Not a surprise. My newspaper and magazine reading is nearly 100% online, but I still buy and read books in print. Perhaps the Kindle will make a difference. - Mike Showalter
Excellent PR management article! A must read for everyone! Companies small and large and Bloggers as well. - Igor The Troll
Great post that absolutely nails the PR needs of small business. - Chris Reed
Great post, don't miss Loic's video. Loic is the best in the business right now. Also, I'm writing up a bunch of Brian Solis' secrets that he didn't give and will post those shortly. - Robert Scoble
Well, actually twitter launched japanese translated interface last month though, when you switch to japanese interface, Google Ad-sence also appears. - browneyes
But no US .com business plan yet. Their recent stability would be perfect with this plan, but then we might never see uptime again. ;-) - Andrew Dobrow
I love AlertThingy too, ukstevieb! Though I like to try new apps (addicted to AIR). Sadly, feedalizr is great but some UI oddities appear now and again. Is alpha after all ;-)...via feedalizr - Matt Harwood
This looks pretty and all, but it's difficult to tell exactly what it does. There's not even a legible screenshot so far as I can tell. - Prunella
thanks for the tip...just installed, and so far so good. AlertThingy has been bugging me lately the way wide images mess up the ui, cutting off all the alerts on the right......via feedalizr - Trent Olson
Only failure is a lack of Twitter account support from what I can see + it's a little fat (wide). other than that, very nice indeed...via feedalizr - Duncan Riley
It looks like it has twitter support Duncan...via feedalizr - Ross Maguire
Duncan, it has twitter support! Hit the twitter logo up top and fill in details. Can post to twitter (but not "read" twitter) - Matt Harwood
@Duncan: and you can reply to tweets by clikcing the little back arrow button next to the tweet...via feedalizr - Trent Olson
Feedalizr just underwent a huge facelift and makeover. Much better now. - J. Phil
Trying it now. Alert Thingy is better but both of them have uncomfortable UI. Twitterrific would be the best if it incorporated Friendfeed...via feedalizr - Parvez Halim
I agree Phil, I tried it before and wasn't too keen. Now I'm in lurve (needs room support though - I'm sure it's coming)...via feedalizr - Matt Harwood
I dont see any inline support for Twitter though, my twtr + FF contact list doesn't match up so I still need to import from Twitter. Working on fixing this though :-) - Duncan Riley via twhirl
Thanks. It's very cool. I tried Alert Thingy first and every external link clicked launched my html editor. Curious. ...via feedalizr - Prunella
I like it too, matt!!!! :D...via feedalizr - Adam Robertson
Prunella: sounds like you have html files set by default to open your html editor on your system. Don't think that's an issue with AlertThingy :-) - Matt Harwood
I'm not really feeling it. Might try it again after a while once they add some more functionality like collapsing comments and such. - Vaughn via Alert Thingy
Giving it a try now.. I like the concept :) - Brad McCrorey
I uninstalled it already. It kept jumping to the top every time someone posted something new. I couldn't even finish reading one set of comments before I was cut off. I still prefer web as well. - David Cook
Why totally uninstall mate? It is alpha with many bugs, sure, but its general design is so much smoother than the twhirl experience (no offense to Loic :-) )...via feedalizr - Matt Harwood
Wow, this is extremely slick. Thanks for the heads up!...via feedalizr - Evan Sims
doesnt alertthingy also bump stuff to top with new comments too? I wish some app would know not to do that...via feedalizr - Photo Larry
well, that was a fun hour or so with Feedalizr, before it seemed to crap out on me. I'll have to check back on it again in the future (maybe the next time AlertThingy craps out?) - Trent Olson via Alert Thingy
I had the same experience Trent Olson. Gave it up... maybe until a later alpha or even a beta. It's very slick though. - Prunella
@Matt Harwood thanks, I had considered that, however links in any other (non-browser) application have no problem activating the link in an actual browser. I'm no application developer, but it strikes me as something that can be controlled. - Prunella
Matt: "Why totally uninstall mate? It is alpha with many bugs, sure, but its general design is so much smoother than the twhirl experience (no offense to Loic :-) )..." I am suscribed to all you tech-savy people on FF and I have all kinds of different RSS Feeds on my Outlook 07' that alert me to all kinds of new software and websites to try out. If I like it, I keep it. (ie: my love for friend feed) If I don't, I uninstall it so that I don't bog down my hard drive with software I don't use regularly. I'll probably give it another shot when I hear you guys/gals rave about the new upgrades or a feature on it that I didn't catch making it worth keeping. btw: no offense taken. - David Cook
Love these. Do you have an app that you use to make them? - Mike Showalter
