Pretty amazing - Dan Morrill AKA Techwag
go leo!!! - Jay Martinez
wow. I've never seen that side of Leo. - jbrotherlove
naa, no way Cristo. - Zee.
Mike later said "it was important to disclose that. Palm canceled [TC's] review unit after [TC] wrote critical articles". - Jérôme Flipo
i've never seen Leo lose it like this before - Zee.
What Cristo said. - Anthony Citrano from BuddyFeed
"I can assure you Mike Arrington will never be on anything I do again. - Leo Laporte" - Jérôme Flipo
I don't get Arrington's point. Many journalists/bloggers get free review units all the time, and Leo said he had to return his. *shrugs* Arrington is rapidly becoming the Mark Cuban of the tech world. - LANjackal
C'mon, even Arrington's Wikipedia entry says he's a troll: http://en.wikipedia.org/w... (I didn't do it). - Rob H.
can't stop watching Leo say "fuck you guys..." - Zee.
I laughed my as of. I mean holy shit man. - Matt Ruiz
Cristo: Arrington is quite frankly an asshole. I don't get why anyone reads TechCrunch or anything related to the site, I've blacklisted it from my news sources - LANjackal
@Cristo: I don't doubt that's the case. That's why I deliberately refrain from reading articles by bloggers who behave in that manner or are venomously biased. - LANjackal
@cristo: but Dvorak is smart, nice, and well-rounded. - Anthony Citrano from BuddyFeed
Can someone give me a quick play-by-play? The network here at the library is too slow for video. - cecily
:D Thanks, Cristo. - cecily
Leo Laporte has always been classy, even way back in the 90's when he was doing his tech radio show. That's why people listen to and respect him. The gillmor gang started out interesting like 5 years ago and quickly devolved into a sour morass of bitter tech journalists talking over each other, fighting, blathering and pontificating. They try to act as wise, old sages dispensing salient... more... - mike
That's weird, I mean sure Arrington is being an ass - every single pre-launch review you see was a "free Pre" there's no reason anyone would think otherwise, but why suddently turn things off after that? That said, I've never seen that show before. - Richard Lawler
Oops - accidentally deleted my comment. The jist was GG needs Leo (a professional broadcaster) more than it needs Arrington (a professional writer). That said, it looked a bit staged to me. - Martin Bryant
did this happen today? - J. Abdul-Qahhar
@J yep - Zee.
@mike: embarrassment requires self-awareness. - Anthony Citrano from BuddyFeed
Sorry Leo, but you just fed the trolls. Entertainment at its finest. - Shannon
Are we going to find out a week from now this is like the MTV movie awards ala Eminem and Bruno, that it was all staged? - Laura Zickus
I think they've already kissed and make up - Jerome Gotangco
Laura, it definitely wasn't staged. I can tell you that Steve & Tina Gillmor were shocked, and then Steve furious that his show was cut off without his say-so. What bothers me about the whole thing is that the one who didn't do anything (steve) ends up looking like an asshole in the aftermath, inviting the Twit community to a free-for-all at his expense. He's a big boy, can defend himself, but it's undeserved and does a disservice to his work. - Karoli
His perception was that his integrity of an honest review was questioned since he had a special hi tech unit for 7 day review. When a person is honest and their integrity is questioned it's extremely insulting. Whether the person intended it or not. From what I've seen Leo Laporte is genuine and authentic as well as transparent. Hopefully this gets resolved in the best possible way for both of them. - James Stratford
I was watching Leo's twitlive.tv stream for hours leading up to this. Unless they palnned it the day before, which seems unlikely, it wasn't staged. Even if I hadn't been watching I would have a hard time thinking it was staged. Leo hasn't ever done a stunt like that before so why would he start now? - jccalhoun
Leo went a little nuts. Yikes. - Johnny
Leo rules. It was time that someone said it live and public in his shit face. Arrington is an asshole. Leo +1000; - Ryo / Fuck Facebook
Part of it is jealousy on Arrington's part that he was promised a pre-release review product and didn't get it. Whereas Leo did. Jealousy is what this is. - Diego Barros 
way to go Leo. - Alan Le
Both parts of the show are here: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/TheGill... - Jack
If you've "been in the valley since '89" and haven't heard of Leo Laporte until FriendFeed, then you've been under a rock in the valley. He's been very well known in tech circles for at least the last 10 years. - Chris Luckhardt
We each live under our own little rocks. I'm sure everybody involved in pretty much any field can name three or four or six people in that field who *everybody* MUST have heard of. Who you have or haven't heard of is a pretty lame way to keep score. - Ken Sheppardson
Astonishing. I have watched Leo for years and have always been impressed with his amiable, good natured demeanor. I'm sad to see him lose composure like this, even if he was "provoked". In the space between stimulus and response we always have choice. - Sean Oliver
Leo is the man! - Bradley Goetsch
LOL I see someone has come through and sanitized all his comments and deleted himself......again......LOL - Matthew DeVries
Wow, totally shocking. Leo is nomally so calm, this is really baffling; out of character moment. Leo really lost it there ... Oops! That was majorly ackward - Susan Beebe
It's obvious this thing is going too far when Arrington's wikipedia page gets hacked with the 'troll' bit. - George Hall (Australia) from BuddyFeed
Wikipedia defacer and clueless pottymouth added yesterday's video and a comment to this (stub class) bio. Alexa is Becomeing Completely Worthless - http://www.dailyblogtips.com/alexa-i...
