"I don't understand the obsession with the books/series. I haven't read the books, but I've watched some episodes and found them quite boring. :("

"I agree with everything you said except I wouldn't go as far as calling pirating - stealing, since copying cannot be completely equated with stealing, even though it may have the same effect (and some would argue for receiving the same punishment). As you said I too vehemently hate pirating because of cheapness. I simply can't justify not purchasing an app or a song for $1 but then going ahead and blowing $10 on junk food for example."

"It probably would, but no place here sells (non bootlegged) DVDs of the shows either (probably high import costs and low demand), I'd have to purchase them through Amazon and either pay exorbitant shipping fees for fast shipping or wait for the DVDs for about a month with the cheapest method. The industry needs to make it easy if not easier than torrents for me to acquire their stuff legally, not make it this difficult. I'm not saying it is great that I or anyone else doing this, for example legit music CDs are available for purchase and I have bought many of them (I admit I do not own every music file in my computer, but I buy as much of the music I love that I can) but most people still don't, I'm just trying to tell you it is not the case with everything and you'd at least relate to how stuff is from a perspective of a person willing to buy but not being able to."

"Of course it doesn't justify them if they absolutely have the means but don't *want* to, my point was you can't say all pirating is unjustifiable. If the series is popular enough because of pirating the TV companies in my country may even purchase the rights to show it and bring more money to them (since they don't think the revenue from digital downloads would be tremendous over here and there are no other means of watching it)."
