just been reading an interesting post on Collaborative Understandings about CCK09. One of the issues: should we use the CCK infrastructure on a more permanent basis? I think we should, but the course itself is an important rallying point for the CCK community. http://bnleez.blogspot.com/2009...

The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...
The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby (ISBN 0-553-38058-3) is the title of Tom Wolfe's first collected book of essays, published in 1965. The book is named for one of the stories in the collection that was originally published in Esquire magazine in 1963 under the title "There Goes (Varoom! Varoom!) That Kandy-Kolored (Thphhhhhh!) Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby (Rahghhh!) Around the Bend (Brummmmmmmmmmmmmmm)..." Wolfe's essay for Esquire and this, his first book, are frequently heralded as early examples of New Journalism. - Jim Groom

New Learners? New Educators? New Skills? - Emerging Technologies for Learning - http://ltc.umanitoba.ca/wikis...
New literacies (based on abundance of information and the significant changes brought about technology) are needed. Rather than conceiving literacy as a singular concept, a multi-literacy view is warranted.[11] Use of aggregators, reading and visualizing data, mashing up various types of information, and recognizing new patterns in existing information are key skills. - Howard Rheingold
This needs to be taught beginning in elementary school. My son, who'll be going into 7th grade next year, has only ever had one teacher who was at all computer literate. The website for the middle school he's attending next year looks like it was made in 1996 by a second grader. We still teaching our children how to be obedient factory workers. Shameful. - iTad from fftogo
