OMFG. So last night I was complaining about the music on the first boss of Forge of Souls - it's SO out of left field! And someone kindly informed me that "Bronjahm" is a reference to James Brown, and duh, the boss is "Bronjahm the Godfather of Souls"...gosh Blizz put some effort into that. Even looks like him. Goofy shit. Good one, Blizz. :) - http://www.wow.com/2009...
My uncle was shot to death in front of his family when I was 13. I wasn't into guns before but that kinda clinched it. However, in recent years I've thought that I would take a gun course if I could afford it. If only so that I could figure out what to do with one if I were in a bad situation and someone ended up dropping one. I've been held up at knifepoint, but not gunpoint yet, thank god. I grew up in LA. For the past 20 yrs I've lived in the SF Bay Area.
- Spidra Webster
Those three questions together are hilarious.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I don't have a gun, but I've been trained in the use of assault rifles. Austin, TX. Not sure why I felt compelled to answer that.
- The Letter M
A bit discordant eh Akiva? That seems to me to be a great way of learning about folks in this fast paced medium. They choose the parts that work for what they want to express about themselves. And I'm interested in answers to all three.
- SAM
I do not own guns though I have shot them. I do think it is important to know how to use them, though I don't really want to own any. I need to learn more still! Silcon Valley, CA (but I grew up outside Rochester, NY)
- Rachel Lea Fox
don't own but have shot one in Maine target shooting but I live in NY
- VAL D. Zone
For me: I own many guns, and have shot them for various reasons all my life. However, I've never bought a gun for myself, all of them were gifts (a bit odd I think). I grew up in a small town in Missouri, and live in Washington state now.
- SAM
Never shot a gun. Born Raised and will die in California
- CW™
I don't own a gun, though I've shot several (family of hunters/gun owners<--They're in Kansas City). I'm in LA.
- Admiral Anika
Technically, I own several late 19th century Winchesters Shot guns(Great Grandfathers), but they aren't in my possession, and it's not likely I'd use them. I've only shot a gun once and whacked myself in the head on the recoil. WV.
- Jimminy Fuller
I don't qualify for the "never shot a gun", but don't expect to ever need to own one unless we get into an apocalypse scenario. Chicago area.
- LogEx
B/F owns one - I have shot it twice at the range - we live in Texas. :-D
- PGM or Paulette
LogEx... if the apocalypse comes... it's too late to purchase one I think.
- SAM
My dad owns... ten guns. I have shot probably all of them. Live in MN
- Holdenpage
Never shot a gun, unless you count a BB gun once when I was about 7. I live in SE Queensland, Australia.
- Mellissa
@SAM, if an apocalypse comes, I won't worry too much about proper procedure in obtaining necessities.
- LogEx
Same as Mellissa. BB gun if you count it, none if you don't. Handled an unloaded glock to feel the weight. Fancy owning a gun but probably won't until the apocalypse. Hawaii here.
- Arlan Koizumi
Don't own any chemical explosive based weapon systems. Have fired a .22, .308 and .45ACP. Live in Australia
- Mo Kargas
Have many guns. Why do you want to know where we live?
- Tope Nic
grew up in chicago. shot .22 rifles at girl scout camp as a kid. have never felt the urge to own, but periodically contemplate taking classes on how to shoot. but that's more along the lines that i also have enjoyed archery and contemplate finding a place to learn more about that sport.
- Katie
I have shot an AKC 47. Won't do it again. My aim was too good (at an imaginary target on tree). My BB gun is enough for the woods although it could deliver a bit more sting to be effective against these recently militant raccoons.
- Melanie Reed
I've shot a BB gun. I don't own any and I like it that way. My father-in-law collects rifles and also makes his own ammo.
- Nathalie, Dreamer of FF
Don't own any except a BB gun. Yes I've used rifles in Boy Scouts and when I was working in the strawberry fields. California. I've had many opportunities in recent times to go to the gun range with a friend but always declined.
- Rodfather
over the years i've used BB guns, .22 pistol, .22 long rifle, 5-chamber .38 revolver, 12 gauge shotgun loaded with either birdshot or 00 rounds. the shotgun with 00 bothered me as much as the .38 did. no formal training beyond what was needed for a few firearms-related merit badges back in Boy Scouts. seen a few ppl shot in person and up close. never owned a gun, don't plan to unless things get FAR worse around here. DFW, TX.
- Joe Silence
I don't, never have and live in LA (grew up right outside DC).
- Lis
I've shot a rifle a couple of times. My dad was ex-National Guard and took me to the gun club when I was very young. I'm not afraid of handling them; I like mechanical things. But I would never own one. (Baltimore).
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
I own my grandfather's antique six shooter...and I've shot lots of other guns/rifles. I live in the SF Bay Area.
- Beau Liening
Don't own, never shot one, and live in Texas. I realize the irony in this.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I don't own, nor have I fired, a gun. I've held a gun though.. a giant .45 if I remember correctly. I'm also in Texas.
- Yolanda
