Bill, this was very good information. Thank you. It aligns perfectly with what Ed_Dale is teaching. Excellent tips were provided that I have noted.

Thanks to Mindy, Nez, Barb et al who led me to watch Joss Whedon's online project Dr Horrible. What is really interesting is how viral this has become, not just because of Joss Whedon's credentials but because they utulised the power of Twitter, Facebook and more. A good lesson (plus an excellent film)

says videos are down or can't watch on site..saw that the other day as well..humm
- Eric Gehler
It was so successful, they were forced to move to a bigger server. Yet it failed to become 'popular' on Digg: http://talhost.net/digg-sh... <-- Conspiracy?

I've seen this - it's absolutely brilliant! I'm a big fan of Joss Whedon & this doesn't disapoint!
- Nikki
I'm now going to check this out - I loved his buffy musical
- Ed Dale
Make sure you watch this before midnight on Sunday, the videos come down then.
- Andrew Nesbitt
Totally and utterly brilliant. And yes, the Musical Buffy episode is one of my favorites, although I find it extremely sad - then again, so is this. I love this, sympathy for the devil kind of viewpoint, as well. Great stuff. And i would have PAID for this, not something i generally do, if i could get itunes for linux... It doesn't seem to want to sell it unless you have itunes which is a shame.

Laughed so much...my face hurt...brilliant!
- Karen Kramer
I REALLY enjoyed this post. Thank you Lisa. Dr Horrible is NICE :)
- Graeme
That would mean that in future we will have websites and blogs in videos more than written articles.
- Govindji Patel
Awesome how cool is that and yes serious SEM & SEO implications

Not sure about the whole google as broadcast network thing but... here's my next video script: "big game hunting... deep woods... hunting license... bear or dear... great kill... bullseye... in Montanna... high brush... my ghillie suit... good rifle... .22 caliber or .38 caliber... early morning dew... see you next time".
- Vince
@Vince Google as a Broadcast Network in terms of attracting the attention of demographics (ie men - women -18-25 etc). Main Stream Commercial Advertisement will shift $ toward the most viewer ship. As Television becomes less popular and internet "viewer ship" increases the $ paradigm shift will take place. From history sake, first it was newspapers, then Television, now Internet. The money will go to where the most people spend their leisure time. Google is preparing for that in all their endeavors.
- Eric Gehler
This is going to be crazy as the savvy marketers will be keyword researching their script before they utter a word online. Just think about the back catalogue of videos which will become searchable in the near future via voice recognition.

A short video to show how Google Suggest works and to imagine how this might change people’s behaviours if it gets deployed as the default search model.
- Andy Roberts
from Bookmarklet
I showed this to a couple of non internet savvy people & it confused the hell out of them - they didn't know what to do & thought those were the only results available - they didn't understand that they could keep typing - I doubt/hope it won't go into use - it would definitely change the playing field.
- Ginger G
Scary to think how all SEO efforts could be rendered useless overnight on millions of sites. Would be very keen to learn how Google would determine what keyphrases should be 'suggested' and how this would also affect AdWords campaigns.
- Julia Papageorgiou
I've noticed that Google searches on iPhone suggest word completion as you type, but do not push the suggested results. For example, I tried your "London river trips" search on I phone but only got word completion suggestions - and very different search results (at least for the first few visible on the screen). That, of course, could be because I am in the US. Word completion, handy for dealing with little touch and mobile phone keys. Suggest-ed results? Not interested.
- Debra Durham
I think the gains and losses in traffic due to shifts between long tail phrases and popular phrases will probably even themselves out in the long run, but there could be some major upsets if Google Suggest suddenly goes mainstream. By the way, have you noticed the search results stats displayed next to the suggestions? Handy.
- Andy Roberts
The other thing that might totally change organic search traffic is Google Social Search ( google with digg like functionality added) but that's a year or so off yet.
- Andy Roberts
well, could as stated cause abandonment if suggested words are simular to what viewer was looking for, could also be a way for google to monetize those phrases would also change long tail kw effectivness. Note here the lab suggest page is not a default - this is a good thing
- JuneM
Interesting comment about Google altering behavior to shorten the long tail; I wonder how mudh the 50% unique search figure will decline. Right now it looks like a good tool to identify low compete phrases Google finds relevant. Andy, I've seen several blog posts about the Digg like Google being presented to users, apparently at random. It's not even a lab item yet, hmmmmm....
- Vince
Yes, I agree. FF is a great idea. I've decided though rather than add it to Google Reader, to keep it as a separate site - sort of Google Reader for interaction if you know what I mean :-) Every time I open Flock, GR and FF both open together so everything is nicely under control.
- Mark McGimpsey
Yes, I have it set up and it's great. Just one problem... I find that I am reading various tweets, posts and feeds multiple times. This is because I've added feeds to Google Reader, then added the same people to FF, then added the RSS feed for FF back to GR... it's a bit like when you set mirrors opposite each other. Anyone got a good suggestion?
- James Ward
Ah, a night's sleep helps to answer one's own questions... I'm going to remove from GR and feeds which I have added to FF. As soon as FF is offered as a native iPhone app I'll follow Mark McG's suggestion above.
- James Ward
Amazing piece of software. I love it!
- Ernesto Diaz
I set up FF but it said my google reader ID is not found and it did that with Facebook also. Anyone have any thoughts?
- Susan Bonfiglio
Yes set it up when I watched one of your videos about it a while back and also set up a room in relation to my blog and it has started to generate traffic already, and I am just learning what to do. Can't wait for the 30DC to start so I can learn how to use it properly.
- Wayne Brewin
from twhirl
thanks Bob, I was just about to post a link as well, since we doubled up posting in the 30DC Forum
- Eric Gehler
Bob, I'm always looking for a great image to use on a web site, worth 1000 copywriters! Thanks for the tip. (Actually I already had an account from last year's 30DC - but I forgot more than many will ever learn last year :)
- MyklK (Michael K)
On a similar note, since we're likely to be using video this year I suspect: does anyone know of good sources for music that it's safe to use, please?
