What exactly makes it the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck? Quint gets that question a lot. "Every day, at least a couple of times," Quint says. "And every time, I say, 'I make it gay.' "

Apple's (AAPL) iPod business, measured by unit shipments, shrank last quarter on a year-over-year basis for the first time ever. Apple shipped 10.2 million iPods last quarter, down 7% year-over-year. But that's precisely why Apple has invested in the iPhone. On the company's earnings call, executives said they expected its "traditional MP3" business -- the iPod classic, nano, and shuffle -- to continue its decline, and the iPhone and iPod touch to drive growth among Apple's "pocket products." Indeed, iPod touch sales grew more than 130% year-over-year last quarter, Apple said, and iPhone shipments grew more than 600% to 5.2 million units in the June quarter.

"If we look at the inflation-adjusted S&P Composite, the last three oscillations above and below a regression trend line have each been around 17-18 years. Prior cycles haven't been quite so symmetrical."

Depends what you're using it for. If you're writing serious code, BBEdit is good though others have other favorites. If you're doing primarily web development and a medium amount of real coding (Python/PHP/Perl/etc) then I really like Coda.
- Kevin Fox
I <3 BBEdit. There's a full-featured 30 day trial if you'd like to give it a spin, as well as a free (more stripped down) cousin, TextWrangler.

Sitting in cafes could become the next inroads to corporate espionage, if you know the right cafes. ;-)

I seem to be in the know. ;-) However I should add that the "user research" is generally worthless and a waste of everyone's time. The UX in me wants to school them on methodology, but the bastard in me just wants to finish whatever I'm working on.

From the dawn of metal office equipment before it had really gained a foothold into the domination of wood. Manufacturer's really pushed the fireproof aspect of it's product. Nice brass hardware.

mage optimization is an art that not many people master. There are many good image editing tools that allow us to get the best visual result for a certain file size but "under the hood" a lot more optimization can be done. Smushit.com is a service that goes beyond the limitations of Photoshop, Fireworks & Co. It uses image format specific non-lossy image optimization tools to squeeze the last bytes out of your images - without changing their look or visual quality. You'll get a report of how many bytes you can save by optimizing your images and all the changed images as a single zip for download.

The bits in the widget all have classes that can be overridden, but I don't think there's anything more than that yet. I'm looking at making it a lot more approachable and customizable. $random(foo) is a great example of a site that integrates it well: http://randomfoo.net/

Thanks Kevin. Leonard's site will give me a good starting point (hopefully) ;-)