I grew up in WNY. (living in Texas) Growing up my Dad had two shotguns in the house, but never took me out to fire them. One of my early boyfriends was a gun lover, and we would shoot out at his friends house in the country. Same with a later boyfriend, and we went to the machine gun shoot in KY. Out in the middle of the woods. Where I played with an uzi, AK47 and even a flame thrower.
- aden {still not ginger}
I grew up in Mississippi. I've shot just about every sort of hunting firearm. I was the only white kid I knew growing up who didn't hunt or own any fire arms. I currently don't own fire arms. I fully support the right for everyone to own firearms if they so choose.
- Tad
never held a gun or shot a gun ,, live in SW Ontario ..
- johnpiercy
Technically I don't *own* any guns, but we have them in the house. I've only shot an air rifle, but my friend and I are currently wading through the prerequisites/paperwork required to get our permits and take shooting lessons. I live in Boston.
- Penguin It's Cold Outside
Don't own one, but I have shot several rifles (mostly in my youth.) My brother owns about 100 guns... he doesn't own much else, just guns. (We don't speak much.)
- Mark It's 2000-Oh-1-Oh J
(Clarification: My brother and I don't speak much, but for many more reasons than the guns. He has lived with my parents for nearly his entire life. He's now 56. He has never paid rent or anything for food, but he has over $100K in guns and just bought a $55K truck that mostly sits in the garage.)
- Mark It's 2000-Oh-1-Oh J
I've shot guns a few times (only handguns at indoor ranges, as part of learning safety when I was growing up and a time or two for 'fun') and I live in the Seattle area. I've watched people shoot trap at an outdoor range but it was never something that I wanted to try.
- joey
Don't own a gun, but I have fired enough of them. I am extremely proficient with a rifle at long range.
- Steven Perez
This question and it's responses ... definitely learning about the Friendfeeders. Cool. Grew up in and live in the west. Only guns ever fired were theatrical guns.
- Holly Rae
Live in MN, own guns used to hunt, used to shoot more, debating permit to carry handgun but seldom places that seem to require it anymore but OTOH might be intertesting to write about process for gaining one. Shooting always a good form of stress relief need to find a range that I can use more around here
- WarLord
I don't own any guns, I have shot with assault rifle in the army, which is compulsory here in Finland. Also, I have shot with BB guns. Not planning getting any, though that may change, if drug laws are made any more relaxed and there'll be (even more) messed up people everywhere...
- Jemm
Why would you want to own a gun, when it'll most likely get you killed? My parents have an air rifle for shooting rabbits though, but that doesn't count.
- James Myatt
I've never even touched anything stronger than a BB gun (that I remember). I live in northern California.
- Shannon Jiménez
@James - because we can own them is one reason why....
- PGM or Paulette
One of my goals in life is to die without ever having fired a gun. So, no I don't own one. I live in SE PA, big time hunting country.
- Jim Iz Not on Ur List
Shot a pellet gun and a shotgun when I was a kid. I hate handguns and will never own one or shoot one.
- Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Don't own a gun myself (I'm not counting my pellet gun), but grew up around them and have a healthy respect for them. I'm not opposed to gun ownership, but don't keep a gun in the house because I don't trust my kids to leave it alone.
- Jason, Queazy
I've shot a police revolver (a Luger, IIRC), and a rifle, and then a Rocket-propelled grenade. Some policemen on a training course asked me If i'd like to try the weapons out, and I said yes.
- Iain Baker
where Jason? - I am in Austin. And I like your answer - I respect them as well. We have one - unloaded - in the house but we have no kids.
- PGM or Paulette
I don't own a gun and I've never shot a gun. However, I was raised around guns and come from a family of hunters, so I was taught to respect them as well. (I live in Texas, too, and know I'm in the minority here.)
- Trish R
Never even held a gun. Had the option to fire an AK-47 in Vietnam but it was so humid I was concerned there would be a bit of an incident when the thing flew out of my sweating hands so declined.
- Mark H
I've never even touched a real gun and I don't intend to do it.
- M F
I've never owned a gun (not even an air-rifle) but I've fired many weapons from a 1940's US Navy issue .45 revolver up to a GPMG (that was fun, though it left me somewhat bruised). Also, I'm British.
- Slappy Line
Don't own a gun, but I've fired a 12 gauge shotgun, M16, Desert Eagle .44, Luger .22, and a few M1911 type .45s some which were accurized combat pistols that were super awesome...Beaverton, OR
- Alex Scoble
@PGM, I live in Orange, which is along IH10 about 15 minutes from Louisiana.
- Jason, Queazy
Never shot anything bigger than a BB gun. I live in Seattle.
- Kevin Pedraja
I only shoot dirty looks. Never touched a gun. I'm in Connecticut.
- Miriella
Thanks Jason - near Beaumont - sort of. I've heard of it and not sure why. :-D
- PGM or Paulette
Own a .357, I was in the Army so I've shot a lot, Central Florida
- Matt Hilton
Don't currently but I have had several in the past, shot many....and I'm in San Antonio, Texas.
- Christian (Simply X)
Remember its the things you see when you don't have a gun :)

