"The Creative Steps Day Care children -- ages kindergarten through seventh grade -- went to the Valley Swim Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, on June 29. The day center's director, Alethea Wright, had contracted to use the club once a week. During their first visit, some children said they heard club members asking why African-American children were there. One of the boys told the Philadelphia Inquirer that a woman at the club said she feared the children "might do something" to her child. Days later, the day care center's $1,950 check was returned without explanation, Wright said."

"Bomb squad. War zone. Malfunctioning robot. In the opening sequence of The Hurt Locker, director Kathryn Bigelow expertly sets a tone of anxious, sweat-soaked drama. The film has been playing in New York and Los Angeles, expands to selected cities this Friday, and then goes wide on July 24. You can watch the first eight minutes online at Hulu (or after the jump)."

"Former NFL star Steve McNair was shot dead in his sleep last week by a 20-year-old girlfriend distraught about mounting financial problems and her belief that he was seeing someone else, police said Wednesday. Sahel Kazemi "was spinning out of control" when she shot McNair four times as he dozed on a sofa early Saturday, then turned the gun on herself, Police Chief Ronal Serpas said. Interviews with friends revealed that she was making payments on two cars, her rent was doubling and she suspected the married McNair was having a second affair with another young woman."

Yeah, it makes me think too ... makes me think I should have opened those abortion clinics in Bucharest and Sibiu when I had the chance last year. Unfortunately the tender for a contract has expired, and I'll have to wait until 2010, when hopefully, new opportunities will arise.

"The Spurs have emerged as the frontrunner in the chase to land free-agent forward Antonio McDyess. According to a league executive with knowledge of the negotiations, the Spurs have offered McDyess a three-year deal starting at the full mid-level exception, with the third year partially guaranteed. It has been widely speculated that McDyess, 34, will play only two more years. If the Spurs' rumored bid is true, the Spurs have essentially sweetened their best two-year offer by guaranteeing McDyess a bit of money for retirement in 2011-12."

Yeah with the state of big men in NBA lately that's true Amani. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my life now that the Lakers signed my most hated player ever - Artest. I don't think I can be a fan for a few years or months when this blows up in their face. :(
- Steve C
I like Artest. Too bad he's a Laker now :p
- Rodfather
I will give you Artest for a Power Forward to be named later Rodfather

"Sprained ankles are among the most common sports injuries. In fact, the NYT estimates that around eight million people sprain one of their ankles yearly. Fortunately, a one-minute balance exercise can help reduce your chance of injury and repair your ankles."
