Sinatra::Synchrony is a small extension for Sinatra that dramatically improves the concurrency of your web application. Powered by EventMachine and EM-Synchrony, it increases the number of clients your application can serve per process when you have a lot of traffic and slow IO calls (like HTTP calls to external APIs). Because it uses Fibers internally to handle blocking IO, no callback gymnastics are required! Just develop as if you were writing a normal Sinatra web application, use non-blocking libraries (see below) and you're all set!

"„Maybe that is US-centric - english and a little bit of spanish will do just fine. But for anybody in Europe, language is fundamental. When a portuguese colleague of mine sits down after work at the bar to two of my dutch collagues talking to each other in their native tongue, he is likely to say 'Turn off the encryption, guys!'. What I would like to be able to do is to import only the english language status updates of my japanese ex-colleagues into my timeline, and also have an option for others to subscribe only to my english language updates so that I do not bore them with texts they cannot understand anyway.“ More on that see article The unbearable lameness of web 2.0 http://blog.koehntopp.de/archi..."

"Solution to bilingual tweets may come from a use of metadata annotations. A desktop solution seems to be easier (maybe Seesmic desktop plugin?) However iPhone app is under Twitter control and we bilinguals are at their mercy so far."