It is delicious, if I do say so myself. I brought the bread in separately so I could heat it for lunch and everything not get soggy. I heart my crockpot.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
Sorry - just wanted the recipe from you - I have been following along and notice you posted over days that you've been working on this and just wanted to know how long for each step and what spices you used and how you made the sauce. If it's not too much trouble. :-D
- PGM or Paulette
and as I see further up - you posted the recipe! Sorry!
- PGM or Paulette
Ah! Gotcha. I used a Boston Butt roast. it took me all of 5 minutes to season it (per the recipe (link above) but replacing garlic powder w real minced garlic. I crockpotted it for 12 hours. Took about 10 minutes to pull apart with forks in a bowl and redeposit into washed crock. It took me maybe another 6-8 minutes to put together the sauce, I mixed that with the meat, and crockpotted another 4 hours. A long wait, but it was SO worth it.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
*for Superbowl, I will probably start it at 9pm, let cook overnight, and then let it simmer in the sauce until 2pmish the next day - definitely a 2 day recipe.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
Also, I would love to make a living off of staying at home cooking half time and writing half time
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
Honey, use that pic on your books and you could ;)

This sounds awesome! thanks for the recipe!

I don't even know of actual fragrance companies? There are cosmetic companies like Lancome (that do produce a lot of fragrances), that do have a FB/Twitter presence, and Sephora, which sells a ton of fragrances and is pretty hot on twitter, but that's all I can think of that's close to what you're thinking of.
- Miriella
That's helpful, Miriella. I wonder if any women's fragrance companies have ever jumped into this space. If anyone else knows anything, PLEASE share.
- Tamar Weinberg
Does anyone else know about social community involvement like custom community websites?

Sometimes you just have to take a break :) I'm definitely sick of running random heroics with my pally right now, so I've just been leveling my lock.

