David, for me it would mostly be about having things like the tabs, show best of in big iPhone style category links that are easier to tap. and then possibly mitigating the need to send pics via mail2ff, and just have it direct through the app and the iphone's camera roll
- Robert Seidman
oooh, just loaded twitterific up, nice eye candy.
- David Vasileff
I realize this is not nearly as exciting, but anyone know of a good FriendFeed application for BlackBerry?. . .
- DaveFriesen
as an aside, I can't help but wonder if the Facebook iPhone app will win back some of the digerati. Dave F, have you tried fftogo.com? it's not blackberry specific, but it is a mobile app.
- Robert Seidman
Robert, have tried fftogo. Nice, but spoiled by clean BB app's like Gmail, Viigo, etc.
- DaveFriesen
For FriendFeed iPhone app - how about some geo action (Brightkite)? Oh, and how about some grouping functionality (TweetDeck style)? Not too crazy, just some features that fit and exploit the iPhone's capabilities...
- Bryan Landers
Definitely agree with this, I am surprised there isn't one!!!
- Joe Dawson
I'd rather have a FriendFeed N95 app than an *P**ne thingy
- Ivan Pope
from twhirl
There's BuddyFeed but I don't like the interface and at times fails with a slow connection. Nambu has a nice interface and supports multiple social networks but its FF integration isn't complete.
- Rodfather
I don't love BuddyFeed, on the other hand, I seem to always be in it instead of on the ff.com/iphone, so that must mean something, too. Probably just convenient - it does boot up quick.
- felix
Hey this is intersting... Reshare feature...ok got it now! thx!
- Susan Beebe
It's not that McCain's too old, but he IS old, and if he were to pass, would you trust Palin as president? No one is questioning Biden's ability to take over should Obama die, which I am kind of curious about.

My first computer was a Commodore 64. I paid $1K for it, borrowed against my first year teacher salary. I was a computer teacher in K-8 school.
- Charlene Kingston
That was my third commuter, but the one I miss the most was my amiga, so sad!
- Michael Fidler
from twhirl
So, apperently the Amiga might be coming back. I watched some of the other videos associated with this one , and their was a couple of commercials for it. Does anybody know anything about this?
- Michael Fidler

i bought a 2 inch thick book with code to type in. For the SID player editor. Took forever but was worth it. Loved SID music on quantum link.
- Rodfather
OK, now I have to get mine out of the basement and fire it up... I think I still have my Jumpman cartridge... loved that game. Wonder if it still works?
- Kevin C. Tofel
the amiga is in eternal "return" mode, only that it cant find any hardware to run on...
- turn.self.off

I skipped the 64 and went straight from Vic 20 to Amiga. (via an Amstrad all-in-one)
- Steve 'Chippy' Paine
I got an Amiga 3000 collecting dust in the closet right behind me, I thin warek I still have all my software. I could of sold it, but it has sentimental value. I'm serious.
- Michael Fidler
from twhirl
I started on a DEC PDP-10 at my High School, but my first "PC" was a TRS-80 Color Computer. I went from there to the Amiga 1000 (I still have one of those) and the off to various PC compatibles.
- Soulhuntre

I had both a Commodore 64 and an IBM PC. I could do more with the PC. In all honesty I think the Apple IIs were the best machines. I used them in school and they were great
- NoahDavidSimon
Heh -- another PDP-10 user ( I am older -- I was a user in my first job) - have you seen this site http://www.pdpplanet.com/ ? -- over the web access to PDP-10 courtesy Paul Allen
- Brian Sullivan
My love for the C-64 is almost outshadowed by how lame this commercial was... heh
- Michael W. May
Coleco ADAM, baby! Although the first computer I ever USED was a TI99-4A
- Nine
oh I wanted an ADAM so bad. how was it? I had a Colegovision
- NoahDavidSimon
I used that computer for years and years, man. I loved it. It was really easy to rebuild, too. Swapped the printer-based power supply for a different sort of external power source, added tape drives and disk drives and a 80-column card... loved it.
- Nine
awesome. I wanted it badly. it did look good
- NoahDavidSimon
I got the C64 a few years after getting a Vic-20. Ah, memories!
- Mike Reynolds
I dislike taxes as much as everyone else, but I always pay my bills. How else can we as a country pay our bills without the taxes? Debts always come due and the responsible thing to do is to suck it up and pay 'em.
- Kevin C. Tofel
Correction - in Canada ordinary citizens can go bankrupt if they develop health problems - I know people who have. There is NO single tier health care system in Canada. Tell me that the next time you have to pay out of pocket for prescription medication, or hand over your VISA at the emergency or they won't admit you because the ambulance ride costs money...or you have to go to Buffalo for an MRI and pay $$$...sorry to vent but I keep seeing these misconceptions and I'm getting a little tired of it.
- Kevin Cearns
I don't particularly hold to any party vision. And I'm not promoting a version of Canada. I'm merely pointing out fact. It is one thing to aspire to a particular reality, another entirely to assume that reality already exists.
- Kevin Cearns
You as well....Thanks for the conversation.
- Kevin Cearns
My son watched this earlier in the week and I'm glad he did. It got him to dust off the LEGO Mindstorm set we bought him. It's an awesome product.
- Kevin C. Tofel
Seems like ping.fm (or a similar servce) should support this soon. - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
The only problem with this is for the folks on FF, it can produce a disjointed conversation. Take for instance, your fcuk Facebook post: the FF version got 40 FF comments and 36 likes. The Twitter version on FF got 4 likes and 4 FF comments. It would be nice if FF could federate them into one meta-post.
- James Williams
@Dave do you have a ping.fm account?
- rob friedman
The most impressive thing is selective disobedience: if a car is coming and the blind person says "go" the dog will not follow the command until the car has passed. So smart, dogs are.
- Dan Kaplan
My RogersBlackberry is humming along fine too ;-)
- AJ Batac :)
My updated iPhone (old school) is humming along just fine (I updated it yesterday and had no problems).
- Jennifer Dittrich
Right...but its Rogers...and its Blackberry. See?
- The Fat Oracle
hey steve if your phone is down, i can let you borrow my samsung ace - it works great, super fast speeds, and an awesome opera mobile browser :)

