"Superb interview!! Great coup - Richard is one savvy guy. I love his teeshirt and pin branding! 73% of all bloggers are using Twitter vs. 14% of the population. Hm, interesting stat! heh"

"I’m a BIG Guy Kawasaki fan – love this podcast. It’s always interesting with a new technology or trend how some folks get real adamant about how it should be used. I think there are as many ways to use Twitter as there are users!! Two thumbs up for Guy’s philosophy & strategy."

"Good stuff, Mike!! :) @Yura -- bit.ly is the best link shortener, so say the analysts! :) cli.gs does a good job too and there are several others that track stats, but apparently bit.ly has the best open rate. Oh, su.pr (StumbleUpon's link shortener) gets good reviews too. If you're into the data, here's a big analysis: http://searchengineland.com/analysi......"

"Really exciting post, Brian. I love this whole shift from CRM to SRM. I’m hearing the term ROI referred to as “Return on Influence” a lot now… and also just heard another definition when I had the pleasure of meeting Jeffrey Hayzlett, CMO of KODAK. Jeff challenged the audience, hungry for the holy grail of social media ROI, with “try Return on Ignorance.” I think the future of the social web is that those companies who will really thrive are the ones who are highest on the engagement charts. As consumers, we want to know these big brands – as well as small companies and service providers – are really listening deeply and taking action to make improvements. It’s one thing to listen, it’s another to really participate. Peter Shankman made a prediction recently that in the next 2-3 years we’ll all be on one giant social network… Google. (Lol!) I’m with you, Brian – the big socnets like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (and any new solid ones that spring up), will not be isolated standalones,..."

"Gary, how'd you get so smart???? heheeee -- really top notch. I love how you have a way of bringing things right home. Truly, all those things you mentioned that were the norm... even a few years ago, is totally amazing. "Every business is going to go into the content game... and should." Incredible nugget - I'm gonna quote you in my presos on this one too!! Luv ya!"

"Hi David - yes indeedy, there is a simple solution!! You need to create Friend Lists. There are a couple ways, the easiest is this: Click on Friends in the top blue navigation bar. Click on Create New List. Give the list a name, then select the friends you want to add by first starting to type in their name and they'll pop in - click on the image and it selects. Then save. Now, go into your Privacy settings (click Settings in the top blue nav bar, then Privacy). Adjust which content/features gets published to which list by selecting Custom. Also, on a different note but related to Friend Lists: on your Home Page -- you can now drag and drop your Friend Lists and the one you place at the very top above the News Feed filter will be your default view! Hope this helps! I have a few video tutorials on my YouTube channel at youtube.com/facebookmari and my Fan Page facebook.com/marismith. Any questions let me know!"

"Hey thanks for the shoutout in your post here, Jesse!! Much agreed with all the fuss about Twitter - I do love the site but Facebook will *always* be my first love. Lol - I actually just read a post someone put up saying I always wear an article of pale blue clothing because of my loyalty to Twitter. Um, no!! Someone got their facts mixed up there. LOL!! It's my fave color and my brand... just so happens Twitter chose the same color. tehee!!"

"Truly my pleasure - it's been fun to watch your growth. You've really gone from strength to strength too, and seem to also be an overnight success many years in the making!! ;)"

"Brilliant, Nick!! Just brilliant. Like you, I too have been immersed in studying social media technologies for the past few years... but what fascinates me most is human behavior and being able to make a bigger difference on the planet through the use of these technologies. Some say the world is getting smaller, I say the world is getting more connected. The raging success of social media can be attributed to our fundamental human need to know that we matter, to belong, to be included, acknowledged and validated. Sites like Facebook and Twitter make it easier than ever before to build and maintain core relationships that really add value. I like to challenge my audiences to think about how what they say in print, audio, video can ripple out and touch people's lives - just as if you were standing on a stage with a million people who are your ideal target market. What would you want to say to them, what call to action would you inspire them to make? This is perfectly feasible with..."

"Pssst - good news, Facebook recently moved the minimum number of required fans to get a username back down from 100 to just 25!! Good to know for any peeps pushing hard to get that 100."

"Hm, interesting analysis. [Of course, love that Dr. Alloway is from Scotland!] I think comparing Facebook to Twitter side by side in terms of memory and intelligence isn't really the full picture. Granted, just looking at Twitter streams and attempting to track threads, conversations, random bits of information could be more challenging to the brain than the "slower" experience of Facebook. But that's why we have tools like Tweetdeck, Twhirl, Hootsuite, PeopleBrowsr etc. to be able to better manage the randomness and build up micro chunks of information about specific people in what I call our "mental rolodex.""

"Lynn - just gotta say, I reeeeeeeeallly love your approach. I too reckon “each to his/her own.” There are no hard and fast rules as to how anyone markets their business… or uses social media. I do think, however, that something has become misconstrued along the way. After reading (and leaving my $0.02 too!) on both Ed and Paul’s posts, I’m a wee bit puzzled by the approach of dumping friends in favor of fans only. Frankly, I wish Facebook would increase the 5000 limit - I heard from Robert Scoble way early this year that Facebook planned to up the limit in 2009. Fingers crossed. Thing is, I do far more *real* networking among my friends by liking/commenting on their activity in my News Feed (conveniently arranged into logical Friend Lists), posting on their wall, observing what they’re up to (e.g. collecting micro-nuggets of data to store in my massive mental rolodex via ambient awareness). With a tiny list of friends, none of this lifestream would be coming to me… well, except via..."

"Hey there awesomely awesome Paul!!! I just left my $0.02 on Ed's post -- somehow methinks someone has gotten the wrong end of the stick. I'll be uber interested to see any stats/metrics/results that show how using a Fan Page only for business on Facebook and not using one's Facebook personal Profile for strategic professional networking with key influencers, clients and prospects is better. I mean, each to his/her own, of course. But, frankly, for me - I engage probably 80% with my friends and their profiles and maybe 20% on fan pages (Did you know you can only be a fan of 500 Pages btw). ;) Keep us posted on the new strategy - I'm eager to know how it goes for ya!! :) Hugs Mari"

"Wow, Ed - I just read your post after reading Lynn Terry's thought-provoking post about the whole Facebook Profile vs. Page debate. http://www.clicknewz.com/2026/ You know I love ya to bits... and I gotta completely disagree with your line of approach. I, too, have been promoting the Facebook Fan Page (blogged about it in March 2008: http://whyfacebook.com/2008......) and yet, there is so much mileage to be gained from utilizing both a personal Profile and a Fan Page(s). I have most of my friends separated into Friend Lists and filter my News Feed this way to keep on top of important matters and nurture many key relationships. That wouldn't be possible on just a Fan Page. I see the personal Profile as a powerful medium for strategic professional networking - to see and be seen, to keep that top of mind awareness with key influencers. I often say to my students and clients that out of 300 million users, you can "only" be friends with 5000 of them and to, therefore,..."