It's the Doctor, you don't want to stop watching it.
- Jimminy Fuller
I went to Chicago for 10 days and didn't have a single itch to log in. The only reason why I wanted to at all was to make sure no one in the guild was causing a fuss (I'm an officer), so that's a lame reason. I only feel itches to log in when I have a pressing achievement or obsession, like when I neeeeeeed to fish for a turtle mount or get some new shiny. Or new content. There are bigger cheebs to do like collect badges or do raids, but that's largely unattainable going solo, so I'm meh about those.
- Miriella
I stopped playing since last Saturday with no interest in playing in the near future. For me, it was getting bored on Amorfati, rolling an alt, and realizing it's the exact same game all over again. I think I'm looking for something with new or different gameplay. Or something shiny like what you said, Miriella.
- Mark Trapp
I've been playing less myself, mostly due to the holidays and all that. My current goal is to collect Heirloom gear so I can speed level an alt I rolled. I pretty much only log on to do the Wintergrasp dailies. The DF takes so long to queue me now I rarely even get a random dungeon.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I'm currently working on my frost gear, so I log in at least once every evening to run a random, and then I'm on for scheduled raids. I'm dying to play one of my alts though. Haggis - whenever you want to run a random, group with me. I find that when I go into random with at least one other person in my group, I get to the front of the queue faster. :D
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
You have to make friends with a tank, then perma-group with them. You'll get in instantly! :-D
- Miriella
Pretty much. :D I frequently group with my...well, I guess he's my boyfriend now...and he is a bear/tree, so we get picked up easily. I find that a single DPS going into queue will sit there for almost an hour during slower times. Suck. Multiple DPS gets through faster, which is nice, but still not as fast as being grouped with a tank or healer. :D
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Nothing wrong with it. WoW's designed to keep you running in circles, and you don't feel like running in circles.
- mjc
from iPhone
With the DF, I think it depends on what time of the day you log-in. It usually takes about 15 minutes when I sign up as DPS (although, yeah, it's literally instantaneous as a tank.) I actually don't mind the downtime waiting for the DF. It gives me a chance to find titanium nodes, do some Tournament quests, and empty my bags between runs, although, it does usually mean I can only run about one instance per hour.
- Victor Ganata
I stopped playing WOW because the boy who broke my heart plays and its a constant reminder of him. So does the girl that he cheated on me with.

- Joe Pierce
In a fruitless attempt to provide a visual reference my boy and I just spent like 5 mins looking for a chart to show you draenei are pretty damn tall for an Alliance race. Don't judge me! *gets off rl stepping stool*
- Heather
If you're not Alliance, you suck. :-P My Dwarf Shadow Priest (Snufalufagus, yes I know that's not the right spelling) shall melt yo' face!
- Jason, Queazy
Actually, I have (had, since my account is inactive) a Tauren Druid at one time. It's actually one of the better Horde races, IMO.
- Jason, Queazy
I'm really trying to get into the druid, but I'm failing. I should respec and try playing as a caster instead of feral. But that'd be admitting I really can't adjust to a non ranged roll. Tauren is my favorite Horde race at the moment, I just wish they were a little bit shorter.
- Joe Pierce
My first WoW toon was a Hordie, so I will always be FOR THE HORDE even though I play Alliance now.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
So I've given myself 3 alliance options on Silvermoon. Now I just have to play them!
- Joe Pierce
For the HORDE!!! (As much as I will always be Alliance. Horde battlecry is far superior.)
- Arlan Koizumi
I've always thought that a thousand gnomes all shouting "SALUTATIONS!" in unison as they charge would be just as intimidating as anything else I've ever seen.

Of all the bodily fluids I've ever been exposed to (in a professional capacity, of course), I think the most infectious of them all is baby drool and spittle.
I've been splattered with blood from patients with hepatitis lots of times. I've cut myself with a scalpel slathered with pus. I've spilled cerebrospinal fluid from a patient with HIV and CNS coccidiomycosis on myself. I've been coughed on repeatedly by patients whom I didn't realize had pulmonary TB until days after the fact. I've been barfed on, pissed on, and crapped on, had feces flung at me by a grown man, have had pus full of MRSA shoot into my eyes, but none of these have made me sick.

