Tsudo, I used to use All-in-one gestures, but have switched to FireGestures, largely due to it being more stable. You might want to compare. Also, NoScript is missing from your collection and covers the functionality provided by Flashblock.
- Tanath
I'll try FireGestures. NoScript drives me nuts. I keep it disabled because it requires too much work to keep the web working the way I want. I prefer using only Flashblock
- Keith (aka Tsudohnimh)
It may require a little more effort, but that's the price of security, which is sorely needed on Windows. Most sites work fine with JS disabled, and allowing a site either temporarily or permanently is only 2 clicks away. Also, you generally only need to enable a site once, then you're good to go. It's worthwhile in the long run. Flashblock does the job for flash, but NoScript covers Java too, which is a bigger risk & annoyance.
- Tanath
I agree that convenience is always at odds with security but in this instance it wasn't worth the hassle.
- Keith (aka Tsudohnimh)
You don't think preventative measures (ie., a couple clicks here & there after the initial spree) are worthwhile? Preventative measures save time in the long run.

Do we have to sign up to it again, or are we automatically in if we did it last year anyone? I'm already getting dupe emails from Ed (30dc & 30dc+) & don't need them in triplicate :))
- Isha (Marysia)
Nothing that I know of has been said that we need to signup again. We should know soon though. I would think that they will just have the new ppl signup or all of our posts and all that information on the forum would be a 404 mess. Unless of course, with the site facelift they will be wiping the slate clean . Don't know?? Hmm...

Hope they tell us soon. :) I want to learn how to win prizes!

I'm loving the countdown clock I keep going to the site just to listen to it ...with each tick tock I can feel my excitement and anticipation raising. Do you think when the alarm goes off the doors will be flung open we all stampede in dancing and singing along with fireworks and streamers and pink thongs being flung into the air in celebration...just wondering~G
- Groobers
Trouble was, I had several 30dc tabs open in Flock, trying to catch up with last year and they all went to the clock after a reload... I couldn't figure where all the static was coming from - just a bunch of clocks out of sync :)
- Martin Percival
Groobers, I want to see you throw your pink thong into the air :) I'll sing.
- Isha (Marysia)
Girls girls, behave now! But boy o boy if Groobers is like this on forums, I would love to see what she does after she's knocked off a few :-)

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!!! A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day. The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room,so he decided to send an email to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email. Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack. The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted. The widow's son rushed...

"If you want your blog to better in Google’s search results, Matt Cutts recommends WordPress. According to a presentation Google’s Webspam captain gave at WordCamp San Francisco, Word Press takes care of about 80-90 percent of SEO mechanics." This post has some more great tips for ranking also!

I thought this bit was interesting for the 30dc: "For URL paths with keywords in them, Cutts says dashes (hyphens) are preferred over underscores to separate words, but no spaces between words is a bad idea (example.com/my-keywords)." So we should put hyphens between words - it's not clear if Cutts is including the domain name in this or not. Also interesting: "Make lists [for blog posts] Create controversy "

don't forget last.fm. they're attempting to grow the social network aspect of media interchange. disappointed that the zune was merely a re-brand and nothing to do with utilitarian functionality w/ the zunehd. but it's a step in the right direction for them.
