From the page: "The cultivation of genetically modified maize has caused a drastic reduction in organic cultivation of this grain and is making their coexistence practically impossible. This is the main conclusion reached in one of the first field studies in Europe carried out by a researcher of the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, who has analysed the situation in Catalonia and Aragon, Europe's main producers of transgenic foods." - Mahdi Ebrahimi
Numerous studies over the past four decades have established that pesticides, which are typically applied at the land surface, can move downward through the unsaturated zone to reach the water table at detectable concentrations. - Mahdi Ebrahimi
"With two currently functioning orbiters, and five more missions planned in the next year, Earth's Moon may soon have seven active probes operated by five nations, with even more coming soon. NASA's plans to return humans to the Moon by 2020 are moving steadily ahead, with some concrete prototypes and initial designs beginning to emerge. Called the Constellation Program, NASA's vision involves new and upgraded launch vehicles, exploration vehicles, autonomous rovers, new spacesuits, crew and cargo vehicles, and much more. Here are seven photographs of our possible future on the Moon, and a look back, with ten images from our last visits with the Apollo missions, more than 36 years ago now." - Mahdi Ebrahimi via Bookmarklet
the women look beautiful. the men look disgustingly buff and over pumped - Caroline
@Anna At UCLA Tue & Thu 6:30-9:30 pm, there's an "Open Gym" run by Brian and Terry Youngblood if you're still tumbling. It's a great friendly community, and Brian & Terry are the sweetest people. Park away from UCLA (if you're short of cash) and stand by the door & ask someone to sponsor you in as a guest ($5). Tell Terry you're a friend of mine. One of my friends in Seattle learned his first RO-HS (round-off back-handspring) at the age of 54! - Mitchell Tsai
Unfortunately the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center closed diving to non-team members about 12 yrs ago. You could check to see if they allow diving again. They have some 1/2-meter springboards, not just the 1-3-5-7.5-10. UCLA has open springboard diving times at the Sunset Rec Canyon. - Mitchell Tsai
@Mitchell T--thanks buddy! yeah, my friend was a student @ UCLA some years back and I went in and got my tumble on--it was great! I'm actually applying to Grad School there in the fall, and if I am accepted, I will be one happy tumbling fool for the next few years! - Anna Haro
Nice. What program are you applying to? Maybe I know some of the professors. P.S. Get to know the professors in the department ...before... you go. They might be on your admission committee. Probably 50% of grad school admissions are already pre-spoken for... - Mitchell Tsai
@MT--...sigh...way to piss on my parade Mitchell! j/k. I would love to attend, but I'm not putting all my eggs in the Bruin basket. I'm applying for a MFA in screenwriting. - Anna Haro
@Anna Any interest in attending this summer program in screenwriting at UCLA? http://filmprograms.ucla.edu/s... Didn't mean to rain on your parade. It's kind of the way things work. My brother was advising a friend on how to get into the digital animation industry, and he said go to the major conferences, and you'll probably get a job because you & the other person both love Japanese Anime... - Mitchell Tsai
It's just a way of getting on the inside track. Also, if you meet people & maintain relationships, it'll help you wherever you go... - Mitchell Tsai
@MT--oh no, I'm aware--it's all about networking. So yeah, thanks for the suggestions. I just had to throw in the "piss on my parade" part because I'm a big smart ass, but I do appreciate your helpful tips! - Anna Haro
The "numbers game" of just sending in an application is the more common, harder road to take... It's easier to get known as a real person. - Mitchell Tsai
Remove Mugabe, stop these ridiculous "war veteran" farm seizures, install proper management (of whatever hue) of the farms and maybe Zim could feed Africa once again. Double score. - John Samuelson
I really worry about Ethiopian people. they are very kind and innocent. malnutrition in Ethiopia will become a controversial issue. what will happen to the world? !!! - Mahdi Ebrahimi
@John: Mugabe is evil. you know how much is the inflation rate in Zimbabwe? it is unbelievable. - Mahdi Ebrahimi
1000% + per MONTH. Ethiopa itself should stop spending so much cash on military hardware. They are spending almost half a billion dollars on defence. - John Samuelson
Yes the Ethiopian Government must spend all resource for people and fight with malnutrition. i think they spend more than half a billion dollar for defense!!! - Mahdi Ebrahimi
That's the published budget. Of course they get their military hardware from us these days, so discounting, hidden funding and so on probably mean the true spending is much more. - John Samuelson
but the Ethiopian government claim our country never encounter food crisis. this is so funny.but my Ethiopian friends said: we have fundamental problem with Food and sanitary. - Mahdi Ebrahimi
How could such beautiful people live under such ugly circumstances? What a crime. - Chris Baskind
@Chris: Ethiopian are really kind and real human. they are innocent but their governer .... - Mahdi Ebrahimi