Wow - I can so relate to all of this! sheesh! thanks for putting it into perspective!
- Nancy Sp♠id
Hey, why don't we put it on the spine, so it covers up the first couple of words in the title?
- Joe
Barcodes appear in three different places on items in our library system. All of them "standard". This doesn't help the workflow, btw.
- DJF
When ever I cover circ, I sort of enjoy the treasure hunt of finding the bar code. Front cover? Back cover? Top? Bottom? Inside? Outside? NO ONE KNOWS! The best part is that when you do find it, 50% the book doesn't circulate. IT'S LIKE WINNING THE LOTTERY!
- Sarah G.
I hate when the barcodes are placed where you can't read the synopsis on the back of a paperback or DVD. I would rather look for them than be so strict on placement that you cover important information.
- Alan Simpson
Ours used to go inside the back cover, unless it was inside the last or penultimate or... page. Now they go near the bottom left on the front cover - easier for scanning - except the old ones that haven't been changed or the ones from a branch library that joined as result of a merger and had barcodes at the top right on the front cover. And people helpfully give us books with the back cover up so we can scan the ISBN barcode.
- Deborah Fitchett
LOL. Check out the new rewards for not bailing if the DF sends you to Occ: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread... Rare gems, extra Emblems of Triumph, a chance to get the Blue Drake mount.... What other dungeon can we complain about so Blizzard can make it drop phat loot too? :D
- Victor Ganata
Srsly? They nerfed HoR? That's just sad. They're slowly putting everything on easy mode. :(
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
They didn't nerf Oculus, they just made it loot-crazy. One of my friends got the drake already last night. I'm super pissed about the Deathwhisper 25 nerf-bat though. =/
- Miriella
They did nerf Oculus a little. I wonder if it'll stop the drakes above Varos Cloudstrider's platform from killing me all the time.
- Victor Ganata
Oh that's right, I glazed over that stuff. Lol.
- Miriella
And this is why you clear out drakes before engaging Cloudstrider. I'm just sayin'. :P ;) *hug*
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Every time I've run Occ, we manage to kill Varos, but a drake wipes us all out afterwards. Since I'm usually face down after Varos dies, I'm not sure what exactly is happening--whether the Azure Captain he summons just hangs around eating faces afterwards, or whether we really did aggro a stray Azure Drake even after making sure they're all dead before landing. It's really weird.
- Victor Ganata
Yeah, you *are* supposed to clear the area out before you fight him, because he does call them for help...I think having the drakes around make the lightning thingies worse on top of it, but yeah. ^.^
- Miriella
Blah. Just when I started having a strat down to deal with the 4th wave. Further proof that if you QQ loud and long enough, Blizzard caves in.
- Arlan Koizumi
wait, if you're floating, why do you need chairdancing music? or are you doing the daydreaming floating kind? (our library has two people on the ref desk - one is actually on the desk and the other is a floater ;))
- Miriella
we have our own style of floating here. all of our collection floats (stays wherever it is checked in) so sometimes branches get overloaded and we get the job of re-distributing. :)
- holly
I'm being dense. So why chairdancing music? Are you sitting in a spot and organizing the books?
- Miriella
Oh. I thought you were huffing book binding glue. ;)
- Sarah G.
merry, I need inspiration! Sarah - shhhhhh. don't tell my secrets
- holly
Oh and by the way, Ben Gibbard and DNtel called, they want their Postal Service songs back.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
It seriously drives me batty that Owl City sound exactly like Postal Service. Couldn't he do something even just *slightly* different? Anyway, the bf loves both bands, so I'm torn between being nauseated and swoony whenever I hear either band...
- Miriella
I think Postal Service is precisely why I like a few of Owl City's songs. I'm partial to "Fireflies" and "Hello Seattle"...and that's about it.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Mostly the reason I'm so against Owl City is the (over)use of Autotune. The Postal Service soundalike prob is forgiveable. The autotune is not.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
from IM
Yeah, Chris is bummed that Postal Service never made another album, so he's just overjoyed that Owl City is around now. Lol.
- Miriella
I think there's vague relations to postal service on the one song, but it's mostly just that the dudes voice sounds a lot like Gibbard (when I first heard the song, I thought it was a new Gibbard side project or something). The rest of the album doesn't sound much like it at all. Just my opinion, I guess.
- Bill Kinney
and that song is damn catchy, fwiw. the rest of the album is throwaway.
- Bill Kinney
So I was listening to the radio this morning, thinking that maybe I was falling behind on new music or something. (Then again, I was looking at Billboard charts, & I'm totally not missing out, so I don't know why I was trying.) ANYWAY, I come across this song, and the lyrics go something like "So call me Mr. Flintstone, I can make your bed rock."
From a blue: "Our new design for Cataclysm bosses is they will all stand in one place, not require any movement, not summon in adds, and not buff or debuff anyone. Then we can guarantee that dps will be identical for every skilled player on every boss. I hope the fights are still fun though. :( " LOL

