Just uploaded a video to show how you can make your podcasts (or any audio product) sound more professional by mixing a couple of pieces of audio together seamlessly on Audacity. Thought it might come in useful for all 30DCers (or 30DCer Plus) who are moving on to create their own products: http://www.youtube.com/watch...
Great vid Lisa Thanks!! Audacity rocks for audio.I have been using the beta1.3 (unicode) version and really like it.If I may add to your tut, you can fine tune the moving of a track(s) by selecting the "Time Shift" icon (the double headed arrow) and then click, hold and move the track with the mouse. Helps to fine align the tracks after doing the align to cursor move :)
- Ron"micronet"Harwood
Excellent - will give that a mention in my next tutorial. I'm so used to working with Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition that I forget how things work in Audacity between times!
- Lisa
Click on the blue button arrow on the right to see the lot. This post goes together with this one: http://friendfeed.com/thirty-... (Unfortunately you can't upload stuff in a FF comment).
- Isha (Marysia)
Isha, Can I pull your leg? I'm going to anyway. You should be reading the book "Getting things Done". Too much time spent organizing you folders is a clear indication of procrastination... Although useful, it will not add to your bottom line. :-)
- Juan Pablo
Hehe Juan :-D Pull as much as you want. I now save dollops of time trying to find everything - it was driving me crazy. I have Getting Things Done ;-)
- Isha (Marysia)
This is a duplicate of my post on the 30dc+ forum: I spent so much time arranging my 30dc+ stuff into meaningful folders, and also putting the darned numbers in front of them that I thought other 30dc+ers might like to see the way I've arranged them. This first shot is an overview of the folders:
Click on it to see it at a better resolution. Then you can see the files that are in each folder by going to this flickr set: http://www.flickr.com/photos... You need to click on each screenshot to see it at a larger resolution. Hope someone finds it useful :-)
- Isha (Marysia)
If anyone has good ideas as to what BN and DE stand for I'd be interested to know :-D
- Isha (Marysia)
Thats pretty cool how he set up the page. Just to note: The "real" time refers to when the listing was indexed by Google and not necessarily the "real" time it was published on the web:)
- Ron"micronet"Harwood
That makes sense about something I was puzzled about Ron - thank you for that :D
- Isha (Marysia)
I especially like these: "I make 100 personal contacts daily and write 3 pages of content"; "When you launch your blog, have an inventory of 20-30 killer article ideas ready to go" ("pillar content"); "Find the top 20-30 blogs in your space, and get acquainted with them" (not sure how I'm going to do that one, with 4 different microniches), and "From day one, make sure you have an opt-in box and encourage your visitors to sign up for an email list"
- Isha (Marysia)
I started off laughing so bad when I read the comment “Little Ed and The Bally-Twins” and ended up crying by the time I finished reading your article for your friend Paul - cancer is crap and I hate it with every bone in my body - thinking of the family and aching for the pain cancer has caused in yet another families lives.

Time and time again I see the discussion about free content, free services, free products, and how they’re going to liberate/destroy/change the current economy, especially when it comes to the Internet. Often, one important point is neglected. When it comes to free, it’s not the price that’s crucial.
- Sam Katakouzinos
This is a great article to read if, like me, you are trying to figure out how what you can offer can be a service/product that people are willing to pay for. What are your thoughts?
- Sam Katakouzinos
Have you tried the book "Free" by Chris Anderson (from Wired/Longtail fame). Must read; Just ordered my real hardcover version after divulging the free audiobook. http://www.thelongtail.com/

Good heavens, did you all notice that we now have 2,999 subscribers to this room? I recall having joined in Jan 09 when we were about 2000 strong. Time sure flies :-) Whoever the lucky 3000th subscriber is, WELCOME! and feel free to introduce yourself.
Hi Mary. Thank you for the kind words. Yes: we are working hard on a version of feedly for safari (and chrome). We have a working prototype. I think that within 2 or 3 more weeks of polishing, we should be able to give users access to a beta. We will let you know when it happens.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
hey Edwin - put me on that beta list too!

