"@ChristinasWorld Great! I'm glad you liked it. I've been thinking about that too. How do we leverage attention/resources/connectivity to people/communities/causes in need? Perhaps people that work outside (or alongside?) organizations, using their nimbleness and connectivity to 'channel in' *offline* activity into online groups/stakeholders that can 'channel back' resources - like a cycle. I think a lot of the time, orgs/businesses move too slowly (though they usually have great pull/influence). Have you seen: http://www.socialactions.com/social-...... ?"

"Hi Valdis, thank you for the PDF! I'd actually come across your site last year and bookmarked it as it had some really, really great stuff on networks. You've got some great resources on your case studies page: http://orgnet.com/cases.html I really like your two step process: - *know the net* -- see the map of how things really work - *knit the net* -- adjust the network for improvements I'm sure you're connected to Beth Kanter?"

"Hey Tash, thanks so much for rockin' that connection to Saatchi & Saatchi. The new colors look great. if ever you wanna delve more into some intermediate skills with CSS, I'd recommend using the Firefox Web Developer add on if you haven't already. I wrote about it here: http://www.memeshift.com/2009...... It's really brilliant as it allows you to 'live edit' the CSS of your pages - you can see changes in the page as you adjust the CSS... rockit!"

"Mark, This is a great, great post. I can relate to so much of this stuff you write about here. I came here via my friend (Edward Harran) who wrote a great piece over on his Posterous. I think a challenge men have as being men is this notion of 'success' - having to excel in everything they do, even if it's at the expense of their own well-being (women are supposed to take care of us, right?</end sarcasm>) - work, finding a partner, money, self-image... Here's my contribution: http://www.memeshift.com/2008...... thank you for writing such a meaningful post."

"Hi Arthur, great question. I'd say: "Lots of us." I've been bookmarking examples and conversations around the idea to help digitally connect the folks involved with great initiatives like this. You can browse more here: http://delicious.com/tag... Frank Odasz of Lone Eagles Consulting has been a longtime advocate of tying economic development to rural broadband deployment and has loads of resources on his site: http://lone-eagles.com/ Bit tricky to wade through, but the stuff on there is very, very rich."

The CMFE was founded to strengthen the participation of the “Third Media Sector” in European discussion and decision-making processes at a moment when freedom of expression and free access to information are increasingly endangered by the consequences of concentration in the media field.

"Hey thank you Cherita! A lot of those are inspired by people I meet on and offline. The 'Community is your operating system' entry caught on for a little bit and was retweeted and shared quite a bit after the really cool N-TEN Conference in San Francisco in April. Thanks for the link!"

Question: What do you think the crossroads of nonprofit, web tech, and social media be three years from now? We live so in the moment. I am writing a goal essay for a masters degree in web tech and media arts program that will take three years. But I want to explore. #nptech#nonprofit
Above is an artistic statement of social media and tech. It reflects how we want to define ourselves, so it is not too different than the fadish nature of fashion. This may not be a bad thing. Truly, how the hell are we to know what will happen three years from now?

I don't know that we can say. The Institute for the Future's got it's eye on some future forecasts that are absolutely inspiring to read. I myself, have got my eye toward co-working (though I think it may evolve into something totally different in a few years) and 'fablabs' - which are not quite in their prime yet, but *very* exciting to track. Here are some links:...

Thank you for the links- great resources! Just downloaded many papers from the Institute of the Future. It was that type of intense scholarship that I needed. On the 'fablabs,' I just watched a video on a similar idea the other day- a robot has been created and new designs are sent digitally. Yes, brilliant for digital cooperation. Products can be created and shipping is obsolete. Thank you.