Answer questions from students who come to the desk, answer IM questions, scan the area and see who looks lost and go offer help. Fix broken printers, staplers, find lost files, etc.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
it varies, but common theme...help people with anything and everything
- Sir Shuping
Yeah, the idea is people who need help doing research come to the ref desk. In actual practice it's about 50% tech support and where's the bathroom. :)
- Jàson Puçkett
reset computers, readers advisory triage, tell parents to look after their kids, tell kids they can't jump off the five foot prow of the boat), answer IM questions, refresh displays
- Abigail
Tell people where the bathrooms are ;-)
- Mary Carmen
And I love that librarians are on IM while at the desk. I remember both Cecily and Steve kind of live-Friendfeeding their experiences while at the desk. Armed with all of this, I'm wondering what took me so long to gravitate towards librarianship. Hmmm.
- Derrick
The previous answers are all good ones (I definitely recommend the "refgrunt" search) but it varies widely with type of library and type of desk. Academic libraries usually just have one reference desk, but larger public libraries can have several: a "reference" desk, an "info" desk (more of the bathroom and stapler questions than "real" reference questions), one in the children's department, etc. Also, I'm probably hypersensitive, but I prefer "staffing" to "manning."
- Catherine Pellegrino
Sorry, Catherine. This is, obviously, all new to me. And thanks.
- Derrick
No worries! I had to train myself to say "staffing" when I first started; now it's second nature. Oh, and depending on your community, you may be doing a LOT of remedial computing instruction. Like, 'no, you have to click in the box first before you type."
- Catherine Pellegrino
We say "staffing" too. Derrick, a lot of (some?) academic libraries don't put librarians on the ref desk because they get more of this kind of computer/info/directional question than anything else. They staff the desk with paraprofessionals who do triage on questions and refer advanced stuff to librarians. There's a lot of divided opinion about this service model.
- Jàson Puçkett
Tell students that "no, we don't have index cards/paint thinner/rubber cement/file folders/binder clips/thong underwear/etc. for you to borrow/use/never return. Put paper in the printer. Fix paper jam in the printer. Stop student from printing out a book on the printer. Truly, we don't have a "reference desk" anymore. It's a one stop desk. So, it's everything from answering research...
- Junebug
Again, colleges are different. At my small liberal arts college, we happily give out pens, index cards, binder clips, file folders, envelopes, etc. to our students. Thong underwear would be on a case-by-case basis.
- s t e v e
In addition to what other people have said, I do a lot of instruction. We end up doing research consultations at the desk, many times.
- marthalib
e-paperwork til people ask questions: anything from printers/bathroom/stapler to "it says this book is on the shelf"/"how do I get this online" to finding evidence-based articles about ethnicity and pap smears.
- Meg v. Meg v. 1.0.0.1
Since it was not mentioned, check FriendFeed. Or Twitter. Or both. As time and boss allows. =P
- Andy Woodworth
LOL Steve. I give out what I can, but some of that stuff we just don't have. I was drawing on past experiences mostly. Most of our students ask for standard stuff like rubber bands, paper clips, and tape. At MPOW, I don't think I've really had any bizarre requests or reactions when we didn't have something.
- Junebug
I gab with patrons and try not to get too busy with anything just in case I'm asked a question, so I don't look annoyed.

As a public librarian, what I do on the ref desk is: answer directional questions ("Where are the bathrooms?"); look up patron card information ("Are any of my holds in?" "What's my PIN?"); look up books for patrons; put books on hold for patrons; help patrons find information online & in our databases; help patrons who aren't particularly tech-savvy get online & use their...