Impressive collection of multiple examples to prove the point. - Ontario Emperor from fftogo
They really need to work on their grammer its "Becoming" and it isn't becoming completely worthless it is worthless. - Nicholas James
"Becoming?" - shelisrael1
I'm with Shel -- was Alexa ever worthwhile? - Brian Sullivan
Yes, it is really worthless... The new structure didn't work at all.. But are there any alternatives? - Tuncay Tuncer
Where/how does Alexa get its data? - Gabe
Is Alexa still ignoring browsers other than IE? Because that would certainly explain the huge discrepancies. It still gives an insight about how the mainstream thinks. - Vincent van Wylick
@Vincent van Wylick I don't think so, toolbar is the criteria and I didn't see any problem with firefox - Tuncay Tuncer
This was true 2 years ago. - Mike Reynolds
My mistake, thanks for the correction. - Vincent van Wylick
becoming? already was there - h1ro
No, it actually has negative worthfulness (because realizing you have no useful stats at all can be better than having misleading stats). - Philipp Lenssen
I've detailed this online before but I'll repeat it here: I was looking into Alexa rankings years ago (between Sep 2004 May 2005). Just by using the Alexa IE toolbar, I managed to get a *non-existent* website (i.e. a random domain which wasn’t even registered) to rank around 1,500,000. (It entered at around 3,000,000 and took 2 weeks to climb to 1,500,000.) That might not sound like... more... - Tony Ruscoe
I also have access to two sites (the site where I work at and my own site http://oyeme.com). Alexa consistently misreports the traffic to both and since their "upgrade" they even dropped Oyeme from top 100,000 when it gets more users/pageviews than my work's site. I say this to everyone I know. - Jorge Escobar

Cuil shows us how not to launch a search engine - http://news.cnet.com/cuil-sh...
Performance is...well, laughable - http://is.gd/16yX - Stephen Pierzchala
yeah you can tell why these guys aren't at google anymore - Chris Harris
Their system setups is interesting. How they index only Sports data on select databases and so on. Also why do they display results in 2/3 columns? It's so hard to follow that - Bartek Ciszkowski
What amazes me is that we, bloggers, started to hype the search engine based on what the company was willing to share - without even taking it a test run. And now many will have to admit they were too positive when it was not deserved. - Svetlana Gladkova from twhirl
for real - Sarah Perez
Svetlana: all it took is for me to do a single search on it for me to see that it just wasn't going to stand up to a deep analysis. I'm very glad I am getting off of the PR treadmill of "keep up with Mashable and Techcrunch and write about everything based on press releases." Why is this on CNN and NPR already? They have a good PR team, that's why. Played! - Robert Scoble
Not ready for prime time. Great press kills a bad product faster. Apologies to Bill Bernbach. - Dave Martin
In this day and age, is there really room for a new search engine? I'm all for innovation but the likelihood of someone making a sizeable dent in Google's market share or even challenging Live Search is quite low, no? - Dave Stevens
Lesson: Don't go for big press until you're ready. One of my VC friends advises people only to go for ~5,000 users in the beginning (so many beginners want traffic, traffic, traffic). Then you can test your product, change the interface, etc... before you get into a "New Coke" and "old Coke" situation. 5,000 is enough to give your product/website a good testing, and avoids this Cuil failure. - Mitchell Tsai
I'm unimpressed by Cuil. It's not how big their index is, it's about how accurate their results are. From my early experiments, I don't get what I'm searching for -- isn't that what a search engine is supposed to do? - wrecks
I also think that it is early for Cuil to launch, but it is good that some people are trying to create alternatives to Google’s tyranny in search. Without any competition in their core business, Google will eventually become the next Microsoft - Kerem Ozkan
mmmm... I wonder why so much hype around of _utility_ ? search has been utility for years, yet everyone and his dog into PR for yet-another-search... was it GOOG price on IPO which makes you blind repeaters? try to remember how many startups you've seen recently in major continent-wide utility business, like electricity or water supply? yes, none... oh, yeah, law & rules are not written for bloggers... they can even refuse math and other natural science ;) - A.T.
