustainable or accessible for users beyond the early adopters. - Alexander van Elsas
maybe it's just me, but i think there's a "fatigue bar" that keeps going up to get people excited about new products. i think it's more interesting to talk more about things that appear to be getting some traction than any smart little thing that releases. traction > launching - Charles Hudson
I get paid to write about start-ups, but usually it's those that raise funding, make a splash or do something new. We can read about big company news almost anywhere. I'm with Charles, though. Not every start-up is worth the virtual ink. How do you strike a balance? That would be up to Gabe's secret sauce. - Dan Kaplan
I like what Charles said. Very often, where there's traction, there's a story. What happened? Why is this catching on? What made the difference? What kind of people are using it? How is it spreading? Etc., etc. - Gabe Rivera
More information = more usability. Hope to see some new developing things on Techmeme soon. - Mark Frost
I agree in part with Gabe, but disagree too. TechMeme attracted me because it was different than what was on Google News. Now it's getting to be big-city news and isn't as interesting as hanging out in FriendFeed. - Robert Scoble
Finding all most new products worth trying via twitter/friendfeed (techmeme new product launches usually = techcrunch = PR relationship with MikeA = not enough reason to give a crap pour moi ) - leigh himel
re: a 'Techmeme' that is 'personal' -- A recent blog post from Nick Bradbury explains how the "popular topics" feature on FeedDemon is sort of like a meme-tracker limited to those blogs to which one subscribes ( http://urlzen.com/6u ). Obviously, this is not a Techmeme replacement, merely an attempt to add another means to view the conversation flow. - Rex Hammock
Gabe, to be clear, I don't think TechMeme should change. I think we need to flow around it though, provide other ways for people to find what's new. We used to have weblogs.com before the blogging world got too big and the spammers discovered it. Digg is even more of a concentrator than TM, so that isn't what I want. Oddly I don't think it's an algorithmic thing. You and I tend to view things diametrically opposite. I think human beings are the answer, you think algorithms. I think we're both right. :-0) - Dave Winer
A very basic work around, filtering some of the noise from Techmeme http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes... or the RSS direct http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes... - Duncan Riley
Actually aggregation only makes sense in a peer/social context: what is my social graph talking about? Search will become social - differently from what Mahalo is. #workingonit ;) - oliver gassner
Dave Winer
I'm steering people to FriendFeed, can't help it. My discussions are happening there. And bonus: It pisses off Steve Gillmor. :-)
will be waiting for your friends when they come. I guess that is why they call it friendfeed. you bring 'em, and I eat - Noah David Simon
@TheAnalysis Shut up you Flaming Troll - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Bonus points are good. - Russellreno
Organization matters. - Steve Rubel
yeah... I find it a little amazing that I've blogged for 3 years to little effect but I've had amazing conversations here on friendfeed. I love it. - Stefan Hayden
Stefan: Same here. - Russellreno
FriendFeed seems like a great place to converse, if only more people used it and the UI was more refined. Twitter+FF+IM=Viable? - Kawika Holbrook
I have little if any complaints about the UI... I love it. - Stefan Hayden
Is Jason using Loren to hurt Israel to get at you? - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Dave, glad to see you on FriendFeed, it is great having your feedback here on things. - Thomas Hawk
Igor, no -- I think it's about Scoble. I don't really know Shel very well, met him a few times over the years. JC's complaint with me appears to be that I wrote a bad review of Mahalo. If something else is bothering him, I wish he'd say what it is, without all the BS about meds, and mental hygiene and puppets. It's really unbecoming of a CEO who wishes to be taken seriously. When have you seen a CEO behave this way -- in public? - Dave Winer
I personally do not see Mahalo as a viable search engine, even though Scoble claims it is to replace Google. SEOmoz Rand Fishkin called Scoble's opinion on search engines moronic! I grew up in the same neighborhood as Jason around the same people, so I know his ways. Nothing new! Give him a CEO title but he is still a Gumba! - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
I grew up in NY long before JC was even a zygote -- and I don't think it's tough to hire a comedian to taunt people. It's like hiding behind your mothers' skirt. I think he's a child, a baby, very immature. Not a tough guy. Not even slightly tough. - Dave Winer
I'd spend way more time on FF if I could change the unreadable light-grey-text-on-white format. It kills my eyes. The conversations may be good, but the UI is horrid - Lucretia Pruitt
@geekmommy - greasemonkey script? custom CSS? you can change the UI if you're really determined. :-) - Dossy Shiobara
