"In the US's quest for technological domination, they may be shooting themselves in the foot. Right now we email and chat and post in forums, all venues that are easily monitored. With this in mind, I would like to point out two things: first, there is no technology that cannot be broken. Gov't systems have been hacked repeatedly, and will probably continue to be hacked. Second, the over-reliance on computerized systems leaves plenty of room for good old fashioned human ingenuity to work effectively. China's censorship of the net has been cited as an example, with bloggers getting arrested, etc. Certainly, Chinese protesters are using the net, but they are also using other methods, traditional, difficult to monitor methods. If I you were a subversive, what is to stop you from placing an inverted 7-up can on the third fence post at a certain busy intersection.