Not impressed. While the layout for results is pretty, it doesn't give me any information. Ran a search on my own site - Dad info - and it got the bloody thumbnail wrong :( Dig a little deeper on a search where you know the net landscape well (eg vanity search) and the results are often bizarre - the photos acommpanying the SERPS are irrelevant/random/wierd. Can't help thinking that the next generation of search will be people centric rather than page centric - I can find more interesting stuff on FF. - Tom Beardshaw
i saw an insert on BBC news today on this, went over to do vanity search just to test, back came some old articles of comments i left last year on tech blogs, now it's unavailable, plus the dark background is awful ;( FAIL! - Mario Olckers
I got 2 searches in last night - disappointed with results - and then it crashed and 'went down for maintenance' - yeah, not overwhelmingly impressed. - Lucretia Pruitt
Harsh but somewhat fair criticism. That said no service has ever been perfect when rushed *glares at twitter* - Mo Kargas
may be - accesine
Despite other criticism: I like the relaxed feel of the 3-column presentation in Cuil. Cuil, Viewzi, and identi.ca have relaxing and comforting front pages (nice color scheme). - Mitchell Tsai
@Mitchell - There's something wrong if the best thing 'bout a website is the color scheme - Yuvi
@Robert: They obviously have a great PR team - making everyone repeat their claims of how great the product is. And I am glad I have decided to wait until it is live and do a search before hyping it myself - I would have felt it was unfair to our readers otherwise. - Svetlana Gladkova from twhirl
Svetlana: This is what happens when the marketing dept moves faster than the tech dept. Often it's the reverse. Hard to coordinate the two. - Mitchell Tsai
Mitchell: True but I feel it is not really lack of coordination and instead it is a deliberate move to get all the positive coverage they can and hope no one will see the problems. After all, as a marketing person myself I don't think they are unable to notice the irrelevant results themselves. - Svetlana Gladkova from twhirl
Svetlana: Since the "glamor self-search" results work well for university professors and some famous people, I think it's a miscalculation from having too small a test group (since they've been concerned with a stealth launch). They probably didn't test enough middle-level people (e.g. me with only 47,000 pages on Google) to see the problems. - Mitchell Tsai
Rather than a stealth launch, It seems that in this case a better process would have been (1) alpha-launch, generate buzz by selectively letting in tech bloggers, test their stuff, make bloggers feel good by being in on something early, about 200-500 people (2) private beta-launch, quiet, limited to 5,000 people (3) New York Times launch. - I think their team was too cocky (e.g. we're smarter), not realizing they would shoot themselves in the foot. - Mitchell Tsai
I went to work this afternoon to get away from the Crewl Cuil conversation. What were the teachers talking about ? Cuil. *sigh* - LPH™ and his dog P™
Mitchell: Very true, when I read they decided they were ready for everyone on day 1 and decided not to add beta to the logo, I was very excited - finally someone dares to launch a working product from the beginning. And after actually trying it out I could not understand why they chose not to go with private beta the way you describe. It could have potential but it definitely is not ready for prime time yet. - Svetlana Gladkova from twhirl
Erick Schonfeld
Google Beats Cuil Hands Down In Size And Relevance, But That Isn’t The Whole Story - http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r...
