I'm actually not prone to get sick -- so puttin a little Flu in me to teach me to not get Flu is wiggin me out a bit. I like the way these comments are leaning. F the Vaccine.

Nope, no flu ever. Worst I've had was a mild form of scarlet fever when I was 11. After that, it's mostly colds and the occasional URI.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
@Tina: how do you catch Uniform Resource Identifiers? Looks like you've been doing too much Web work this morning. Maybe you meant UTI?
- Tommy Williams
Heh, how do you know your URIs weren't the flu? I think the flu vaccine is only really important if (1) you have a baby (2) you're elderly (3) you have a chronic disease (4) you're a health care worker (5) you live with or spend a lot of time with anyone in the previous categories. Anyone in those categories has a higher risk of dying from the flu, or causing someone to die from the flu.
- Victor Ganata
And more important than the flu vaccine: WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS!
- Victor Ganata
You forgot a category: (6) Catching the flu would impose a serious financial loss. Minimum wage workers living paycheck to paycheck could end up homeless if they catch the flu, either by losing too much money to unpaid days at home, or by losing their job from calling in sick too many days in a row.

Never had the flu either. Wash my hands pretty regularly. Generally stay healthy. My daughter's pediatrician still tells me to get a flu shot every year, when he gives my daughter hers. She's never gotten sick from it.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
People say once you have a flu jab you get the flu but this is normal, after that one time you're fine. Do it Simple. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Update: I didn't take the free shot. Got Victor's advice from some office folks too. In essence, for someone who rarely gets sick, it aint necessary. When I fall into categories (1) and (2) I'll take it.
- Marko Bon
The flu vaccine injection won't give you the flu. It's an inactivated virus. The nasal spray vaccine is a live attenuated virus, though, and shouldn't be used if you're immunosuppressed in any fashion. If you feel sick after getting the flu vaccine, it's probably because your immune system is going aggro.
