Rooms support is now part of mioNews. We still have some minor tweaks and additions to make, but check it out and let us know what you think.
Is there a way to view room feeds? It is non-obvious so I thought I would ask. Also, a help page would be nice :)
Rob - rooms are coming very very soon, it's on our short list. With rooms, it'll also open up using mioNews as a replacement for the typical FriendFeed+Google Reader combo a lot of people do. Simply create a private room with the blogs you're interested in and use mioNews to do your news reading.

Rob - sorry, I never answered your question. It's basically just me on the product development side. There are a couple other folks advising and providing direction, but not actively coding or anything like that.

mioNews is back online. Thanks to Ben (and presumably the FriendFeed team backing him up), I was informed of what specific rate limit mioNews hit and now we're back in business. Shouldn't happen again... *fingers crossed

Nicole how many people do you follow, I have not been on since I went on holiday last Thursday and I freaked when I saw that I had 10,964 unread items. Enough to want to make you trash your computer. Well maybe not.

if i click on a topic, and there is one item, it should be marked as read automatically when i leave the topic
I am now able to mark all as read for individuals and for groups that I have aggregated without any problems on the rebooting, nice job.
mioNews now has keyboard shortcuts! They will be documented soon, but the keys are: j/k for next/prev entry, shift-n/shift-p for next/prev item on the left-hand-side, r to toggle read/unread state, s to share, c to comment, l to like, h to hate, and o to open the entry in a new window. Enjoy!

When adding a friends folder the comments window pops up whenever I use 'c' in the name (same with share and 's')

When I mark a person's post's all read, I can't click on anyone elses name and have it load there stories.
Thanks Brian - I'll check in to that. I know I haven't looked at "mark all as read" lately, so it's definitely possible a bug has slipped in.

Patrick, what is the time zone that is being used on mioNews, it seems to be about four hours ahead of PDT
Server is located in central timezone, which doesn't really explain what is going on. Fixing the timezones is also on my (quickly expanding!) list. I figure I will just honor the browser's reported timezone (rather than offer a setting).

Patrick, I am getting an error when I try to get to the friendfeed tab in mioNews. It is saying Date.monthNames[month] is undefined. Then it just hangs. I have to then refresh the browser and I can only access the home tab. If you want a screen shot let me know where to email it to.

I have duplicated the error on FF3.0 on both Vista SP1 and XP SP3. On Safari on Vista I get an error: http://mionews.com Undefined value.

Performance should be a lot better now. I spent some time this evening making the initial site load faster and tuning our backend systems. Unfortunately, I need to turn off the "relevance" feature until I can get the performance under control. In the meantime, everything else should be faster.
One other problem that I am having is that I am having some posts that seem to be sticky, I can not get rid of them even if I refresh my browser.
Jon - doh! Can you share any info about the entry that is stuck? title, etc?

There is a bunch of them, Old Store by Thomas Hawk, Ntino: Mashable ... by Hutch Carpenter, The Seesmic product short term roadmap by Loic Le Meur. The show as read then I refresh and they should up as unread again. In both FF 3.0 and Safari.

Also should there be the ability to mark all as read on home or in the friendfeed tab, for me it is disabled. It only works on individual friends.

Ken - haha, actually, I hadn't seen that until just now. Very funny. I have been working on it on-and-off or over a year, with the recent Ext-based UI started back in December. But the switch to 100% FriendFeed didn't happen until two weeks ago.

Is this a for-profit project, or might you open source it at some point? I think you could recruit at least one other developer reasonably quickly if it were to open. :-)

Ken - it's could be for profit, so open sourcing it right away may not be possible. But our larger strategy doesn't require that it be closed source either, so the status could change quickly. Our main focus is the social/relevance ranking engine, so if we did open up that part would remain closed as an API (similar to FF's API).

Hmmm....well personally, I'd like to have just an Outlook-like interface to FF with the ability to sort by service, user, date, show threaded comments, mark items as read, etc. The recommendation aspect of it would be secondary. Heck, it'd be nice just to build a universal RIA UI that could handle FF, Twitter, Pownce, etc. If you were to open some of your stuff, I'd probably jump in on some of the basic UI functionality. Eclipse for Social Networks, so to speak ;-)

i tried to log on with my email and it would not take, but with the nickname it seemed to work..
Two questions regarding My Friends. One is there any way that I can sort them by name right now it seems like they are just in a random order. Second, I tried to set up a folder to group my friends, but I can not find any way to group my friends.

Jon - automatic sorting isn't possible (yet, but someone else asked for it yesterday), but you can drag and drop to reorder the list. I guess we need to make that feature more obvious. To group existing friends, just drag them in to the folder.

The problem with drag and drop on FF is that I have a FF add-on that allows me to drag and drop text to open a new tab with a search results of that text. thus I try to d&d a friend and it opens a search for that name. Not working, nor did it work on Safari.

Russellreno - it *should* work like other drag operations in most applications: while dragging, move your cursor near the edge of the scroll pane and it should scroll. Should being the operative word. If you tried that, let me know and I'll investigate.

D & D is sluggish. It works well if the folder is visible. I could also drag up the top and drop but that is too slow.

Thanks Vince & Jon - you can expect incremental improvements every day or two :) Sean - we're experiencing intermittent errors that can often be "fixed" by reloading the page. Let me know if that doesn't fix the issue.
