"Have you heard "Reservoir" by Fanfarlo? It's my favorite album of the year. They sound a lot like Arcade Fire and that's not a bad thing."

It’s generally not worth one’s time to point out that Rob Enderle is wrong about something. Enderle, for those of you who don’t know, is one of those “technology analysts” who gets paid to “consult” on the current trends and future directions of the technology industry. Why anyone would pay for his services is beyond me. Enderle is so frequently wrong about the market, misguided in his predictions, and fallacious in his analysis that I’d need to start a whole new website just to accurately catalogue the various mistakes he’s made and lies he’s told over the years.

"If you pulled the app yourself, you don't need to resubmit it and wait for Apple to approve it. It will still appear in iTunes Connect as 'removed by developer'. Simply go to edit application information and go to the pricing page. At the bottom of that page it will show all of the international stores. Check all of them that you want the app to be sold in, and it will be available again."

Not what I expected. It actually lists the flaws of each argument. Good for rebutting someone trying to convince you of god's existence.

"Doesn't Chrome OS let you resume the same session when you log in on a different device? If that's the case, a student doesn't even have to carry a device. Just build them into the desks, and a student can log in when he sits down, log off when he leaves, and when he goes to a different classroom or goes home to his own Chrome OS device, he just logs in and picks up where he left off."

Unfortunately, this is exactly what we're doing to generate the feed used by the ICanHasCheezburger app by scraping the web page & using a PHP regex to extract elements. It often fails.

I don’t know how one goes about finding these things, but someone noticed a weird source code for this page. It’s a very basic, unspectacular catalog page for Fujinon Binoculars. But take a look at the source code. This screenshot is but a

"Attention to detail is what always separates Apple from the competition. They pay close attention to every little detail of how their UI looks and acts. The others may be able to duplicate the functionality, but they never get the little things right that make it a pleasure to use."

"If you're using FeedBurner you shouldn't be seeing much bandwidth usage from people subscribed to the feed. All requests to your feed URL should get redirected to FeedBurner, and it should only check your feed a few times an hour. Everyone else will be hitting FeedBurner instead of your site."

Grocery bill. That's not even a question.
- Rochelle
If I got to choose the wine then I'd probably go for that; there are some nice wines I'd like to try but couldn't justify right now. I'd rather pay for normal groceries and know there was a special luxury reward coming at the end of each month.
- Mark H
Only if I spent $500 or more in groceries per month would I like the 50% off. Other wise, I would rather have the $500 bottle of wine and sell it to someone who could afford it at a slight discount.
- Melanie Reed
I'd prefer the discount. Then I could buy a $10 bottle of wine to celebrate. ;-)
- John (a.k.a. dendroica)
50% my grocery bills, especially since I don't drink (and even when I did, I certainly didn't drink wine).
- Curtiss Grymala
50% off my grocery bill would be heaven.
- WorldofHiglet
Definitely 50% of grocery bill. I wouldn't know a $500 bottle of wine from a $50 bottle. But wait - could I sell the wine? Because that would be more than the 50% . . .
- Amy℠
Add me to the 50% pile, I'm in the same boat as Jason and Micah
- Heather Solos
I love my wine but I'm with Anika....cheap wine & 50% off groceries!
- Bonnie Foster
from iPod
50% off. The wine-selling is intriguing, because that would be more than 50% off my grocery bill, but I'm not sure I'd want to go through the hassle of reselling it.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
Have to take the Wine option... Hell wine ages and becomes more valuable over time & u can resell in the future!! :)
- Brady
50% off groceries so I can split the savings between the local food banks and animal shelters.
- vicster
I don't drink, so at first it would seem like a no brainer and that 50% off the groceries would be the smart answer, till I realized that I am too frugal for that to amount to as much as the amount I would get by selling the $500 bottle of wine. In order to save $500 on groceries, you need to have a grocery bill of $1000, and mine is around $150 for a family of 3. Even if I were to sell...

- April Russo (app103)
I just wouldn't want the hassle of trying to unload a $500 bottle of wine every month...
- Andrew C
50% of each grocery bill, for sure.
- Jan Ole Peek
50% off. But if you would suggest me the same thing with a $ 50 bottle of beer, I would change my opinion. ;-)
- Ton Zijp
Seems redundant to post at this point but....50% OFF!
- Robyn Hawk
Robyn, thanks for participating! Actually, redundancy makes the internet work on several levels. :)

Oh it had already happened by the time I got there. I helped them with a redesign of their Page Creator, Site Creator, and file management tools. The glory that is GeoCities design was entirely of its users' making. GeoCities was made of people. The original MySpace.

We were your competitors over at FreeServers. My Uncle founded Freeservers.com :-)
- Jesse Stay
BTW, for some odd reason Freeservers is still up (owned by United Online, owners of NetZero, etc)
- Jesse Stay
We used to talk about creating what would now be called a social network at Freeservers. Not sure what happened to that. I guess it's no surprise we didn't see anything considering they're owned by the owners of Classmates.com :-)

Of course the big thing back then was becoming the next "Portal"
- Jesse Stay
Yeah. It was ironic that when I started at Google they were very wary of becoming the next 'Portal' where portal meant 'walled garden'. In actuality, a portal is a thing that you go through to get from where you are to where you're going, and in that context Google was already more of a portal than any of the other major players, but terms shift...
- Kevin Fox
yeah, funny especially considering iGoogle, etc.
- Jesse Stay
Well, that was way before iGoogle. But even then the idea of a dashboard was more appealing to Google than a walled garden of content.
- Kevin Fox
Rock on, Kevin. Looking forward to your next big thing. twss.

Since at some point spammers will find your site and create splogs, there’s many ways to stop them. Deleting them as they occur is like shovelling snow during a blizzard. You can add another field to signup, add a captcha, go invite-only, or in the case of my main niche blogging site - moderate the signups. This works well for smaller signups where you don’t get a huge number of new bloggers on a daily basis, and where spammers have proven to be a general nusiance, a potential embarrasement, as well as a time suck.

For developers and designers of successful (and profitable) web based applications, time and careful attention are given to the page where the users sign up or give their money. What point is there to creating a beautiful, functional application to only turn users off with a confusing signup page or convoluted pricing plans?

Within days of the iTunes 9 and iTunes LP announcement, people had already thoroughly hacked apart the iTunes LP format only to discover it was just a clever combination of images, HTML, CSS and Javascript. Because any web developer could create an iTunes LP, it seemed strange that indie labels were left out in the cold, with LPs having a high cost of entry and no distribution of their LPs on the iTunes Store.
