Ellen is on Twitter's suggested follower list (which skews the stats a LOT), but shows the changing face of Twitter. TechCrunch is also on the list but only has 300K followers.

Mike: I'm not going anywhere, although you've already seen I've moved much of my life over to friendfeed, which is a far better service and run far more professionally. I'm still seeing very frequent fail whales and have ever since Twitter started.

This tells you Twitter definitely has hit mainstream. FriendFeed still hasn't hit it yet.

imabonehead: yup, agreed. But friendfeed will go mainstream over next 18 months, too. I'm willing to bet on that.

Twitter has some serious issues. The more popular they have become, the slower the site loads for me. I've NEVER had a problem with FF. I never had a problem with MySpace or Facebook. Twitter has a problem, and they've done nothing that I can see to remedy this issue. They're changing cosmetic things like replies into mentions but not fixing the problems.

slayerboy: we've been complaining about their poor architecture on Twitter ever since the very beginning. it's gotten better (it used to be worse, about a year ago things used to crash and be down all the time). It hasn't stopped their growth or popularity, though, so Evan knows he doesn't need to fix it and build a perfect service, just one that stays up "enough."

Robert: yeah I've been with Twitter for probably the better part of a year and I remember when it was constantly crashing, but this is different. I don't know if it's firefox or twitter, but the pages don't load completely when twitter is running slow, it never used to do that. And twitter runs slow for me ALL the time now it seems.
