So, after 1.5 hours of washing, chopping, and mincing, we have pico de gallo. Tomato, purple onion, poblano, jalapeno, bell pepper, fresh garlic, lime juice, sea salt, fresh ground pepper. Oh, and of course: CILANTRO =D This is the biggest bowl we own, about a foot in diameter. It was so full we had to mix it by hand.

Cilantro is apparently one of those things you either love or hate. I don't find it tastes soapy, but it's definitely a peculiar herbal flavor. And Denton, I'll ask him =)

Carlos, I really want butcher block counter tops (REALLY WANT). However, now I'm making do with this 2ft by 2ft rolling island with a butcher block top. Actual end grain wood, and the little hopper where you scrape the trimmings is amazing. We got it at Home Depot and they still carry something similar.

Butcher block ain't cheap. And they take a lot of maintenance. Hello? Lazy?

Actually, it's not all that bad, Josh. I priced it out and I can get 2.5 inch thick butcher block counters for less than granite. Apply tung oil on a schedule to keep it clean and stain resistant. If it gets burned/scratched/stained you just sand it a bit, apply more tung oil, and you're good to go. But this particular island? Less than $200 at Home Depot and it has a drawer, 2 shelves, and a rack on the side. Worth every penny.

That looks fantastically tasty! That's a lot of pico. We probably make fresh pico de gallo 3 - 5 times a week and we'd still never make that much of it. Will you guys eat all of it this week.

We made this for the cook out we had tonight. After sitting in the fridge overnight it decreased in volume by about a third, which is expected. The flavor is better too. Between the party and the guac I made, about a third of that is now gone. We're going to add cold shrimp to the rest and have that for dinner tomorrow: just a big bowl of it.

Mario, we'll just call this gringa salad then =) And like Sean said, you can use a food processor for the onion and cilantro, but the tomatoes turn into mush in my experience. We like ours very chunky (as evidenced by the picture), so the smooth texture from the food processor doesn't work.

What does it taste like with the bell pepper in it? I've never had bell pepper in mine before.

I like adding them more for the crunch than for the flavor, actually. They hold up well to the lime juice and don't get mushy. A good flavorful bell pepper, though, adds a nice sweetness that offsets the tart and hot really well.

Tina, et. al. - Here's a good salsa recipe for you: Drain and blend a can of pineapple chunks with a couple of canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. Sweet, smoky and hot at the same time. Rocks with chips or on any kind of grilled chicken or fish.

I have a real mystery. A number of URLs without any TLD are resolving for me. For example, http://fmd/ http://fml/ http://fmk/ http://fmca/ http://fmc/ http://gafd/ http://gafa/. These probably won't work for you. Any idea how this is happening? Is it converting the letters to an IP address?
Yes it's resolving to an IP address (like is normal with 'localhost', for example.) Check your /etc/hosts file. Otherwise maybe your isp or some proxy in between.

So it works on my school's connection too. My hosts file is normal. I don't use OpenDNS as far as I know. I'm curious how far this reaches and how consistent it is. There is a potential that people are sitting on million dollar URLs and don't even know it!

I can't. But watching all three back to back FTW. My heart still pounds thinking of scenes from the movies. Every character, every scene, the special effects, cinematography, the soundtrack, to feeling emotion from droids. DROIDS! Just a beep or sounds combined with their slight movements make me feel waht they feel. Vader - is such a complex character and I can feel what he's feeling by the slight tilt of his helmet too. Lucas is genius.

If you're ever in DC you should check out their club and record label 18th Street Lounge. It's a great old space with fireplaces and outdoor deck.. really chill and the music rocks. they're combination of latin, samba, reggae and jazz makes for a really smooth ride. just sit back and relax... Annie: because it could be a magazine unto itself. It's something coherent, it's my brain as editorial director. I don't HAVE to 'share/publish' the stuff, but I do so because it's important, and also a bookmarker for me. There are those that don't want to run all over hell and back chasing the originals. That's the value in having an editor, or um, 'filter' is the PC term now.

I like using the Friendfeed bookmarklet when I feel the urge to share a little bit more than just the title of the post. It really only takes a couple seconds longer than the single click in greader. (I still do the greader share for some less interesting things though)

Look at this link: http://www.google.com/reader... and god bless all the DEMAND FOR FULL RSS, because you don't have to leave and read elsewhere. But see, I'm not DOING it, it's just the structure. Organizing it coherently and selling ads against, sure, that's a bit diff.

This is also related to the big Seesmic discussion. Seesmic isn't private, it's private to use. It has functionality for non-public communication. Any video can live anywhere, be linked to, and access to that never comes close to the TOS. If it is so important Seesmic vids never leave Seesmic, then there needs to be a feature to make videos un-embeddable, like Youtube. Of course, that's a technical solution to a social issue but at least intent is there. Until then, the TOS is completely moot outside.

Well, that's the thing, I could see it more as "the oracle speaks" sort of deal. Perhaps a web site with a google talk URL to add the blog to your friends list in greader, or maybe not even that --- 'seed' it with a bunch of people you trust, maybe work out some sort of arrangment where multiple people can blog, make it viral. The only way it shows up is through shared items.

After I slept on it, I think I use the Friendfeed Share if I think it will have more activity 'now' and maybe has a little urgency. Since my Google Shares still come up here, that's more of a River of Me (lol runs through it), and that might no warrant discussion. It shows up later (and around elsewhere like Facebook). Baby Grays are here! The boy clocked in at 9:01 at 5 pounds, and the girl weighed in at 4 pounds, 3 oz at 9:02. Both healthy.

Due to the girl's smaller size, under 2 KG, she'll be in the NICU, but the boy is already with mom, getting acquainted. Kristine is in recovery from the C-section, but I expect will do well. On with a new stage!

Well done - the hard work starts now! Our youngest was in NICU for three weeks (he was 4 10 and had to be delivered seven weeks early as my wife had a life threatening condition), but the great thing about NICU baby's (well in the UK anyway) is that they get trained to sleep!!!
