Interesting post, but I don't agree as one becomes mass media you lose the idea of who your audience is. Your ability to monetize your work is based on how well you can identify and target your audience: mass media is especially good at it. I think as you grow larger it becomes more crystalized; when you first start out, you're not sure who's going to be listening. - Mark Trapp
