A cycle of "work hard to consume more/feel emptier after the want-satisfying consumption does not meet needs/work even harder to afford ever more extravagant and decadent consumption".

But, at risk of sounding like a "selfish capitalist" neoliberalist, I don't see why "want-satisfying consumption" shouldn't meet needs. Isn't our "decadent consumption" all about meeting needs, and more?
