Would you like to hear about my undergraduate thesis on the efficiency and equity of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965?

I've met Biangkerok Salapan, nice enough fellow. I'm so glad to hear you hit it well enough that you get engaged! How's Ryan taking it? Poor guy. : )
- Jerry Perez
That is why once I take over the world, I'm strapping people like that to tac nukes :)

So...you live in Scotland, you're engaged, & you've had The Op? Haha, congrats! Also, mimicry is apparently the highest form of flattery. (Or something?)

Give my regards to Biangkerok! How is that old rascal?

After some soul searching, (2 seconds) I have decided I could be gay to be with you now that you are a man Veronica. That being said at least the guy used a nice photo of you. 8^)

I expect you're simply a victim of your own popularity :)
- Olivier Mühring
This is ridiculous. (I've been fake-retweeted by a right-wing nut, but I've never had a fake account. Maybe I'm not popular or annoying enough...) (Me annoying, not you, that is. :)

I reported it on the Facebook web site... have you gotten any follow-up?

Hello how are you are you fain? hay sweet this long history that i find you and i like you if you want sent message in this address niamat_akrami@yahoo.com i wait you my best.
- Naimat ullah akrami
Indeed, I do. I was so jealous when someone posted from the west coast about eating crepes filled with Nutella, whipped cream and strawberries, but there was nowhere I could go for that. I was in Cincinnati yesterday and took advantage of Jungle Jim's proximity to pick up some things I can't find in town, and when I saw crepes (which I will NOT make myself), I nabbed 'em! Now I need the other three ingredients.

Nope. Neither the chocolate nor the hazelnut flavor seems to pop out to me, it just tastes sweet. I'd rather have the fresh ground chocolate peanut butter from Whole Foods.

Keyko, stop rebumping same old posts. Now Nutella makes me throw up. Would you still like something that you see 3/4 times per day?
- Apostocosì (Vulvia)
Hi :) I'll write recipes with nutella a.s.a.p :P
- SanalMutfak (M)
No, it's disgusting. The worst such hazelnut cream produced, sticky, oversweet and at the same time flavorless. There are bunches of much better similar creams around, not necessarly hugely more costly: Novi cream is hugely better and still in the same price range!
- Alice Twain
Alice come on... a little spoon of Nutella could make you less ... :P
- Eta
use translate button keiko :) (I know It doesn't perfect)
- SanalMutfak (M)
@Eta, nutella is disgusting. not hazelnut creams. The point is that nutella has next to no hazelnut in, that's part of what makes it so bad. Again, try some better hazelnut creams, stuff that does not feel like sugary glue in your mouth but rather is silky with a distinct taste of toasted hazelnut. You will taste the difference.
- Alice Twain
In Italian, "Slurp" is an onomatopoeia, i.e. this word means that someone is licking him/her own lips while thinking about the goodness of a food.

But I now realize I didn't understand the argument against the DNA evidence. The discrepancy was in lab facility error rates, which were actually distressingly high (false positives up to 10%) and not the fallability of PCR and RFLP analysis in general, which is where the 1 in 1 trillion numbers come from.
- Victor Ganata
Add to that the known fact that agents of the State tampered with evidence, and the prosecution's ineptness, and it's a lot easier for me to see why it went down the way it did.
- Victor Ganata
yes. as you know, DNA evidence is only as strong as the integrity of the sample. given the history of the LAPD and black angelenos, it was *ENTIRELY* reasonable to believe that they'd taint the sample just to pin it on OJ.
- tiffany
Kimchi is definitely pickled, but would it make sense to construe "I'm going to eat some pickles" as possibly meaning "I'm going to eat some kimchi"?
- Victor Ganata
No, I don't think it would, Victor. I think the word "pickle" by itself (when referencing food) indicates a pickled cucumber. Any other pickled items (eggs, pig's feet, cabbage, etc.) needs the type of food included as a modifier.
- Curdy G
Then you are including everything else that is pickled -- eggs, all kinds of vegetables, fruits, etc. You will just cause confusion. People will always assume it's pickled cucumbers. It is funny that pickled cucumbers are what got called "pickles." Maybe if kimchi would have gotten here first and served with hamburgers and sandwiches, then they would be known as "pickles." Doesn't make sense, but that is how my mind works. :)
- Shevonne
Brits say chips when they talk about French Fries. Aussies say Lollies when talking about any sweet candy. It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad world. One man's pickle is another man's lolly. O_o
- Josh Haley
For Japanese food, pickled stuff is called Tsukemono. It can be a variety of vegetables, like Kimchi.
- Rodfather
I bring this up because I've been finding it irritating that the popular press has been reporting that pickles can cause cancer, when the studies actually cite the level of consumption of pickled vegetables in East Asia as being correlated with esophageal cancer risk. Yeah, I have weirdly specific pet peeves. :)
- Victor Ganata
I consider kimchi, etc, to be in the pickling family, yeah.
- Andrew C (✓)
Yeah, but would you refer to it specifically as "a pickle"?
- Victor Ganata
from iPhone
I would refer to a piece of kimchi as a pickle, yeah. Depends on context, I guess. Probably less likely to say so as a hamburger topping (though I bet they're good there), but I like the idea of a "pickle plate", which is a plate of pickled vegetables.
- Andrew C (✓)