Comparing the estimated number of results isn't a very accurate technique. To really do size comparisons, you need narrow queries where you can verify all of the results. Here's a random example: http://www.google.com/search... (3 on google, 0 on Cuil) - Paul Buchheit
The random word test doesn't work so well either. Google often returns pages that don't have those words, either because it found synonyms, or because it considered anchors. And it has broken cache highlighting that can show you a snippet with the words but can't find the words on the cached page. For some matches it won't show you the cached page, so there's no proof or explanation of why it gave you that page. - Amit Patel
Amit, if the count is small it's possible to manually check each returned page for the required keywords. Of course there are still other problems with the "random narrow query" technique for testing index size, but it's probably a lot more accurate than trusting and comparing the reported estimated results counts. - Simon
I use vantity searches as my standard test case as my names's fairly uncommon. A search for my full name or just my last name returns nothing, one for my first name returns my LinkedIn profile--which contains my first and last names. Also, "Due to overwhelming interest..The search engine is momentarily unavailable as we add more capacity." - Reto Meier from fftogo
cuil.com doesnt load for me (503 Service Unavailable). tsk -> fail - Chris Hofmann
Liked for Paul's comment. - Matt Cutts
yeah I posted a few narrow queries on cuil and got no results - Nick O'Neill
Amit, are those actual false matches? I've had that happen a few times, but always assumed that it was some kind of issue where the query matched in the base index but not more recent one, or something like that. The broken cached links are super annoying though -- it's probably the most irritating Google bug for me. - Paul Buchheit
liked for the comments here :-) - mathew ingram
Paul: I didn't look closely enough to be sure, but consider the query [allintext: +amit pen chains lemurs]. Google returns The Random Quotes Game, with a snippet that includes lemurs and pen, but not amit. The cached page claims at the top that it doesn't have lemurs or pen, yet it does. The cached page doesn't include amit, and the current page doesn't include amit. Note that allintext: is supposed to discard anchor matches. Perhaps there's some synonym of amit, but + and "" don't help. - Amit Patel
did a vanity search after seeing BBC news insert on it, returned old articles of comments i left last year on couple of tech blogs, dark background is horrible, now i see it is unavailable - major FAIL! ;( - Mario Olckers
why does the front page say "cuil" when the website is "cuill"? - Justin Long
Hilarious. Did a vanity search for "justin long unreached" and while the articles are indeed related, the photos are clearly not. None of them are photos of me (unsurprising since there are probably no photos of me on the web) but there are plenty of photos attached to the articles - of the actor !! - Justin Long

I have patience, but do you really believe that after all these hours there will be any other fixes? I am pretty sure their backup is couple of months old and atm that's all they can do. If it doesn't get completely fixed, I'm off Twitter forever. I don't have the time and energy to rebuild everything from scratch just to see it screwed in the end. - Alex Popescu from twhirl
@Alex: That's the major problem with the missing followers issue: many people claimed they stay on Twitter instead of moving anywhere for the sake of the community they have here and unwillingness to build it elsewhere. - Svetlana Gladkova from twhirl
This is getting a wee bit ridiculous, I agree. The only reason for staying on Twitter was the community and quality of the circle of friends built up over time. Now that is completely f**ked up and if they cant get this right, even with all the new engineers from the Summiza buyout, I really will start to lose my Mojo for Twitter and just not care anymore about community and just let if fade out of my consciousness. This Stockholm syndrome is bullshit!!! - Mario Olckers
I'm wondering how many screwups will it take to kill twitter. - Alexandru Savu

Lookout. Next thing you know the phrase "White Christmas" will be deemed to be biased and offensive because it doesn't include other colors. - Rob Safuto
Great line Rob. Yeah let's picket science. - loren feldman
I'm afraid the creationist fanatics already have that angle covered. - Donna Mugavero
So it has nothing to do with "trim"? Shit. - William, CPU Media
To keep your "accounts in the black" is a positive use of the term. Guess the dude is overdrawn. - William, CPU Media
This is just sad. This is our country. We are doomed. - loren feldman
Stupidity, nay, idiocy, is colorblind. - Frank Roche