Hang out for a while. It finally comes on. I was down for 3 hours trying to update this AM, though

Already had that happening before, but yes, it's getting worse. I've become adept at whipping out a charger when I'm near power

excuses excuses - steve got a large "jobs juice" this morning

I usually describe my iPod Touch as a pocket computer that can also play media. The iPhone is a pocket computer that can also be used as a phone.
- Michael Connick
@rbonini, I have had to do a hard reboot at least once every other day. It sometimes takes me a minute to even get it to respond to a power button hold, and then longer because I can't move the slider.
- Robyn Miller
Battery life is the major hurdle the mobile phones need to conquer.
- Muthu Ramadoss
Do we need Intel to come in to picture for the processor at least with better performance and less power consumption. I think the processor has to scale up before these phones can smoothly support all the pc functions
- Umesh Kakkad
I predict the next iPhone will have a multicore processor
- Alan Cheslow
I been hearing the battery story for 5 years now! iPhone is nothing new, it is a PDA with Windows CE! Solve the battery problem and stop lying how many hour it will hold charge! You lucky if you can finish a DVD on a clean charge?
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
I cannot use the Camera or go into Photo album right now on iPhone - both crash every time. Starting a restore...
- Sean Alexander
The current iPhone has multiple processors. It has 3 ARM chips in it. 3G may have the ARM multi-core chips. Not sure. The power draw isn't the processor, it is the network, screen and GPS. This is why it lasts longer when that stuff is off.
- Kevin Goldsmith
from twhirl
Yes, just do not watch movies, no surfing the net, and no GPS! Is this like 8 years ago? Voice and SMS?
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
I wouldn't put up with that - #1 priority is reliability - it's a phone first. What happens in an emergency and it's frozen?
- David Andrzejewski
David: all my phones have crashed at some point or another. It's one reason why I carry three phones.
- Robert Scoble
I don't use phones. I like that. the joys of being unemployed is I don't want it.
- NoahDavidSimon
how about microcomputer rice cooker? can it crash while cooking?
- Pajama Domain

agree with Robert Scoble - my n95 crashes all the time, including while having phone conversation!

@Jay you can download them but there's no firmware yet.
- Steve Rubel
Federico: I can see it. But I don't have an iPod Touch or an Iphone, alas!
- zio bonino

- JA Castillo

Zio bonino: WTF? it keeps me saying the store is unavailable...
- Federico [Kurai]

@Federico hai aggiornato iTunes alla 7.7? Entra nello store e cerca "App"
- Stefano Mainardi
now it's working. Ebook reader only with ebooks sold through the store? Crazy.
- Federico [Kurai]
from twhirl
Current eReader titles / libraries will work with the eReader app. I have five years worth of titles that I've used on Windows / Windows Mobile. They will ALL work with the iPhone app. ;)
- Kevin C. Tofel
I am stoked to find eReader in there. May speed up my iPhone purchase. :)
- James Kendrick
really? How you upload them? Does it read even pdf books?
- Federico [Kurai]
from twhirl
@Frederico: your library is stored on the Fictionwise server at all times, so you can just download titles you've already purchased. The app will likely have the eReader store so you can browse, buy and DL new titles. That's how it works on WinMo, so I suspect it should generally be the same.
- Kevin C. Tofel
@John, I suspect the eReader app will let you download from your library on the Fictionwise server directly. You can do that on WinMo. I just got confirmation that we have a call with the owner of Fictionwise today so I'll have more info to share. :)
- Kevin C. Tofel
@JA Castillo I saw a Twit that said software updater may not recognize the need for the new version if you're running a beta of iTunes.
- RyanEs
@RyanEs - no beta...all the more confusing if what you say is true.
- JA Castillo
Is the App Store only visible to those with iPhones or a Touch? I have updated to 7.7 and there is no link to the app store that I can see.
- JA Castillo
From oobject: "Pocket sundials can be over 1000 years old, arguably making them the world’s first watches - and with no moving parts to break. Typically they were carried by shepherds, where there are a variety of designs, from the French Pillar Sundial to the Tibetan Time Stick."

you'd think they would have let us have 2.0 for all of TWO full days just for being good sports who bought the frakin' phone at $599, but NOoOooooooo
- Robert Seidman
It sure would be nice if they did release the App store early.
