Even if they don't shut it down, it'll still suck that no new members will ever join. The site and it's community will just slowly disintegrate.

It's been almost 24 hours. By now, someone could have pounded out a 3-paragraph blog post addressing the concerns of current Friendfeed users. But they haven't, which speaks volumes.
