We're really glad you liked it. TrainIt isn't live yet, we had put up a demo for that night to show what we're up to. We're working to get it live as soon as possible though. - Michael Tighe

When you submit something to digg, try to make sure your title is not cut off in mid-word? Very ugly when that happens.
I totally know what you mean, I find it very annoying myse - Michael Tighe from twhirl
Is this the kind of advice you were going to give to the twitter group about digg which you built up and then abandoned? - Andy Roberts
it'd be nice if people would consider appropriate spelling as well... - Kimberly J
Andy.. nope, not at all. - Maki

Subversion 1.5 is out. Spread the word! - http://subversion.tigris.org/
Doing my part to spread the word. - DeWitt Clinton
Changelists? Merge tracking? Yay! Any plans to upgrade code.google.com/p ? - Arne Roomann-Kurrik
Yup. 1.5 support is in the works, but no public timetable yet. Measured in months, though, not days, just to set expectations appropriately. - DeWitt Clinton
Subversion is a great system. I'm happy with all the web-based SaaS companies that have rolled out easy-to-use SVN + web issue tracking services, like Lighthouse and Basecamp. - Glenn Batuyong
Oooh, Merge tracking! Hurray! - Don MacAskill
I used to care about svn, not anymore. Mercurial or Git FTW. - Elias Torres

Lifehacker has a neat "Power User's Guide to Firefox 3": http://lifehacker.com/396312...

