"First, you should also check out WPDB Profiling. Second, we used to use YARPP, but with an investor site that we did which had 6000+ posts and 1800+ tags, it completely choked. Even WP-Related-Posts would cause pages that displayed related posts to take 10+ seconds to load. We ended up having to write our own plugin (which is not released yet, but I hope to eventually). We called it "Related Posts -HV" (for high-volume). Basically, it stores related posts as post meta when a post is saved. It moves the heavy lifting to a one-time thing that affects the post writer, rather than affecting everyone that visits the site. However, you don't want ONLY older posts to show as related, so you need to re-process a lot of posts when a new one is saved. We created some logic that gives a value of HOW RELATED two posts are. When a post is saved, that value is generated for all posts (comparing the new one to all existing posts). The top X (you can set this value) are saved as post meta. However, every post with a r"

wow that is seriously pathetic. MS word and other word processing apps keep "versions" of "undo history".. sounds like somebody forget to set the versions to 0 none. This was something we used to do when I was working in legal for state farm, DA, FBI, etc

If you read the SF Gate article TC linked, as well as the original piece from AP, they all state it was from the transcripts. Since I am not familiar with the legal system, I can not definitively say whose fault it was.

Well, I figured, but the article also mentioned a leak from ConnectU's lawyers.

The court and the lawyers from both parties most likely were given a copy of the full, unredacted transcript. Facebook and ConnectU might have received full versions as well, though if anything discussed in the proceedings involved either company's agreements or other business dealings with third parties, they may have only gotten redacted versions to prevent the other side from seeing confidential insider information. In theory, the blunder could have come from any of the three or a combination thereof.

lesson learned: you don't redact stuff by covering them in black in Acrobat. The US DoD made the same thing a few years ago by releasing a redacted report about an incident in Iraq that involved the death of an italian officer... open in Acrobat, copy, paste... voilà.

Keep in mind that NPR member stations only generate about 1/3 of their operating budget from listeners. The remainder comes from government and corporate grants. NPR already cutting staff because corporate grants dropping as economy worsens. Not saying it's a bad idea, just that the NPR comparison only goes so far.

I think the interesting thing isn't that there are popular blog-format sites, but that there is a smooth ramp from tiny personal journals to mass media, and a healthy flow of sites, links, and ideas all up and down that ramp. In that sense it's not about whether they use WordPress or have a "personal feel" but whether they grew out of the blogosphere and continue to be engaged with it.
