Just making sure that wasn't some rip on gays.

rest assured, that sort of thing will never come out of me. thanks for making that assumption about me, tho.

That was my 2nd DVD ever purchased back in '97. . . if I had blue ray, I would at least rent it just to see what the quality is like (especially. . . .the big board!!).

Serif versus sans-serif for viewing on the web. A review of the available research which concludes that there is probably little difference but that more methodologically sound research might come down on one side or the other

It is very good - I especially like the acoustic bonus tracks at the end (if you don't have them they're worth getting).

I actually bought the CD (stupidly expensive here in AU) but think they might be missing. Need to check I have the lot at some point. I did a side-by-side last night though and reckon Fever to Tell still tips it :). This album is very Ladytron (esp. with the female vocals).

Having lived in a country in which the socialist party has ruled off and on for the past thirty years, I can attest that I’ve never been sent to a re-education camp. When I’m sick, I go to a doctor for free. Four weeks of vacation is standard. The streets aren’t full of desperately ill homeless people. Mass transit is fantastic. Ah the power of fettering. An amazing thing to fetter, it turns otherwise horrid things into vaguely acceptable things ;)

America needs to find the happy medium between the two extremes. But most people are set in their ways. It will be a hard sell to convince people to pay more taxes or to give up their capitalistic trappings.

A friend's house has this welcome matt. I thought it would be something fun to share with all my new friendfeed friends that have joined over the past week.

An interesting picture but actually, the comments make this. Fascinating snippits of info regarding the history of X-Ray use including the terrifying way doctors used X-Rays until the '60s.

I probably shouldn't mention the fact that in California the ice cream man never stops coming around ...
- Laura Norvig
Out of our 4 regular ice cream trucks, only 1 takes the winter off. This doesn't even include the 3 regular ice cream guys who push carts. Rain or shine, they come around. I'd imagine that even in snow, they'd still show up.

SD is like that, though for me, it's nice for a day trip, but I wouldn't want to live there.
- Anika
It does have some practicality and cost issues, but it's still amazing. Can't I get something with public transit, walking paths, etc. without the high costs and earthquakes/fires/mudslides?
- Kamilah Gill
Well, the earthquakes, fire and mudslides rarely hit the most lived in areas of SD. My beef is the people. If they weren't there & it got hotter, I'd totally move there. LOL
- Anika
Hehe, no ice cream man here yet, he's late! :-(

Love this collection. Ironically I have no interest in the Olympics, never watch it.

Helsinki 1952 and California 1960. Lovely. Seemingly the world of design fell in the toilet after 1988 though as they're universally horrid from that point on.

Scans of the brilliant 1980s pamphlet 'Leeds and THE BOMB' produced by Leeds City Council to terrify, fascinate (and sow a love of diagrams) their populace. Describes in detail and with strangely lovely diagrams, what effect a one megaton bomb would likely have on the city of Leeds in Yorkshire, England.