Eric Rice
You know what my defniition of being negative is? It's standing up to people and saying, Look fucker, the whole world ain't some over-30 white guy with an iPhone or Nokia. That's why I've been kicking a lot of ass lately and getting dirty with the mainstream.
I am positive, I am helpful, I don't parade my shit around to feel all relevant. And I'm not in denial about being negative. It's necessary. - Eric Rice
So yeah, tell me ONCE MORE about how great you are to the world and please provide more numbers. - Eric Rice
It's not my fault if someone is too busy performing to pay attention to what's being (and not being) said. So yeah. - Eric Rice
Anyway, shit to do. Debate amongst yourselves about the divide of realities and positivities. - Eric Rice
Tell 'em why you're mad, son! Tell 'em why you're mad! - DYKC?™
A negative person is anyone who disagrees with me - paul mooney
Well that will certainly get you page views and attention. Me? I travel so I understand this anyway. Welcome to the Donna and Valleywag and Puppet club. You will probably get rich. But I want the old Eric back who showed me a fantastic new world. The new one just sounds like everyone on Digg. Sigh. - Robert Scoble
What was the inciting event for this? - Mark Trapp
I'm not sure if it's the iPhone or Robert detailing his follower count again. Could be anything. But it's fun to watch. - Cyndy
Aha, I think I found it: http://friendfeed.com/e... Why did this require another thread? - Mark Trapp
I blame Twitter downtime - Bwana ☠
It might be important to note this discussion you are having right now is HUGE. It's not about negative or positive, it's about a shift. You both may see it, but looks to me like Eric is actually changing due to it- is anyone else? - Erin @queenofspain
I see it as moving from one echo chamber to the next - Bwana ☠
It's a reality check. Example, the Asus Eee is all the rage. I came this close (imagine fingers close together) to buying one. Then I started to see full on laptops for close to the price of the Eee 900. So, wait, why is this worth the hype then? Rather spend the money on a sweet home media server or new machine for the kids. Or both. - Tris Hussey
To me, it's hypocritical. There are many echo chambers. The World economic crash. Gas crisis. Natural disasters. Starvation. War. Politics. Racism. Homelessness. Gay marriage. Religion. Gaming. We pick and choose which ones we are passionate about and prioritize which ones we contribute to. It's all the same in this world's system. To say one is better or more important than the other, overlooks the fact that everyone is not the same and no one is faultless. - Bwana ☠
So you think you are a hero for going against the early adopters huh? Hmm, probably 6 Bln people are ahead of you - Alexander van Elsas
@bwana if that means the echochamber keeps getting bigger and bigger, until it's gone, I'm all for it - Erin @queenofspain
Not everyone is out to change the world. Some of us are really interested in one specific area, whether it's technology, early adoption, politics, community outreach, hunting, or whatever. In order for a society to continue to progress, you need people, in all fields, constantly on the fringes, who keep pushing the frontiers farther and farther. - Mark Trapp
You want to digest that and bring it back to people who don't care as much about the field? Go ahead, that's not something I'm interested in. At least not for technology. But stop telling me, either through snide "observations" or passive aggressiveness, that I'm a horrible person for not wanting to do the exact same thing as you. - Mark Trapp
But I often keep track of people going against a stream. Good for keeping 2 feet on the ground and learn a few things I didn't know before. - Alexander van Elsas
Who is this "old Eric" that Scoble keeps referring to? This cat (Eric) has been talkin' up the whole augmented reality hustle he's been messing in for a hot-minute now (and it's been playing to my cyberpunk interests pretty well). The only other cat I know about talking about these things are authors like Charlie Stross. Who is this Eric that Scoble is talking about? Or, is Scoble just... more... - DYKC?™ from Alert Thingy
Do You KNOW: Eric was the first person to give me a tour around Second Life. He built an incredible world there and was a real innovator -- pushing the space long before most of us got it. Now he's decided that it's more fun to tear down things than build new ones. That's cool, I understand that too. - Robert Scoble
It continues....... :) I need an emoticon for popcorn right now. ;) - Mathew A. Koeneker
All this Eric Rice talk has inspired me to create a new podcast tonight. LOL. In case you didn't know, he played a huge part in that too. - Bwana ☠
@Mark, oh the event was yesterday, I was using my personal space here on friendfeed to wax philosophical on some stuff and Scoble jumped my shit giving me this 'i want the old eric back' thing. Which is retarded, since I'm not in denial that I have ever not had a snark streak, I'm just been so tainted by relentless cheerleading, posturing, and too much Techcrunch culture spread about. - Eric Rice
Besides, more people get involved when you kick the shit out of each other not being nice. That's why in school FIGHT FIGHT brought the crowds. No one yelled OH SNAP PEOPLE STUDYING COME QIK NOW - Eric Rice
(you see what I did there?) - Eric Rice
Eric, that's also why football games and pep rallies only last a couple of hours. People get tired of that quickly. - Mark Trapp
And no, Alexander, I don't claim to be shit against shit. - Eric Rice
We live in a very insular world here on the wild west of the Internet. Much of what happens in this new 2.0 bubble will amount to a hill of beans. But some small part of it will shape how the 'rest' of the world uses the Internet in the future. Likely not exactly how 'we' think but it's interesting to be part of the process. On the other hand, you look across the way at a 1 BR apartment with 7 people in it and laundry hanging outside and you realize just how out of touch you are. - AJ Kohn
The conversation is happening for a reason and it needs to happen. We are dealing with technologies that allow people to share, comment and interact on levels that have never existed before. I disagree with the notion that this is an echo chamber except in the most general sense (i.e. social media is good) - I see plenty of disagreements over these issues all the time and with each disagreement over features that make one service more valuable than another we all move forward in our understanding and bnefit - Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Marco: one of the gut feelings I get (that is a) obvious and b) no one wants to admit) is that Web 2.0/social stuff is not prepared to interact with the mainstream/retail/common man, hence the rapid 'dear god google someone buy us so we can get paid'... it's brutal. A lot of the reality checking has to be directed to cheerleaders and gargoyles to say HEY YO PAY ATTENTION, but the attention of SELF way interferes. It just got to a point where I gotta scream. - Eric Rice
Eric, screaming won't work, writing/talking/discussing it will. I do it all the time, my blog posts are often not that positive on web 2.0 developments. But I try to be part of the conversation. It's the best thing to do. There is no need to scream against early adopters. All they do is what they do best, early adopt. That doesn't mean if they scream hurraay the service or technology will hit mass market. Hardly. If they don't like it it is probably a better reference for success. ...... - Alexander van Elsas
And having said that, I don't mind early adopters one bit. I believe a lot of them are in it for the passion. But I DON'T like the copycats, the breaking news sites/bloggers that produce headlines for traffic instead of knowing what it is about. And to be honest, the tech blogosphere has way to many of those people around. They talk but add nothing to the conversation. Stupid really - Alexander van Elsas
@eric - i think you are dead right - lrgely because from what I have seen the erly adpter crwd hasn't even figured out the role those tools should play for themselves. Its interesting to see the progrssion of comments and blog posts from FriendFeeders the last couple of months - they hve gne frm "wow this is awesome" to "hmm this needs to be better" to "ok i think people may be using this stuff way too much and in the wrong ways." This process is vital and a vrtual think tank has sprng up to facilitate it - Marco(aureliusmaximus)
Fight, fight, fight fight!!!! Like I said, you'll probably be rich. :-) - Robert Scoble
@scoble I listed a couple of things that it was clear that Eric has brought to the table recently (past week or two from what I recall); before that, he was talking about geo-location and tracking (while using a Segway) -- it seems he's still pushing some fronts. You mentioned you travel; can you break down what you've brought to the table based on that? Still trying to understand the haterade specifically. Marinate. - DYKC?™
yawn. Eric inspires the best sci-fi trains of thought (like two minutes ago, no "old" Eric, just the same Eric) and that's why I dig him. That being said, I could care less about the shit-talking. It's boooooring. - Jason Wehmhoener
Maybe this is off topic maybe not. Imagine Zoolander but instead of male fashion models we had bleeding edge A-Listers? Ahh , the wonders of imagination. - Mark Forman
Mark: too funny ;-) - Jason Wehmhoener