I completely agree that it's a racist term. The whole language is racist. It's intrinsic in the language, so anyone who has a problem with it should learn speak (and use on a daily basis) another language that is less racist. </sarcasm> - Juan Aguilar from twhirl
Can Salaam E. Bologny tell a white lie? - William, CPU Media
William - LOL, Im just so blown away by this. - loren feldman
Its shit like this that is really going to hurt Obama's chances. - loren feldman
I told my pal the Bad Astronomer that he's going to have to find new terminology. - Donna Mugavero
in related news, my friend said I looked white as a ghost today--racist! - Jason Calacanis
This is crazy. What are we going to call all those suck ups in the world now? - Melissa dela Merced from twhirl
So these people actually run an entire city...?! WAUW. Danish local politics is so boring compared to this. We have waiting lists in the hospitals, old people that don't get their homes cleaned weekly anymore and schools in poor conditions. Thank God we don't have these problems... - Dennis Bjørn Petersen from twhirl
“Its shit like this that is really going to hurt Obama's chances.” … why? - Tsega Dinka
Give me a #$^ break!! This PC crap has gone way overboard! It's getting so that you can't say anything anymore without someone getting offended. This is an excellent example of someone being hyper sensitive to a very commonly used term that has absolutely no racial meaning. - Jeff P. Henderson
I have black shoes on and white socks...so..err..what happens now? - Mo Kargas
@ Mo Kargas: Nothing, that's just poor style =P - Dennis Bjørn Petersen from twhirl
My loudspeakers at home are black and my iPod earbuds are white... Oh, my, does this mean I can only listen to Hip Hop at home? - Henk de Kruyff from twhirl
@Dennis *phew* Fashion (lack rather) trumps racism :D - Mo Kargas
Geez, this is more ridiculous that Chinese deleting stories about famous ancient generals, simply because they fight races that are now part of the Chinese "minorities"... - Felix Wong

Debate: Does the President need to know how to use a Computer/Web? - http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r...
No. That skill has no bearing on my vote. - Hutch Carpenter
I think it's important that he has people who know the internet (it wouldn't be a good trait if he/she didn't do that, and I'd consider that behind the times) but I don't think the actual president needs to know how to do that. Frankly, there are a MUCH more important things that I feel the president should master than the web.... I might actually consider the president to be wasting time if he decided to take that task on just to take it on. - Kate Brodock from twhirl
The President will never need to use their own computer while in office; however, knowing how the web functions, its role in the economy, and how 90+% of the country uses it is very important in the 21stC - Nicholas Molnar from twhirl
Seriously... the president needs to pick good advisers and have experience in government. Hire someone to explain Facebook to him. The main decisions involve foriegn policy, not whether twitter is better than plurk. - Soulhuntre from twhirl
Nope. But he should understand Web/tech regulatory issues. - Shey, Jamaican of FF
Wouldn't the President need to know how to use email to communicate with the White House staff? - Rishabh Mishra (p248)
I think the President of the United States in the 21st century should be capable of operating a computer and making use of mainstream internet services. - Jason Wehmhoener
Is pushing "The Button" considered computer use? - Andrew Smith
they should know how to read e-mail & google. - clarke thomas
I think a President does need to know how to use a computer. Question is, would he/she use a PC or a Mac - Richie Escovedo
So, so many more important aspects of what makes someone a good leader for a whole nationt han whether they can surf the frickin' web. - Soulhuntre from twhirl
I think there are some very important issues that my grandma does not understand, because she doesn't understand computers and the web - Charlie from twhirl
Technology is already a big part of our lives and will only grow. If a President can't even operate a computer, they are out of touch with the people they represent. That's the truth. - Shawn Farner from twhirl
This is 2008, if you can't surf the web and do other basic tasks with a computer, you are out of touch in a big way. For most people, that doesn't matter. For the president, you don't get to be excused. - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
Each Human needs to know how to use a Web. Is President a Human?:) - Igor Poltavskiy
@jason, well stated. - Clay Newton
Not sure if the president needs to know how to use the computer but I am pretty sure that he needs to know that he can't keep a war going for 100 years. - Krishnan Subramanian
