"At first glance, I thought the headline was "Mayor Lee Could Bench Press The Sheriff, If He Felt Like It," which was a pretty exciting mental image."

"I'm not a stripper myself, but I work with them from time to time (I'm a nightlife photographer) and I have to say that dancers and strippers are no more damaged than my clients in corporate environments. Maybe a bit less, because their job is generally pretty fun and not too stressful. Of course, my experience has tended to be in more commercially successful settings (the type that can afford to hire a photographer), so I dunno if low-paid entertainers are more damaged. I'd suspect that their mental health is comparable to, I dunno, people working in fast food or assembling iPhones."

"I don't mean the tunnel -- I mean that whole stretch from church/market to church/duboce. The occasional drunk tunnel-intruder is bad enough (how many people are late to work, and how much does it cost every time someone does this?) but that intersection has plenty of other problems. The cars delay transit, make it hard to walk and bike, and generally make things unpleasant. I guess you could say that private autos can't survive without access to that street, but people said the same thing about that alley behind Safeway before it went bike/ped-only."