Well got my first Fundraising discount cards video going... pretty rough... am thinking Videos are going to be huge in this years 30dc so I have officially started practicing (Now to get it linking to my site some how :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch...
Good job Mark! I liked the tone of your voice, natural and convincing. Just a few pointers. If you can, get a filler light to avoid the shadows on your left. Also, I guess you need them for reading, but the glasses give a lot of distracting reflection. Try to get what you are reading closer to the camera, to maintain the illusion that you are looking at the camera. That smile at the end... do that more often. Big thumbs up!!!
- Jorge Blanco
Thank you Jorge! Yes Unfortunately I need them for reading... Makes it obvious that one eye brow is higher than the other :-) Until this video I thought I was perfect :-) Thank you for the pointers I think I will change back grounds for the next video... my first 18 takes were VERY dry compared to this one... yesterday it took me 19 minutes of "film" to get two minutes.. Practice practice practice
- Mark South
I would think I need to do all the normal book marking and social networking on this you tube page... Right? Think anything special for Videos??
- Mark South
Regular Bookmarking applies, but you might also want to check TubeMogul (free) and TrafficGeiser ($$$) for uploading your vid to other video sites ;)
- Jorge Blanco
Great job on your video. You come across well. Try memorizing your pitch. It will make it seem more natural ( I know it seems like a contradiction), but it works and you won't have to wear your glasses. --Tam

would be cool to be able to abuse Google's uber storage capacity to send huge files which get converted to a link for the recipient to download, like dropsend, etc. but built in
- Ben
still waiting for googles dropbox....
- Chris Hofmann
@Ben @Chris: I'm not sure why Google, despite it's massive server capacity, hasn't offered those services. Maybe because it consumes too much bandwidth with little opportunity for sufficient monetization in the way they want?

Driving Me Nuts: For the 2nd day in a row, I've logged out of one Twitter account and logged into another, on the browser, and sent a tweet -- and that tweet has shown up in another account! Twitter seems to not be keeping track of which account I'm in! Is this just me or is someone else -- ANYone else -- having this problem?
The problem I'm having is in the browser, on the twitter.com web site. I've already decided to only tweet using Digsby for now, which at least knows which account to send to. I've run into this catching up in the AM. Thanks, tho, Jorge; I'll be looking into it! 8-)
- LJF Wolffe
I have a similar problem, but on Seesmic desktop: in my twitter's Home column for username ishabluebell I have people who are following an identity I have in one of my niches (in addition to the people who follow ishabluebell). Totally bizarre, & a bit annoying.
- Isha (Marysia)
Moreover, in Seesmic, when I click on each username identity I have, the display often doesn't change. And I've tried to click on links a zillion times, but no browser tab opens up, ever.
- Isha (Marysia)
Eww! 8-( That stinketh! Digsby gives you an icon for each account, and ne'er the twain shall meet; I'm only having trouble on the site itself, thank goodness. I hope that can be fixed 4 U, Isha!
- LJF Wolffe
Eh, it's not much more than v irritating. I get much worse prog issues than that. I shall use Seesmic for the sake of having many columns open at once, but prolly also use Twhirl, since I can't get Seesmic to show any more than 3 entries at once, unlike Ed's, which shows 5 or 6 entries at once. Anyone else get that - I can't make my Seesmic window any longer than about 5 inches tall? It doesn't do resizing at all.
- Isha (Marysia)
@Isha Seesmic Desktop's Home column always combines all your accounts. That's no bug at all.
- Michael Netsch
Try peoplebrowsr. I really like it - all inside your browser, so no worries about downloading and installing (and changing settings) on different computers
- Alistair (alpinefolk)
I really like having an icon in the system tray -- instant access without taking up a browser tab or screen space. And I'm keeping an eye on 4 different accounts. But I'll take a look. Thanks!
- LJF Wolffe
Thanks Michael - well I never! When I want to look at Home for @ishabluebell I don't want to have to see a load of entries that belong in one of my niche products - how horrible is that! @Alistair: as far as I can see, People Browser only comes with light-coloured writing on a dark background. I find that a trial to read. But thanks for the suggestion.
- Isha (Marysia)
LJF Wolffe: PeopleBrowsr comes in an AIR version as well. Download link is on the bottom of the main PeopleBrowsr screen
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Isha: PeopleBrowsr has completely customizable Themes. You can change all the colors as you like them. Themes link is also at the bottom of the page, next to the PB AIR download link.
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Also, in PeopleBrowsr, using multiple accounts is easy. Each stack will have an avatar for each twitter account. Select the one that you want to see tweets from/to, and all your replies/DMs will go from that account (in that stack). If you select multiple avatars the replies/DMs come from your primary account. Posting new tweets via the top banner post box, select the TO button, and check where you want the post to go (one or more twitter accts, plus Facebook, Friendfeed, identi.ca and ping.fm)
- guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Apparently it is. Oh, well -- workarounds are easy. Will take a look at PeopleBrowsr, too, and see how it stacks up to Digsby for me. Loving all the input! 8-)
- LJF Wolffe
Why would anyone ever use Internet explorer? Every time I refresh my page the format is different. Oh and here is the best part IE8.0 now has a button called "Compatibility view" when you place your mouse over the button it makes it sound like glorious IE8.crap will fix this horrible webpage for you.... "best veiwed In firefox"
Michael.. as I started reading the chart I was thinking that this had to be a joke... then I read on... they were right on....
- Mark South
The good news is I now have the template page working on 4 different computers with 3 different browsers... that was a good chunk out of my life , thanks IE:-)
- Mark South
Mark, you can save your self some time and hassle by using the IE tab add-on for FireFox. It lets you change the rendering engine (Browser view if you will) with one click right in FireFox :) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US... Also the Firebug add-on can help you pinpoint your design quirks when doing a layout.https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US...

