Now that I don't have to study I can get excited about interesting research again. Just in time for the latest Annual Review of Psychology: http://arjournals.annualreviews.org/cookiea....
"[W]hen Pardo and his colleagues published their paper in the Annals of Neurology in 2005, they added an online primer that clearly explained their findings in layman's terms and sternly warned doctors not to use them to develop treatments. "We were concerned that the study would raise a lot of controversy and be misused," Pardo said. "We were right." Over and over, doctors in the autism recovery movement have used the paper to justify experimental treatments aimed at reducing neuroinflammation."

@tashbrad Sugar, and pretty much any food that tastes good... Not that I should be giving you more ammo :p
"There are certain rules of conduct on which most ethical people would agree. It’s not nice to date the boss’s daughter just to get ahead in the company. Or marry her son. And no parent would approve of a child befriending another child just because he happens to own an Xbox 360 Elite. That would be like an adult warming up to a colleague simply because he happens to have season tickets for the New Orleans Saints. All of these ethical lapses fall under the general category of using people, which we’re taught early on not to do. People are not instruments or tools to be wielded for our own purposes, pawns to help us achieve our personal goals. Yet we do use people anyway, often in more subtle ways than these. Why is that?"

'The four declarative statements below are based on a broad review of the multidisciplinary literature and are published along with associated “substantiating research studies” deemed adequate to support them. Taken together, they affirm the natural underpinnings of human morality. Listed below the statements are members of the review panel of research scientists and ethicists involved in the authentication process.'

Wow, this guy is MAD! I like his style, even though he's somewhat lacking in content :) (I guess this must be the respectful tone I keep hearing about,)