SporeCreator Launches - Make Your Own Creatures for the Forthcoming Mega-game (post) http://is.gd/zq4 cool campaign, excited re game!
I just hope EA doesn't ruin it... they're good at that - Bwana ☠
Can't buy the mac version of the creature creator yet. Lame. - Mark Trapp
EA won't ruin it, yet. Further down the line when we get Spore 3: On Holiday, then we'll be crying. - Ian Rathbone
EA won't ruin it, yet. Further down the line when we get Spore 3: On Holiday, then we'll be crying. - Ian Rathbone
The fact that they're charging $10 for a creature creator doesn't sit well with me - Bwana ☠
in EU at least, you get the price refunded from the main game if you buy both through the EA online store. - Daniel Bruce
I'm scared to like it. EA likes to screw things up. - Yolanda
So let me get this straight. You have to buy a creature creator (which seems more promotional than anything) for a game that's not out until september which you'll have to buy then. Am I reading that right? Really? - m.0

New RealPlayer app lets users rip tracks from MySpace (as well as videos from YouTube) to local/portable files. http://musically.com/blog...
i can't believe realplayer still exists. to me, that's the news value of this post. - @baratunde
Realplayer's continued existence is a shock to me too - Mo Kargas
I must concur - Daniel Bruce
Without exaggeration, I haven't used/seen/dealt with RealPlayer for the better part of 6+ years. - cmiper

What I learned by sitting in an Apple store during WWDC - http://scobleizer.com/2008...
FriendFeed rocks, is what I learned. So did VentureBeat. Thanks! - Robert Scoble
I was at an Apple Store yesterday and the employees are either really in the dark or are excellent actors! They were asking ME what was going on in Steve's keynote address! One thing they were adamant on telling me was they are not allowed to mention anything at all that was speculative until "the website has been updated." - Glenn Batuyong
Of course, if you'd used IRC (BoingBoing's channel was good) or just listened to the live audio via Ustream, you'd have got the news faster. But then again, pretending things like that don't exist and hyping FriendFeed *again* is much easier, no? - Ian Betteridge

It was fun here on FF - Andrew Smith
I was on IRC too. Yeah, but FF had a greater number of news sources and was more usefull for a bunch of other things later. - Robert Scoble
Was there news from Apple? We were beating Italy in soccer, isn't that way more important? ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
And once you add Duncan Riley's greasemonkey tabs ... why go anywhere else? - Dan Covington
I used to work at apple in the web team and we did not know what was going to be announced, we would receive all the graphics for new machines minutes AFTER the keynote and then quickly had to scramble to get webpages up. - Gerard van Schip
I was livestreaming the audio, refreshing engadget (for the photos) and following VentureBeat's FF room for the comments and for the crack. - Gez
