We'll be in Austin for either Thanksgiving on Christmas this year. I forget which. If you guys would rather wait until one of those holidays, I'll work with that.
- ha3rvey (doink doink)
Either way is fine with me. I'm only 20 mins from Austin, so I'm good for whenever.

What is GeekUp? GeekUp is a community of web designers, web developers, and other tech-minded folk from the UK. It's a grassroots knowledge sharing and networking social for folks involved or interested in the web, design and technology industry. Monthly events take place in Chester, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Preston and Sheffield too. GeekUp East Coast borrows heavily from the original GeekUp concept, but is proving a great way to meet Creative people from the Eastern side of the country too. Originally created so that the Creative Types, Designers, Developers and Generally Tech-y folks on the East side of the country had somewhere to get together without braving the Pennines, we're a friendly lot and welcome new faces (don't worry, you don't have to know 3 programming languages & have published books or iPhone apps - although some of us have!) Who can attend GeekUp? While the focus for GeekUp is predominately web related anybody involved in the media / technology / design /...

Meetdraw was formed in late 2008 out of a love for all things digital and design by a group of plucky (young!?) web designers, usability experts, marketing guru's and a tramp, as a way of getting together and talking and sharing about their passion for the subject. Set in the mighty Bournemouth the aim was to encourage people out from the glare of their Macbooks and start shouting about in person, what they normally only bang on about on Twitter. Meetdraw vol 1 & 2 were both HUGE successes, more than 120 people rocked up to swap business cards, talk tech and, of course, guzzle some shandies.... So not wanting to quit a good thing, we decided to have another crack, and like any good event, we decided to make it bigger and more inventive. It's free, it's a great atmosphere and there's beer, what more d'you want? (we lied about the tramp, so feel free to bring your own)
Computer maker Dell has earned a reputation in recent years of being one of the organizations most engaged online with customers, influencers, and anyone who has an interest in Dell and what they do. Not only that, Dell say they actually make money as a direct result of their online engagement activities, notably in reporting multi-million-dollar revenue attributable to Dell's outlet business on Twitter (@Delloutlet). We'll hear about Dell's strategic engagement activities online, the people at Dell online, Dell's use of social media such as blogs and Twitter, making money with Twitter, experimenting with new ways to engage online with employees, and much more. Presenters: Richard Binhammer is a senior manager in corporate communications at Dell's headquarters in Round Rock, Texas, USA. His career has developed from provincial and federal politics in Canada and (mostly) successful election campaigns, as well as lobbying, to corporate communications in the USA, with a little art,...

I'm going to try - have in-laws in town, just leaving in a few. Sounds very good though - haven't done any terrorizing or been semi-drunk in quite a while :)

Wait! How did I miss this??!?!?!?!? I'm gonna be working in New Braunfels Tuesday and Wednesday. I should join the Meetups room. If I had known about this I would have flown down today instead of tomorrow. Shoot.

from IM
We can't because it's during the week, and Joel has to be in Killeen for work :( And we are leaving for West Virginia on the 15th so we couldn't be there on the 14th.
- Michelle Martinez
Any chance you can make it to Austin? I'll be there that week.
- Laura B coughin'
Laura, if I had my own car I totally would. But unfortunately I'm flying in and staying at lodging. :( I would love to though. I have been to Austin and would LOVE to go back. In fact, one of my tattoos is from there. :)
- David Cook
I just saw this. I'm going to be in New Braunfels through the 13th.

Since its the eve of our country's birthday, lets celebrate by eating tau huay and ice cream. Yes. I know its a weird combination. So you have been warned! Come with a strong stomach and bring tissue :) But if you don't like tau huay or ice cream, just come down and chit chat with us. I would like to suggest we all wear red. Its fine if u don't like red :)
