You're both in my thoughts and prayers.

She came out of surgery as well as could be expected and was on a ventilator when we went in to see her. The surgeon says the next 24 hours will decide - if she forms more clots, he's not inclined to go in after them - it would be pointless. If she doesn't, and her brain's swelling goes down and stays down, she could make a decent recovery. Best case would be pretty full cognitive recovery, with weakness on her left side; that's not terribly likely. My father would be happy with some ability to communicate and be herself, even if she were completely paralyzed on the left side.

The real rock and treasure in all of this is my s-i-l, Tracy, who has done so much running around and getting things organized - even before the stroke. it's been clear for several weeks that they were going to need to make some changes in their living situation, and since she was the one who had the time and the sense of organization to actually get things done, she's been plowing ahead and doing stuff. She's really so much better than we all deserve.

You are so fortunate to have someone like that in your family.

So sorry. We had a minor stroke scare in the family last week and that was horrible. I can't imagine what you are going through. Hold onto hope. I am thinking of you.