Yes, Josh will not give up his thong underwear to anyone. LOL

When I am on the desk, I'm usually roaming around, earning odd looks from the students as I look over their shoulders to 1. see what they're working on, 2. semi-tracking facebook/relaxation use vs academic searching & creativity efforts, and 3. keeping up with possible assignments/anticipating reference questions...
- awd
We've got a combo desk at the entrance so I try to look up and smile when people come in the door. There's a bunch of lending, and there's directional questions (where are the toilets/photocopiers/water fountain), and there's "I looked this book up online and it says "Due: [date-in-the-past]", what does that mean?" and so forth. Occasionally there's a real reference query and I panic for a moment.
- Deborah Fitchett
Josh? Flirt? Can't be...also, on a public library desk, you have to fend off the crazies.
- Miriella
Just resting, waiting for my bro to figure out his inventory situation.

I meant to comment earlier about this, but I dig "Shirtsy" as a name. Makes me laugh.
- Miriella
I've been mohawked twice. Is this something that other players are doing to me?
- jcunwired
Yeah, there's a promotion featuring Mr. T. He's around Goldshire somewhere and will give you "mohawk bombs" you can throw into a crowd and give them all the mask.
- Lindsay is in 20-ten
It was kind of humorous at first, but after about a dozen or so times getting mohawk'd the humors wore off.

On Saturday, Derrick, Alex Scoble, Holly, and I will be video recording a one hour round table chat about FriendFeed. Think FFundercats but on video. It'll air on TV in the Portland, OR area and will also be available for download online. We need some topic suggestions! What should we discuss?
How spammers/scammers are quickly banned because of swift community feedback.

How social media ties in with the important things in life: birth, death, bacon…

What are some of the cool things you can do on FF that aren't as easy on other SM sites, and how do you do them?
- Cassandra
discuss how kind all the tech smart people are to the less tech smart people on FF. I'm a techtard and have asked some dumbass questions, but all have been answered kindly and completely by the awesome folks on FF. This has led to my sticking around longer than expected and probably longer than most of you wanted. But it shows that FF is more than a techie hangout. it's a big warm fuzzy place that welcomes all kinds of wonderful people with open arms. discuss that.
- Morgan Haley
maybe what brought each of you to friendfeed, how you felt when you first joined, and how you each made a connection with another? your diverse backgrounds leading to FF will surely be interesting on their own.
- Miriella
+1 Morgan. Most people here *I know* are nice.
- AJ Batac
Morgan, like the time I complained about the disabling of extensions in Chrome for Mac and EricaJoy came and reassured me? A lot of the status/insider-outsider/tech-non-tech barriers seem far more easily overcome here than any other social media site I've been on. It seems like no matter what question I have, someone who either knows the topic or works for the company in question is...

You could talk about the film culture that exists here.
- Joe Pierce
Jandy - yep, exactly. this place rocks and I would be less of a person without all of you in my cyber and real lives. Keep on being awesome all of you and I'll try to attain the awesome level before I die. Hugs and inappropriate gropes all around!
- Morgan Haley
How'd you get a TV station to put you guys on?
- Cristo
Alex had to do a dance for some people...
- Joe Pierce
uh, duh: Ffundercats! And what Miriella said. I'd love to just hear you each talking off the cuff about the evolution of how Friendfeed became a part of your lives ('cuz face it, we know you all hang out here a lot). Maybe ask one another two questions: 1) How is Friendfeed the same as other social networks? 2) How does Friendfeed differ from other social networks? Is it just the specific community that has evolved, or is it also the features that make it different?
- Laura Norvig
FF has a fabulous community, some of you know me better than my family! FF product is rich: great filtering & search capabilities, forerunner of great technology and features; also talk about future of FF, facebook adaptation of FF features / capabilities like real-time web feeds. Culture of FF startup is interesting to me as well - humble, agile and uber smart team that had a very...

