My dad just told me a story which, I think, epitomises his personality. He attended a legal seminar on Friday (required attendance for all practicing lawyers to continue their legal education). When he got there, he sat at the back and listened to his iPod and ignoring the lecturers. One of the organisers noticed this and approached him about it,...
One of the organisers noticed this and approached him about it, to which dad responded by pulling out the seminar information sheet and quoting that "to obtain their points, lawyers are required to attend the seminar and have their name checked off the list." Satisfying the requirements did not require his attention or learning. He proceeded to point out that since he had attended and had his name checked off, he could do - and would continue to do - whatever the fuck he pleased.

Unfortunately, the flip side to this is he has made enemies out of a few people (judges included), which certainly makes his job a bit more difficult to do.
