Yesterday trains were running here again, so I was able to make a short journey to Haarlem, to visit 2 museums there. So I could enter a nearly empty Frans Halsmuseum and enjoy a small exhibition on Judith Leyster, the 1st woman to become a master painter, in honour of her 400th birthday. Later to be shown in Washington, Nat. Gallery of Art.
Not to be too banal, but I'm still waiting for my flying cars and a real answer to traffic jams, so I'm not quite sure we're as far down the path as we might think.

We have flying cars. They operate on the thorofares of the Network. Traffic is a good thing in the economics of abundance.
- Cliff Gerrish
I don't want flying cars, because then my daughter will want one and eventually she'll get it
- Steve Gillmor
LOL, Steve...my daughter will want one, too, but she'll have to fight ME for the keys.

In re-reading your post, Cliff, this article popped into focus for me...I might've been talking about flying cars but what I was really talking about was music made by humans as opposed to computers. http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment...

I lost interest in Kevin Smith long ago but I feel for him that they forced him to change the name of his movie. The original name, A Couple of Dicks, was just instantly funny.

this pretty much looks like a fake movie trailer they'd show on 30 rock.

I'm not wild about Bruce Willis but Tracy Morgan is ok.

"Many new ideas bubbling up in restaurant kitchens aren't of much use to a home cook without a machine shop and acres of counter space. But some are simple and flexible enough that they just may trickle down to everyone else. In the case of an easy technique called gelatin filtration, that would be a very slow trickle."

"Mr. Iuzzini also uses the technique to make an even more surprising dish for his chocolate course. He makes separate "stocks" of dark and white chocolate by cooking them in water, then clarifies them into fat-free liquids, one brown and one colorless. He then adds sugars and xanthan gum, a thickener, to give the two liquids different densities and a slight cohesiveness. This allows him to build a two-story drink, a layer of cold white chocolate consommé riding on a base of hot dark chocolate consommé."

New Rule: Whenever a news agency uses the phrase 'and has links to Al-Qaeda', they have to actually detail those links... 1) Sometimes I feel being able to spell Al-Qaeda without googling it is enough to make that link and 2) It puts Al-Qaeda on waaaay to much of a pedestal.
I have access to those as well... but I just watched the news about the guy who broke into the Danish cartoonist' house and they said 'and has links to Al-Quaeda' like it was a badge of legitamacy, like it wouldn't be so 'newsy' without that link.
- Johnny Worthington
It's a catch-all term: replace "al Qaeda" with "the boogeyman" and it has exactly the same legitimacy.
- Mark H
I take it you enjoy the commercial channels about as much as I do? :-)
- Kate Foy
They said that about the Danish thing?? My word. Are you watching Fox news Johnny??
- Roberto Bonini
Excuse me for picking on an Australian, Johnny, but its still a Murdoch outlet.
- Roberto Bonini
Actually, Sky News Australia is fairly decent. It sits on the channel 3 away from Fox News and the difference is startling. Australians has a fairly good bullshit meter and