I use ComicLife. I started using ComicLife for these back in 2005, and then everyone else discovered the app, so I lost first mover advantage. :-) http://plasq.com/comiclife/ - Louis Gray
It pains me to post this with the Yankees in last place. - Mike Fruchter
My next door neighbour on the left is a Mets fan and the one on the right is a Yankees fan. We spend all summer standing outside arguing the toss, especially when the Sox are doing well :) - Sally Church
Sally that's funny. My fiancee is a red sox fan as well. She rubs it in all the time, especially with the momentum the sox have had for the past few years. - Mike Fruchter
This is worse. I'm a Met fan and my wife is a Yankee fan. As I'm typing I'm watching the Mets losing and I hear the Yankees winning in the next room. I had a good weekend last week with a 2 game sweep. The Mets and Yankees are both disappointing this year. Still time to pull it together. - Kevin Shannon
Yankees playing the Mariners. Sad to say that it will be a great way for them to get back on track. - Mike Showalter
Sometimes strangers have interesting things to say. You might learn something by stepping out of your comfort zone every now and then. - Lindsay Donaghe
i follow strangers exclusively, and i'm learning a lot from them, actually. so far i've rotated through various areas of interest, including archaeology, physics, web2.0, history, library science, et cetera. while i stop following erratically, i've found some people i really like listening to ... - hisherness
It's all about networking!!!!! that's the point of social networks, otherwise I would just grab my phone and txt my friends! - FaceySpacey
I learn something new and valuable from strangers every day. - Mike Showalter
so you guys obviously use twitter in a different way than I do. for me it's an "inner circle" of folks - mostly here in Seattle - that I know at least well enough to recognize on the street. Recent tweets become an instant conversation starter when I see them in person. - Alan Steele
I tend to follow many of the people who "follow" me -- depending on how they use Twitter. If they are active and post good stuff, then I follow them. If they tend to only post trivial stuff then i don't follow them. There is so much great stuff out there being posted by Louis Gray (above) and others. Seems to me the art -- especially if you are wary of the firehose -- is following the right people - Christian Anderson
Just thought you'd like to know: the new layout doesn't work well on FireFox/Mozilla on a Mac, at least for me. I see one big blank space on the top with the sidebars on each side, with the posts floating to bottom of page. - Mike Showalter
Jeez I'm on Mac/Firefox too. Is there anything weird about your setup? I know it's breaking on Win/IE, I gotta work on that -- but it should be okay given semi current versions of MacOS & Firefox. It doesn't do the same thing in Safari does it? That would be really wack. - Edith Frost
It is better than Tweetscan, as it appears to be live, and shows conversations. - Louis Gray
I really like how you can expand/collapse a shortened url link before you click it. Good to protect against being rick rolled. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
That's Paul. Miss your posts and find you again here in FF. Nice! ---- and ---- Tweetscan and Summize is so different if you have a little time @Brian : ) *A special note: Yahoo is coming Turkey in this months. And Y! offered me Community Manager position; turn my mail months ago, maybe u remember smthng : ) - Erhan Erdogan
Advanced search options set this apart from Tweetscan for me. - Mike Showalter
I use Twitter search tools in a very rudimentary way, so I haven't really detected a difference in quality between Summize and TweetScan. However, after reading this review and its search examples, it's obvious that I should dig into Summize (and TwetScan) a little more. - Ontario Emperor
"Aggressive dude calling his lawyer. Aggressive dude: Hey Mr. Lawyer man. Someone took a photo of me and put it on the internets. I want to sue his ass. Mr. Lawyer Man: Uh, sorry Mr. Aggressive dude, it's not illegal for someone to photograph you or post your photo on the internets. Aggressive Dude: But Mr. Lawyer Man, it's on digg now and my friends are starting to mock me over it. Mr. Lawyer Man: Sorry dude, maybe you shouldn't have been such an asshole to the guy. Aggressive Man: What, (in the best jerky boy voice possible), what kind of lawyer are you? how about I SUE YOU then! Mr. Lawyer Man: Goodbye. And please pay me my $150 bill by the due date this time." - Thomas Hawk
Reminds me of the poor dogpoop girl in Japan. ...except the lawyer way. :-( - Mitchell Tsai
Thomas, I absolutely LOVE your action script above... fabulous!! a movie awaits you!! - Susan Beebe
It´s now on the third spot with almost 2000 diggs :-). - Henrik Johansson
Something is wrong in the Facebook developer community. Starting in March I began noticing that the level of activity in the Facebook developers forum was - Mike Showalter