Had a volume problem with 30DC+, so I did this. But basically you can do this for anything you listen to on iTunes to increase the max volume. 1) In iTunes go to View>Show Equalizer. Increase Pre-Amp all the way up to increase volume. 2) Right click on the video or song file you're having sound problems with in iTunes. Get Info>Options>Volume Adjus
Thanks Art, there are so many podcasts where that happens. However there is one Q+A between Dan and Ed where Dan is really high and Ed low and increasing this may well burst the eardrums with Mancunian tonality
- Graham Hunt
No, there is one in the Edge where Ed is standing on the other side of a field compared to Dan. You turn it right up every time Ed peaks and then suddenly kerpow......
- Graham Hunt
Oh. Ok. I'm not a member of the Edge, so I don't know that one...
- Art Y.
It was the same in the thirtydaychallenge tv show the other day. Bam! :D
- Isha (Marysia)
Thank you so much for this Art - it's really helped me.
- Isha (Marysia)
I also recommend VLC player if you are listening in the computer. It can turn up the volume 400%! Great with low volume files, plays almost anything.
- Jorge Blanco
Think how interesting something like this would be embedded on your webpage.
- Isha (Marysia)
Wow Isha just noticed mine how did you do that? Looks very cool will have to take a closer look thanks G
- Groobers
Hey my friend nice to be linked in among the greats, not sure I quite fit but I'll take it cheers matey :)
- Groobers
You just go to spezify.com & put in your own name/domain/keyword/whatever. I reckon this is going to open up all sorts of possibilities for our sites, branding, links etc.
- Isha (Marysia)
It told me that a particular person bookmarked one of my posts in Delicious. And have you noticed that you get "related words" along the top? I've just discovered that you can drag the page around too. And if you keep on dragging it, it keeps bringing you more & more stuff.
- Isha (Marysia)
Have seen a recent rise on my ranking. Waiting to see the full power of Traffic Bug. On a side note, my NetworkedBlogs profile now ranks #1 for a secondary keyphrase. SEOC 22million Not too shabby ;)
"It might just become the hub of your social media empire… Prior to SU.PR (pronounced “super”), I had to use ping.fm for updating Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn at the same time, bit.ly for basic analytics like click-through, scattered tools for viewing retweets, and nothing allowed me to schedule tweets well. SU.PR fixes all of this and adds much more. In one place, I can now: - Submit my content to StumbleUpon’s 7.9 million users with each post - Have my best content showcased in a right-hand sidebar for each page I link to (here’s an example) - Get suggestions for optimal posting times: get more traffic per post - Schedule as many tweets or posts as I want, for any time - See my click-throughs in real-time - See retweets for each post, including the biggest influencers (ranking coming soon) - Post to Twitter and Facebook at the same time, with more platforms in the pipeline - Use my own short URL (i.e. www.fourhourblog.com/ab123) instead of someone else’s branding"
