@Matt Harwood thanks, I had considered that, however links in any other (non-browser) application have no problem activating the link in an actual browser. I'm no application developer, but it strikes me as something that can be controlled. - Prunella

I am suscribed to all you tech-savy people on FF and I have all kinds of different RSS Feeds on my Outlook 07' that alert me to all kinds of new software and websites to try out. If I like it, I keep it. (ie: my love for friend feed) If I don't, I uninstall it so that I don't bog down my hard drive with software I don't use regularly. I think the interesting thing isn't that there are popular blog-format sites, but that there is a smooth ramp from tiny personal journals to mass media, and a healthy flow of sites, links, and ideas all up and down that ramp.