Some of these are pretty sweet. Others are not as good to me (like the "brand")
- Chieze Okoye
I actually like the "brand" one a lot. simple.
- chrisofspades
My main issue with it is that the 'n' doesn't look like an 'n.' It looks like a backwards 'r.' That thing that sticks up on the back of the 'r' (and front of the 'n') is what ruins it, since a major indicator of 'n' is its smoothness in that area. When I first saw that one, I read it as "braid" actually
- Chieze Okoye
For all we know, the one true religion is some alien system of belief born on some planet billions of light years away from here. #reasonswhyimagnostic Good luck getting in to the afterlife if you don't even speak the language.
I don't think any of what I just wrote tramples on anyone's rights to believe what they want to believe.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it: believe what you want and I'll have no issues with you; start trying to change the laws and customs of the land to suit your beliefs, and I will fight you with all I have.
- Moody (Sweet FA 4 Life)
After all, the whole point of agnosticism is that it's not possible for me to know who's right and who's wrong, so why even bother to choose. If the people who think that you have to believe in "the one true god" are right, they are likely to be sorely disappointed that they picked the wrong one. For the rest of us who believe there are many paths to living a just and civil life, I say rock on.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
But you know, people don't want to hear that they don't know what they don't know.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
And this is certainly not pointed at anyone here. I think this community largely has a live and let live policy. This is just a response to the guy who thinks he cracked the code to when "the rapture" will arrive.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
from YouFeed
I'd argue, Moody, that religion often does influence the customs of the land. A great deal of the religion-affiliated culture clash we're experiencing in the US at the moment has less to do with new incoming religions and far, far more to do with changing customs in regards to how we cope with the otherness of religions that are not our own (ironically it's a change towards tolerance that's causing problems). A lot of that custom changing is occurring within religions themselves.
- Soup in a TARDIS
True. And I could have been more clear, because I was thinking specific things and made a general statement based on them. What I should have made clear was that I mean customs as they extend from the laws of the land. For instance, a non-religious (or even neutrally religious) public school system is customary. What I don't want to see is morning prayers being imposed in classrooms....
- Moody (Sweet FA 4 Life)
Also, keep your religion out of my science. It doesn't belong there. It belongs in mythology or social studies. Or, if we must accept that it be brought up, then don't get all pissy when it's dismissed on the first day as unfalsifiable, unscientific, unapproachable, and unreasonable, and therefore not a proper matter for study in a science class.
- Moody (Sweet FA 4 Life)
If you believe it's really "Judgement Day" on May 21 and since you don't need your belongings anymore, you may send your bugatti veyrons/porsche/ferrarris and your precious jewelries to me. Ok, I'm just kidding. May 21 will just be your regular hot spring day.
Actually, Doonesbury's riffing on precisely that this week, with a neighbor giving one of 'em his Mercedes 'cuz he's gonna be raptured on Saturday.

If one day is 1,000 years, wouldn't that mean that 5 months would be somewhere around 150,000 years? ETA - And, why are they using the Gregorian calendar to measure months?

There are several post-Rapture parties planned on Facebook... as well as one Post-Rapture Looting event. I'm sure I'd never be eligible to be Raptured, so I'll just plan on living out the tribulation... until the world ends on Scott's birthday. :-)

This means I don't have to work on Saturday, right?

Haha iphigenie! I'm a Christian, and the Bible says that "no one knows the day or hour," so, if they wanted to be Biblical, they already missed it. http://bible.cc/matthew...
- Nathan Snyder
The people who want to take the Bible to the literal nth degree in everything just have to keep digging deeper holes in order to keep their whole construct alive. It must be a rather tough exercise, and this is hardly the lowest it will sink. Embarrassing but alas one can understand where they are coming from - Jesus is certainly taking his time, longer than people could be led to expect. No wonder some of them are not averse to help the world down the drain with the politics they endorse :(
- Iphigenie
if i were god and i had my sense of humor, i would turn up - after all, so many end of world parties should not go in vain... And all the serious christians who are so sure the date wont be then would be so pissed off with me, would be worth it :) (yeah, well, if i were god i'd very much be a trickster god...)
- Iphigenie

Hey im writing this form may 21 and the judgment day has just started here, really funy ;p ( time zone +2 GMT, Turkey)
- ems
ems: But The Official Word is that it happens at precisely 6 p.m. in whatever your local time zone is, which will be particularly confusing where Daylight Savings Time and Ordinary Time are in close proximity. Oh, and the cycle begins in New Zealand... All of which is equally likely, in my opinion.
- Walt Crawford
Walt, the Line Islands are first, at UTC +14. Tonga is next at UTC +13. New Zealand is UTC +12.
- Rochelle
Rochelle: I'm just sayin' what the "preacher" said...it would start in NZ at 6 p.m. His Bible may not admit the existence of the Line Islands and Tonga, or he may assume that there are no Rapturees there...
- Walt Crawford
Oh, he has so many errors in his story...
