Interested to see Viper's blog on oEmbed. I like to size my videos for a certain width and am not sure how I'd get that with that single url embed. Is this .com or .org?

It's .org. And it adds fields to specify max width/heights in the Media options.

You can specify a width in the options, or it'll use your theme's width. You can also do a manual generic embed and manually specify height width. I'm sure his post will cover all this.

I don't carry a laptop around everywhere. I slip an iPhone into my pocket. Unless I'm going swimming or getting married, I can pretty much have an iPhone in my pocket. If it's not pocketable, it might as well be a laptop, as far as portability is concerned.

McCain implies that if Obama wins and we withdraw from Iraq, our troops are dishonorable. So much for "support our troops."
I really doubt he means that the troops are dishonoring anyone or anything. If anything he may mean the American people would be dishonoring them. Just my guess.

He says they should "come home in victory and honor, and not in defeat" (meaning not anytime soon). It implies that they come home in dishonor if they come home before he thinks they should. Whether that is their dishonor, or us dishonoring them, I can't say, but neither is the case. Our troops don't come and go of their own volition. They didn't send themselves to Iraq. Their honor doesn't hinge on troop movements.

@Scoble: Yup, sure did. @Hafner: ACORN is required by law to submit all registrations. They flag those that they believe are fraudulent. They then go and fire those canvassers and help prosecute them since they have actually gotten paid for bogus work. Read up.

If this is true, the conspiracy theorist in me (until recently, a very small part) wonders if it could be an "orchestrated crisis" to take our minds off the economy (where the democrats currently hold the high ground) and onto national security (where the republicans *think* they have an upper-hand. Even though I do better under Obama's plan, I still like it less. It's wealth redistribution. He wants to increase the taxes on the rich (who already pay way more than they should) in order to reduce taxes on the people who pay relatively less. McCain's plan makes the income tax less progressive, i.e. more fair. And then there's the issue of spending. Deficit spending = inflation = a tax on all of us big enough to wipe out any reductions here.

I haven't seen Twitter *anywhere* save two news articles. Other than that..on the internet. Every single person I work with I try to convince to use Twitter. They never heard of it. My family? Same thing. Friends that aren't of the geeky persuasion? Same thing. Twitter hasn't quite picked up yet.

None, not one, zero of my non 'tech' friends has heard of (or mentioned to me at any rate), let alone uses Twitter. Of my real-world friends in technology, only two use it and neither of those is active. Facebook is where it is at for better or (more likely), worse. The situation may well be different in the US but that is my experience in the UK and Aus.

@AlexScoble, is it a fact? I credit much of the economic boom of the '90s to Reagan's economic policies. Reagan let the rich keep their money and, no, it didn't do much for everyone else at the time. However, there were no good investment opportunities in the '80s, so the rich horded their cash. Then, when the WWW (and other technology-related industries) took off in the '90s, the rich invested and everyone else benefited.

Good thing that Obama and Biden are totally doing the grassroots thing. The media generally fails to provide substantive coverage of what they're doing, and what they're doing is really resonating with a lot of people. Anecdotally, everyone I know is voting for Obama, and i'm in freakin' San Diego, certainly one of the most conservative cities in the country. People really aren't as stupid as the Republicans and the media want you to believe. When you're getting screwed hard enough, you pay attention.

The thing I find most interesting is that Karl Rove once helped determine policy from the inside the Bush Administration. Now Mr. Rove works in media now. He gets to help to form and shape public opinion now. The WSJ and Fox News are his platforms for doing so. Am I the only one that finds scary? In your example, I don't think it's fair to ask if Walmart would increase employee wages if given a task break. The fair question is, given a tax break, would Walmart invest that money in a way that benefits the many more than if the government had taken it in taxes?

I think Rove may be wrong on two points here. First, Obama hasn't been devoting significant time on attacks on Palin. Second, the contention that Palin is popular may not be true. Her negative poll numbers are higher than her positives. Her appeal may prove to be narrow and short-lived.
