Trying the new Facebook "everyone" search today so see what I could find about District 9. It looks as if this may be a useful tool. There were plenty of posts. I was even able to comment on a persons post, but what I noticed is when he replied I received no alert of the response. I had to re-search and find comments. This has to be fixed.
Not wonderful news if accurate. Your G1 had a nice 10 month life span. I wonder how people will feel about potentially missing out on any new android features in future versions.

From T-Mobile Corporate to the Forum moderator: We plan to continue working with Google to introduce future software updates to the T-Mobile G1. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate.

I haven't tried Sherpa, but the UI screenshots make my eyes bleed. That is one ugly app.

Tried Sherpa out last night. Hard to look at, UI not intuitive and did not run well on G1. (That last may be due to limitations of the G1.) I'll stick with Google's Places Directory (http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2009...). Aloqa is also a better choice but I like Places Directory best in this category.

doesn't look like Sherpa has any data for places outside the US...at least not working in Canada

I've used it very briefly, and I've seen quirky results pop up in categories- e.g. a local minister in the dining section. I couldn't find my favorite Japanese restaurant while searching at home, but while down the road a short distance it popped right up in the carousel. I don't use this kind of app often, but I prefer Google Places as well.