Seriously though, what about the state of your social networks outside of ff? Compare and contrast the 'feeling' of the different places you frequent... making the case for or (*gasp*) against ff? Have any of you stated stand alone blogs based on your experience on ff? What caused you to make that leap and how did ff's community factor in?
- veo
How about some discussion on..."How long FF users who aren't on FB can hold out before having to give in and be assimilated" In short, I'd really like it if FB users could find me on FF w/o me having to sign up for FB.
- Tony Vota
I think it should end with a big fight over who is the best Rock Band-er
- Joe Pierce
Jeremy, of course it's Scoble approved. Alex will be there!
- Rochelle
+1 Morgan. I am the antithesis of a techie, really, but I've found such a wonderful group of people who are smart, genuine and kind. I don't think I could've survived the past few months without this place. /sappiness.
- Lis
Definitely speak about the community itself. The rent parties, the secret santa event, support for people who are ill, joy for those getting married, having children (congrats, BTW!), and the overall feeling of family that you get after being a long-term member of the site. This is the reason I keep coming back.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if I'm repeating what's already been suggested, but how about the FriendFeed Rent Parties?
- MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS
Oh how cool is that? Can't wait to see this...I'll try to think of some topics for you guys and post them.
- Mark Krynsky
Will we be able to interact with you during the recording? Will you be posting here and taking questions? Will Akiva lose the game live?
- WorldofHiglet
...plus I am really looking forward to seeing this! And, er, how did you break the news to Louis that he wasn't invited....?
- WorldofHiglet
NICE. Gratz, sir! I won a trash mob epic neck in ICC 25 last week, my first 264 piece. Had a number of ppl whisper me offering to buy it before I equipped it. HELL NAW. I like my stats all beefy. :P I'm a box away from Revered with Ashen Verdict so I can get my 268 ring. So tired of rep grinding that already... lol
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Woohoo! Grats guys! My mage is 3/4s of the way to Honored with Ashen Verdict...she doesn't get out much since my healer is needed all the time. She just passed Honored recently though. They are both very bad at winning loot rolls.
- Miriella
Sounds like me. Srsly, when I won the loot roll in ICC 25, the entire raid cheered on Vent and almost blew out my eardrums. LOL I've been to TOC 25 more times than I can count and every single time Talonstrike has dropped, I've lost it to someone. I am the unluckiest roller on the planet. So winning the neck was mind-blowing. :D
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
Lol yes! There's always a flurry of "what? Miri didn't actually win, that's a lie. She never wins."
- Miriella
I think my favorite Tiny Wins moment was when I won a roll on a ring in TOC 25 and the raid leader gave my loot to someone else because he got confused and didn't think it could have possibly been me. I was like "Um. That was...mine? I guess? OK, nevermind..."

Salt is not what comes in dime bags....ur doin it rong! ;)
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
"Dime Bag [dahym bag]: This is a little bag that some people put some things into. I just use them to hold onto my spices. I fill every dime bag with 1 tablespoon of whatever spice is goin' in there. If I give you an exact measurement, it's because it's important to get it right, but most of the time, I just tell you to have a dime bag of salt and pepper handy to season to taste. In that case, just use a peench or two, until it tastes good on your tongue. Shaka!"
- Miriella
"Shaka-Zulu [exactly how it looks, dumb-ass]: This is something I say when something is about to taste better than your momma's nipples."
- Miriella
a dime bag is a tablespoon, a nickle bag is half a tablespoon. :)
- Miriella
That took forever! I can't wait to see what you make.
- Admiral Anika
Drunk-Ass Chicken: "Everybody knows you shouldn't drink and drive. But since chickens can't drive, I say keep 'em fucked up twenty-four hours a day."
- Miriella
And, he tells you to use a peench of pepper and a peench of this, and I nearly died laughing, as it made me think of a guild in WoW called "Lobster Go Peench Peench"...

Hmm, do you think Valentine's Day Weekend of Cookin' with Coolio sounds romantic to Chris?

Was up too late because of soccer. 9:30 game was pushed back to 10:20 because somebody in an earlier game was stuck in traffic so they held that game back. Grrrr. Woke up feeling sick, which is fine cos I'm on furlough, but I planned to work today.