I would think that it can be expected that a Presidential candidate should have had the time and the willingness to have learned how to use a computer before the duties of the President PERHAPS make it irrelevant. - Matthew Imakyure from twhirl
Similar discussion here: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Jim Stanger
Yes. Not having even basic computer skills in 2008 betrays a lack of curiosity and intellectual rigor. - Chris Baskind
Although my vote would depend more on the vision and positions of a candidate, I think that to be in the position of the most powerful person on the earth, you would need to have at least a minimum amount of knowledge, not just about PC's and the internet BTW. Imagine Medvedev or Putin sending an IM message that goes lost without a reply :-) - Marc Dierens
Of course. 80% of the country uses computers, and over 50% is on the Internet. It is a way of reaching his audience, the voters. It's now part of basic literacy skills. Does he have to spend the day online? Of course not. - Francine Hardaway
Yes. I'll second Chris Baskind's comment. - Eric Thompson
FYI: I blogged about this yesterday - http://tinyurl.com/42fqcp - Mike Keliher
communication is key. Yes. - Sean Oliver
This is a dumb question and a non-issue. It should be: Can the Candidate function as an everyday American using the tools, institutions and opportunities available to everyday people? - Andrew Feinberg
YES! Doh! - Susan Beebe
Andrew - Isn't that a bit harsh? There are no dumb questions? It is an issue whether or not you think it should be. To answer the question, I would like to see overall literacy and competency in my elected officials. - Mathew A. Koeneker
No. I'm tired of the issue being parsed and based on videos and sound-bites when the underlying one is whether or not the candidate is aware of the issues that everyday Americans face. It's one thing to be driven around and have people take care of your correspondence, advise you, and speak for you. That's ok. But you still need to be able to drive a car to really understand traffic and fill up a gas tank to see the price. Remember George H.W. Bush at the grocery store in 1992? - Andrew Feinberg
So by that logic, you would throw out McCain or Obama? - Mathew A. Koeneker
Neither of which, I am pretty sure, fill up their own cars with gas. - Mathew A. Koeneker
Although (and I can't believe I'm having this conversation) Obama's filled his tank a lot more recently than McCain has. But yes, a leader ought to be reasonably clued into what his constituents are doing / how they are interacting, etc. McCain's cluelessness about the 'net is obvious and a bit troubling. Having said that, I was annoyed when MSM was giving McCain crap for saying he "watched" Drudge, implying that he was describing it the same way as a TV show. That was unfair, because a lot of us... - Anthony Citrano
..would say we "watched" people online who we found interesting. I don't know whether McCain meant it that way or not, but I'm as sick of seeing people unfairly jump on McCain as I am the reverse. Let's stick to the real issues instead of this "gotcha" shit. - Anthony Citrano
There are more important things to worry about, but not gonna lie.. if my grandma can figure it out, I'd definitely love to be confident that our president would be able to check his email in a dire situation. - justine
The bigger issue is the one Andrew brought up. I want to know that the President has some basic understanding of the issues that will be coming up in the next 4-8 years. Those include amongst -many- others: mid-east politics, oil, stem-cells/genetic engineering, and yes regulatory issues surrounding the Internet. It's hard to deal with anything if you rely completely on your advisers. - Steve Spalding
Steve: scratch Mideast politics, as well as information technology, as a domain in which John McCain possesses any expertise -- he doesn't even understand the differences between Shiites and Sunnis. Basically, Lieberman whispers into McCain's ear, and McCain produces garbled renditions with a single message: WAR, WAR, WAR! Scary, considering that the Iraq War is costing Americans trillions of dollars while playing perfectly into the hands of Muslim fundamentalists. - Sean McBride
No, let him try to learn how to run a country first. Oops, silly me, ti's too late, he's leaving soon! - Ian May
Yes, they do, it is an important issue, the internet is quickly becoming or currently is the major means of communication in the world a basic lack of understanding of such a tool of communication and commerce - Justin Yost
Presidents have to know how to use computers & Internet. So they can understand how these tools can (have to) impact on the country and on the whole world's future (present!), regulation issues and so on.. a good balancing is required.. and it depends on the country in question. Presidents -have to- understand: they have to use them, and it is really important that they have good advisers. - Thierry R. Andriamirado
