When he was still working at a start-up, Bret Taylor remembers sharing an office with a former Google engineer who was building a virtual pets game on Facebook called "(fluff) Friends." "I didn't really get it," said Taylor, now director of the Facebook platform. But he asked his office mate, who toiled alone with his laptop, how many users he had. "And he said, 'Ten million.'"

Ah yes, the FF 1.0 office days. I remember this. :)

Where is this gaia physically located? If it is somewhere good, this might be the kind of thing Bethany would like (Rob will you pass it on?).
- Clare Dibble
Gaia is in San Jose, right next to the san jose airport

What's the best neighborhood to live in in San Francisco for (1) lively nearby cafes and shops (2) upscale city living with all amenities within walking distance?
bonus points if commute to Palo Alto is not impossible... but I care more about the local area than about the commute... it is just temporary anyway

Planning a trip to India... going from ???? to Goa to Rajastan to Golden Triangle to Delhi... for the "????" at the beginning, I can either spend 2 days Bombay, or skip Bombay entirely and just start and end the trip both in Delhi... what do you think?
I'm about to drive to SF (Pacific Heights) from Palo Alto, and using the 101 or the 280 will be just about the same distance (in terms of miles)... which will be faster?
Oh baby, I got this reply via e-mail... very nice. So, Google Maps says they are the same distance (since I'm going from the FB offices (near 280) to Pacific Heights (also near 280)), and I always trust Google Maps =)

If they're both close to 280 there's no contest.

The 101 is down in LA, and I don't even think the 280 exists. I agree that 280 is clearly better than 101 for you. :-)

We've usually taken 280 to 380 to 101, exit Octavia, right on Market and then left on Franklin. Franklin is key, imo, to getting up and over the hill into PacHts because of its timed lights.
