RSS is no more dead than TCP/IP or SMTP or any other transport protocol we no longer see. How relevant it is in the real time world vs., say, XMPP is another question...

I also agree with Ian...as I said on the original thread on this issue, RSS is only dead in the sense that it is ubiquitous and unlikely to be further developed. However, some transport protocols should be killed rather than be dead in that fashion. RSS is fine as far as it goes.