Thierry - McCain's advisers are dominated by the same neoconservatives who engineered the Iraq War. So not to worry. - Sean McBride
Yes, for the same reasons that I would expect a political leader to know how to use a telephone. - Andy Murdoch

Nothing better than the short period when you can put them on the couch and walk away, knowing that they have no ability to move or otherwise hurt themselves. Soon you'll be in the weeds because every time a new gadget comes out, you'll have to buy 3 of them (1 for you and 2 for them) "But Dad, Patrick Scoble had one, why don't we each get one?" [Note to readers, I'm relatively certain I read somewhere that PS buys his cool toys himself, but it's a funny anyway] - David Thomas

Want a Twitter app with Summize integration, replies, Tweets, and groups in one desktop window? Check out http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/
I would like a twitter app that would make twitter work :) - (jeff)isageek
I want a twitter that works :) - directeur from NoiseRiver
Tweetdeck is very nice. Breaking tweets out into @ replies and groups makes sense. Pretty, too. - Leo Laporte
Excellent! I'm just not that into all the dark gray. - kennbell
'scuse me while i wipe up this drool, but that looks hot! - Sarah Perez
This is very nice. Love the grouping feature. Makes it a lot easier to follow tweets. - Dave Rutter
ok, see that got all screwed up just now, had to delete & start over. - TheMacMommy from twhirl
so what I meant to say was, I like tweetdeck for trying to improve on apps like twirl or twitterific for that matter, but I'd still love to see some über combination of tweetdeck & twirl that lets you group, customize color in UI, post using ping.fm and receive more than just tweets like FF does - not so much a firehose but more like a spiffy detachable shower head w/the different dial settings. Come to Mamma! - TheMacMommy from twhirl
Checking it out now, thanks Louis! - Daniel Smith from twhirl
I like it Louis - thanks for the tip .. even though there are acouple of things I would probably like as options it is very workable in the short time I have been using it - Steven Hodson
I really like this so far, it'll be interesting to see what future plans holds. I'd like to see a tad more customization of the client itself. Nice so far though. - Nick
Nice that you can keep twittering even when Twitter is down. Categories/groups/tags is clearly a direction Twitter user needs are heading. Also need an app, though, that can handle multiple Twitter accounts. I tried Twhirl but after a while kept getting timeouts on the 2nd open account. Maybe that's Twitter's fault, not Twhirl's. - Gordon Vaughan
I still wonder why all of these apps default with a dark background. - Caleb Elston
Just saw it with my 9-y-o daughter. Animation was amazing and it was visually attractive. Story was cute, but not great. I think that Monsters Inc., the Incredibles and even Toy Story had better writing. Most interesting thing to me was that more than half the people in the theater were adults with no children. Definitely a bit of a geeky crowd, different than you might expect for a Disney/Pixar flick. All that said, Nice. Now all I need is a blackberry version (that also handles friendfeed) :) - Barry Graubart from twhirl
Using it .. nice. Try clicking on the photo. Looks like most of us need to go higher rez! - Charlie Anzman
pretty slick...just not picking up all my twitter friends though for some reason. - Zee.
Very nice and still very-very buggy (Air Linux) - Czar
Ok, another ugly black twitter client. I want an Air app with some brushed metal feel to it. Having something on my desktop that doesnt match the rest of the windows makes me feel like Im on windows. - Colby Olson
I would rather pay for Flickr than put my photos on Facebook to be fodder for advertisers. - Andrew Feinberg
Are there any other Twitter services/apps with the Grouping functionality? Really loving that. - Bryan Landers
looks excellent. love the "maximized view" for real twitter addicts. though I can't imagine there are many left that are addicted, since, well, you know. can't really be addicted to twitter when it's down all the time - Mark Bao
Thanks! I'll check it out over the next few days! - Soulhuntre from twhirl
This is lovely. Funny how some really nice apps sneak up on you. Thanks for linking! - mark.kemperman from feedalizr
nice but I doubt it fits the workflow now that twitter is a tiny bit of it - Dobromir Hadzhiev
thanks Louis, very cool app, what do you think of the group service? - John Cass from Alert Thingy
I like the group service, but I love the Summize integration more. I've watched my search for TweetDeck just blow up today, and the app hasn't crashed once or locked up - which is saying something despite the fact it's been open all day. - Louis Gray
