"You don’t own an external flash. You can’t afford one anytime soon. Are you held back in your photographic technique and unable to take dynamic studio style portraits?"

"“It’s very hard with a still photograph to capture the action of a concert. You try to see something in the face, the body, the lighting…Once I see a good shot in the viewfinder, it’s gone. The music gets inside of me, it’s in my brain, I’m close enough to the stage so that the vibration from the speakers is making my skin tingle, and I’m filling the viewfinder with the musician. I just always feel high.”"

"We’ve been getting a lot of clues about upcoming products lately from Nikon, partly because they underestimated demand on a number of items, partly because Nikon has let things leak. So I thought it worthwhile to update my 2009 predictions for Nikon."

"They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch. Maybe. However, in photography of the digital kind, there’s an equivalent function that, used properly, can be of enormous help in capturing subjects with degrees of sharpness that may surprise the less informed photographer."

"Digital photography is all the rage these days, so it's no surprise that Kodachrome film and its complicated processing have finally been laid to rest. But in 1935, Kodachrome was a revolution in color photography."

from a photographer, I heard that the Kodachrome format actually had it's peak something like 15-20 years ago, after which much better films were released. I think Fujifilm released a chrome-film which was superior and is still being sold (at least online).

"Fan death is a South Korean urban legend which states that an electric fan, if left running overnight in a closed room, can cause the death of those inside (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia). Fans manufactured and sold in Korea are equipped with a timer switch that turns them off after a set number of minutes, which users are frequently urged to set when going to sleep with a fan on.[1]"

"The Nikkor AF-S 50 is one of the more recent additions to the Nikon lens line up, adding a modern sonic wave drive to what's considered one of the "bread and butter" lenses of any system: the normal prime lens. These lenses have a high reputation among photographers, because they usually offer very high quality at an affordable price."

"It seems that past rumors of the Nikon D4000 may be a bit off (by about 1000). That is, if Lenstip’s tips are to believed. They are showing off some images that purport to be a Nikon D3000, which would presumably fall in Nikon’s lineup under the Nikon D5000."

Why would they release this when they only just released the D5000?
- Cecily
They released the D50 shortly after the D70 too, Cecily. Maybe it's the economy as it'll probably be cheaper; maybe it's the fact that the D5000 may have too many enhanced features that cause users to be confused - this would be for an even more amateur crowd.

"McBroom, a photographer, snapped the image that made Farrah Fawcett an icon. He tells TIME how an innocuous photo shoot — in which Fawcett posed at her Hollywood home in a red swimsuit — resulted in the 1976 poster that wound up plastered on millions of bedroom walls."

"Video capability in DSLRs represents nothing short of a revolution. A new generation of photographers will embrace what they have to offer and use them to create new forms of art and commerce. In a few years we'll likely think that a still camera that can't also shoot video, or a video camera that can't also shoot stills is strangely underfeatured."
