I have stopped Cc-ing my FriendFeed updates automatically to Twitter. It feels liberating. Has anyone else done this?

Stopped doing that by defaiult the second week here; am doing it on a case-by-case basis. But then I don't read, nor couldn't care less about Twitter.

Rodrigo: I have no beef with Twitter. I just use FriendFeed differently than I use Twitter, and I don't want to mix them as much as I was.

I hate it when people send everything from FF to Twitter. I sometimes get followed by people on Twitter and their entire profile is a sea of ff.im links. Why don't they just subscribe to me in FriendFeed?

I never did it, because most of my friends on Twitter hated it. And it felt a bit like I was spamming them, to be honest.

Does anyone here use Google Notebook? If so, I know that they won't maintain it any longer. But will they delete it completely? Would be nice to know if I should continue to use it or just move along.

I still use it but I don't know what it's future will be. I don't want to move on because Notebook, in addition to being easy & super-useful, has the added convenience of using the same Google logon as gmail, calendar, docs, etc.

Yeah that's what I like too. That I don't need to log in to another web service, I like to have everything under the same roof.

I loved Google Notebook. AFAIR they announced that they will keep the data and accounts for existing users until a final notice, but won't allow new registrations and won't provide any new updates/bugfixes. I recently moved all my notes to Google Docs using a single document for each notebook with headings to split the content. It works well, but it's not quite as snappy as Notebook. At the end of the day I still have my notes available everywhere so all good.

lemuel: Yeah I use Evernote occasionally, but I liked the simplicity of GNotebook. Evernote is just so much.

Why doesn't Google Docs create a "notetaking" browser plugin that saves the result to a doc (instead of to Notebook)?

I think they are no longer offering support for it but letting people who have accounts already continue to use them indefinitely: http://googlenotebookblog.blogspot.com/2009... There are lots of alternatives if you're looking for them.

Evernote all the way. I was an avid G Notebook fan and my switch to Evernote has been seemless. Evernote also has a desktop version that syncs with online account and a great iPhone app as well.

I basically switched to Zoho. I'd rather use Google Notebook, but Zoho is comparable.

I think they've already disappeared the firefox extension, unless you already have it installed. The extension made a big contribution to G notebook's utility.

I still make heavy use of Google Notebook, mostly at work, running in the Firefox sidebar (so I don't miss the addon too much). Love the clean interface and the convenience cause I'm pretty much always logged into and using my Google account. If they'd delete it without announcement (hope they never will at all) I'd be f****d. Made a backup to Evernote but that site just doesn't feel right.

First like most, I didn't even realize Compuserve was still around. I think I was about 12 when I first got on Compuserve. Like many it was my introduction to the Internet. I remember leaving for AOL, and being sort of sad, because Compuserve seemed cooler to me

It sure was. My first time online was with Compuserve in 1980, right before H&R Block bought them. It was the only service that was available on the Amiga also. I just checked, and they're still in business. I had no idea they were around still.

Did you unhook the battery before replacing the Radio? Some car have kill relays if the radio is removed with the battery hook up to prevent the car from being stolen also.

It's nice, I suppose. I don't do it all the time but it's nice once in a while to take a moment to say hello and wish people a good day before jumping into the venting of world events or stressing over the daily troubles or setting off the flood of content that people may or may not be interested in.