Well, we can get Massad after him! All it takes is one email. lol - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Ok Dave nice I see the picture clearly. When Loren first came out with criticism of Shel it was valid because of how Shel did the video interview, it was inane. So Loren goes making fun of Shel, which was funny at first. I told Learn enough, chill out. WTF you want from the guy, So he blocked me on Twitter, and then on FF. Loren is a real Tool. Did Jason get him, probably yes, the guy is sponsoring him. - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Shel is not really a fighter and does not know how to stand up for himself, which is sad, because you need to have steal balls to deal with this guerrilla warfare. I say best thing keep all of this out in the open and let the community decide. People are not blind, they know who is sincere and who is a Flaming Troll like Loren. - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
LOL!! - Susan Beebe
I hear you it is Fascism! But I do not trust Scoble solution to enforce the Internet. Since when we trust Government? http://friendfeed.com/e... I want the Internet to belong to the People. By the people for the people. - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
We as technological leaders of the Internet can police ourselves against a few bad apples. Remember it is the Internet Global Village. - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
TechnoFascism. Shel Israel can play the role of Evita. Scoble is the new Juan Peron. Jason Calacanis as Benito Mussolini. Mike Arrington as Francisco Franco and starring the Shel Israel Puppet as Adolf Hitler! - Dave Winer
I'm auditioning for the role of Leon Trotsky, hiding out in Mexico City. - Dave Winer
Dave, you are being sardonic here. Scoble scares me the worse! He has young people following him blindly as if he is a demigod. - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
yeah you must of seen my video. look at it this way @DaveWiner, I mean Trotsky. you get to f#(% a mustachioed woman named Frida http://www.seesmic.com/video... - Noah David Simon
Scoble is now forming national technology policy. Scary. Dave, watch your back. Somebody took a hammer to Trotsky's head in mexico. Always bet on the stalinists -- they're not threatening at all, just simple agrarian reformers ;) - Oldengrey (Jay)
we need to see more of this from A-listers. If you move your conversation here, your followers will follow suit. - Shivanand Velmurugan
Yeah Leon died a horrible death but as Noah says he got to do Frida before that. :-) On second thought maybe Scoble should be Stalin. - Dave Winer
wow... @DaveWiner on the Anti-Scoble movement now too? I'm getting pissed. I started that. - Noah David Simon
Frida would of been fun,Trotsky best of all the reds. Diego 1of da best artists there ever was. What a triangle - Noah David Simon
Don't think Diego cared strangely. I'll play Diego - Noah David Simon
I love Scoble! Come on who wouldn't want to play the role of Stalin in Tech Goes Fascist. He gets to blow up the swastika on top of the Reichstag! What could be more fun? - Dave Winer
Marc Canter gets to play Baby Huey in the cartoon at Intermission. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Dave Winer
I'll just be Pancho Villa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... Che Guevara would be fine as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
I left out Steve Gillmor. Hmmmm. I think he plays Howard Cosell and interview Loren Feldman who plays Joe Frazier to Shel Israel as Mohammed Ali. Feldman just sits there dumb and has no idea what to say while Ali messes him up. When they get in the ring Ali plays rope-a-dope. That's what hell will be like for Feldman. - Dave Winer
So who plays George Foreman? And Don King? - Ontario Emperor from fftogo
u do realize I'm friends with Feldman's girl? I'm not taking sides here. I don't know Loren.... but I thought it was funny - Noah David Simon
maybe I don't know Israel. has Loren made any ovations to include Shel and become friends? - Noah David Simon
Loren's puppet could help if Shel joined Loren. Chevy Chase became good friends with Gerald Ford years after he mocked him. - Noah David Simon
WHY! Why like this when its 5 days old - Tyler (Chacha) from twhirl
Oh, dang. I mis-liked. Srsly. *shrug* Oops. - Ken Kennedy
Duncan Riley
Duncan, your son needs his own blog. - Cyndy
Declan vs Gillmor... FIGHT!!! - Paul Montgomery
Duncan Riley
Interesting song :-) - Duncan Riley
Duncan you are a Hippie Teche! Stop uploading Porn to FF, before they Ban you! LOL - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
The song is odd, but it's a neat concept. I did debate long and hard with myself about whether I wanted this to end up in my feed, though. - Voyagerfan5761
nudity in ff!!!! scandal!!! *lool* - Dieter Schwarz
This is not Wikipedia, we do not Censor! lol - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Igor, there is ZERO nudity in this clip, it's all blocked out. - Duncan Riley
Duncan I have X-Ray vision and I can see it All. LOL - Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
working on this x-ray vision thing too! ;) - Dieter Schwarz
