I am in the process of writing another blog post surrounding the above 90 sec. video. It has been deemed by 'Commercial Watchdogs' in the UK as being 'too shocking' to show on TV, but they have allowed it to be shown in UK Cinemas over the last few months. If you can spare 90 secs., I would be most grateful if you could do so and better still, leave a comment here with your thoughts. Thank you.

it's quite heavy. i was actually quite disturbed (then again i don't handle violence well). as to showing it in the cinema.. it's probably even more disturbing on a big screen, so i don't understand why that was allowed. tv after 10pm (or only during shows that are generally not watched by children) would have made more sense.

Christ, that was horrible! I think the connection with MND is pretty tenuous, and the brief vo at the end doesn't really bring it together. I understand the desire to shock audiences but this doesn't work for me. I'm not left thinking "MND is terrible", just "I wish I hadn't seen that".

Why make her half naked? Other than that, I find it does what it's supposed to do, at least for me.
- Björn Brembs
Yeah, now that Bjoern points it out, it might have worked better without the clothes-ripping-off, which I assume is supposed to emphasize vulnerability but just seems odd.

I was going to comment on her being stripped down too, but didn't want to seem like a feminazi.. On 2nd thoughts: if the audience is shocked too much, they might turn away in disgust rather than feel empathic/sorry and donate.

that horrible - at least when there's violence like that in a movie you have some context. No, I don't think that belongs on tv. The clothes ripping off and her hands behind her back make it look like she is going to be or has been raped - which MND doesn't do. There's definitely a sexual tone to that.

Artistically, the makers may have intended to allude to the feelings of helplessness and of being overpowered during a rape to liken it to MND?
- Björn Brembs
possibly. but rape is such a touchy subject somehow. the beginning made me think of a car crash (when she's thrown against a wall etc) - maybe that would have been a slightly less emotionally charged option.

Thank you all for the feedback thus far. I'll need to re-watch the "making of" again to remind myself as to the thoughts of the filmakers on the issues raised here. I do however recall that some suggestions were made just after it was released for them to re-cut it.
